back in the day, we used to tilt our refrigerators sideways just slightly so that the door would close itself ... free optional feature

I have been working with Commercial and Domestic Refrigeration. I can say LG is a good product and did not deteriorate its Quality compared to other brands especially those ones that were now made in PRC.

My dad , being a mechanical engineer, always scolding me when I was aimlessly gazing into the fridge keeping the door open. He was telling me decide what you want to pick before you open the fridge door. And i was always responding that I need to know what are the items inside the fridge first! Actually doing this by other members of a family , several times a day wastes a significant amount of enegy , shortens the life of the fridge and increases the bills as well.
So as junior college student, i came up with an idea, which was 100% a mechanical solution for the problem. so could have seen inside without opening the door. That was 26 years ago. 20 years later LG came with an electronic version of it👍

Glass doesn't keep the temperature steady. It tends to warm the contents instead of cooling. This is demonstrated in water bottles; "cooling" water bottles that keep in the temperature of your liquid, whether that be hot or cold, are all made out of metal/aluminum, while regular water bottles that aren't advertised as "cooling" or temperature steady are usually glass or plastic.

I'd expect a fridge that costs this much that knows when it's fkn open to be able to close its self tbh. But I guess all that design and development money went into creating a revolutionary technology called a glass door

Think you missed the point that it's demonstrating, which is also visible in the video, also on your timestamp, also in English "-the window lets you check on the items inside". In this case, the bish apparently stocks her shit in semi-abundance so perhaps keeping count of things in mind for restocking the fridge, seems valid.

InstaView is a non-practical gadget. It has just decorative purpose. It would take about 50 years to recover the price difference on saved electricity when compared to similar LG fridge without glass door.

omg, this is amazing, opening the fridge door to see what i have (even though i know what is inside, since i bought the stuff) is so hard
The purpose of it is to reduce the frequency of opening the fridge door. Each time you open the fridge door, the motor will restart and also cool air runs out hence it will consume more power to chill the fridge. The problem I see with the fridge is it only shows you a small section of the fridge hence I would still need to open the fridge to check on the food I have on the inside.
@@holypredator very well explained 👏. I saw this fridge and it was discounted to around RM7000 which translates to around 1,700 US dollars. Have to admit,all of its quirks and features make the price seem quite reasonable. I've seen refrigerators that cost over 10K and none of them have such high-tech features like this LG fridge.

Their shit linear inverter compressor only lasts 3 years... mine died right on spot 3 years ... now i have a huge stainless steel box. Maybe i could put it outside for the chickens to lay and hatch... pretty fridge + Short lifespan compressor= waste of money...
