In this video: I bought a Scott Unitrack frame and fork earlier this year but the fork was completely seized. It's sat on the side for a while and now it's time to give the bike a complete refresh.
Dude insane paint job 😱
Thanks!
That's a good looking bike!!! Thanks for showing your painting technique.
Thanks!
I started watching your channel for the vintage rebuilds, now totally addicted and strangely wanting to build a MTB lol.
Go for it! They're fun bikes to have!
Paint is great. LX, hubs and freewheel, shifting SOUND great! Wheels look so true. Nice
Thanks 👍
Nice build! That paint job is the dogs dangley bits.
Thanks!
Finally got time to sit and watch the video. Thanks again for a most enjoyable video and build. This one came out very nicely. I would keep it also too much hard work went into it to sell. Can’t wait for the next video.Cheers.
Thanks! I've been riding the bike all week to work and back and it's a great ride. Heavy! But definitely very comfortable.
man this job is absolutely stunning
Insane paint job
Thanks!
Nice work, amazing result keep up the great work all the best Andy
Cheers Andy!
I love the bullmoose bar.
Stylish and comfy.
Great work. I love the paint job and Those handlebars are so cool
Yeah bullmoose are awesome bars to ride with in comfort!
Paint job makes that bike 100%!!
Makes me want to do it to one of mine.
That is the best paint job you have done so far. It looks soooooooo cool man! Kinda retro 80's/early 90's vibe. I used UPOL Clear on my last job. I am definitely going to use the SprayMax 2K on my next build. Their primer is pretty solid.
Thanks! Really appreciate that. It definitely needed that 3rd coat with the Spray.Bike clear. Be better with the 2K though.
@@MonkeyShred You did well to get it that glossy with the spray.bike clear!
Well done man👌👌👌👌
WELL DONE 😎😎😎😎
Thanks!
Nice work, i loved this build:) I also own a Unitrack cst, in its original state. The original front forks had a recalled in 1994 ( around) because of fork cracks. The original had two big 'scott' sign at the front, the recalled version had 'unschock' sign on it.
I did read about that! I think I read that the model that I have wasn't recalled... something over it being named "Unishock" rather than "UnishockS" or something minor like that. Either way, they're terrible forks!
@@MonkeyShred I agree, even in the overhauled state they are bad:DDD
Wow, what a nice homemade paint job! A lot nicer than what's fabricated nowadays from the top brands. They're boring; just black or white or grey. Only thing I would do differently would to change the drivetrain to a 1x11 or 1x12.
Thanks! A 12 speed would definitely be smoother but the 8 speed works fine for around town.
Классный велик. Круто. Хорошие компоненты shimano. Покраска вообще прикольная. Природа тоже красивая.👍
Спасибо! Рад, что вам понравилось.
lovely paint :-)
Thanks! I definitely impressed myself with the result.
Been looking forward to his build 😎
Did it live up to expectations?
Oh yes, just keep doing what your doing. I love the content but I’m more partial to vintage old school MTB 😎
That looks rad dood
I like them handlebars
Right?... even the collar...just sweet
Comfy and stylish :)
Paint job looks factory!
I wish! But thanks ;)
Killer paint job dig it. I planned to strip a bike and diy paint it but decals I need first
Thanks! Have you found the decals you need?
@@MonkeyShred I’m putting my diy thing on hold I doing a budget build hard tail.
You have been one busy young man! You really did a fantastic job on this one. How could uou sell it? No way! Sweet ride!
Thanks! It the issue of space again that may force a sale!
@@MonkeyShred i know it well...I'm st 17, and I just can't stop buyimg...lol
I have one of these in all blue ,not sure what year it is ,but it is the best bike ever.
You can look up quite a few old Scott catalogues. Should help you find a year.
@@MonkeyShred I actually found out it's a 1991
Stop riding through the puddles.
Is that mud inside the steerer tube as you were assembling it ?
Some brown stuff.
Puddles are fun though!
No, it's copper grease. I applied some to help the headset slide in to place.
How does the texture of the paint job feel?? It the clear coat make it as smooth and even?
The third coat helped a lot but it's not an even finish, no.
@@MonkeyShred that’s what I was thinking. Did you wet sand it at all before clear coat?
@@jjonesmtb nope! I’d be worried about loosing some of the pattern doing that. I think wet sanding it now might work to smooth it off but I’d have to be careful not to burn through.
@@MonkeyShred yeah it’s a fine line. However, I think the effect you got is worth the texture. It turned out awesome
Is that copper paste you put on the cantilever mounts?
It was. Just to stop anything seizing.
@@MonkeyShred isn't that what the bearing/bushing of the brake runs on? I always put grease on there because I thought you shouldn't put copper paste on moving parts
@@dennisgabler362 it is. Yes you could be right there. Although I think that the bushing that goes over the post mount is effectively clamped to it by the bolt and the movement comes from the arm rotating around that. Maybe. I’ll have to look more closely at the movements. You are right though. You wouldn’t stuff bearings with copper grease so if it’s a moving part it should have different grease.
What’s the thought behind the talc on the inside of the tire?
It "should" stop the tyre sticking to the tube over time and helps with tyre fitting
Oh my! I hate that rust color grease.
Copper grease? Why?
!!!
;)
I respect the work but the paint job?.........
Is awesome right?!
