None, honestly. A7S III and R6 are much better deals at this price point. On the other hand, if you slash the prices of the Original Z6 under 1000 USD... that would definitely be tempting.
The is the most incrimental upgrade ever. It's just kind of sad. I really feel for the people who bought the Z6, like myself. This is just what the Z6 should have been. The battery grip with shutter button, power through usb-c, dual card slots, 4k 60, clean EVF output, wireless firmware update... they were just hurrying and slacking. These features are basic. And still.... no N-log profile for non-hdmi output? And ofc they won't give these updates to the Z6, that would wreck their Z6II sales.
Currently using the D7500 with 200-500,... For wildlife videography and photography. Definitely the Z6II, with enhanced battery performance and accessories, plus improved video fps, will be my choice.
This is not a review. its just an infomercial giving you an overview of the features. people want an honest review that lets us know the only question that everyone has. has the auto focus vastly improved or not. is it now up to par with Sony and Canon ? why this video is called a review is beyond me.
Oh come on, the camera can focus on a guy standing in a professionally lit broom closet holding both a microphone AND a football, while the photographer recites Nikon brochures. If that doesn't equal the quality of other digital camera reviews, I don't know what does.
i believe most reviewers will start from that. Wait for a week and we should have a fair idea. I am still not sure if it can compete with 1053 PD AF points of canon. I mean 493 points of Nikon vs 1053 points of Canon
@@niranjannanda1704 sony with 425 af point on a6400 still performs better than canon, so af point wouldn't be that much of a problem i guess but nikon af used to suck, interested to see the af performance of these
The upgrades may be incremental but they do help Nikon close the gap with the competition. I own a Z6 and I love it but I am actually thinking about getting a Z7II since I take stills and not video. I hope we can see a more thorough test on the AF improvements.
Where is the glass to support the new mount???? 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8, 14-24mm f/2.8 S, 400mm, 600... Nikon just updated the lens roadmap but didn't give any dates. This system cannot go far without supporting lenses and the lens adapter is just a band-aid. They missed the opportunity on the Mark 1 release and this release should have had a plethora of lenses to support it. The Nikon ship is sinking.
One of the coolest review of the new generation Z cameras. I am at a crossroad, hesitant to migrate to mirrorless territory after more than 30 years of using NIKON DSLRs. It is true that the Zs are really upgraded and convenient cameras. But I will miss the robust, rounded and hefty bodies of DSLRs not to forget the easy to use function buttons laid out conveniently on the body of the cameras. Ever since the mirrorless cameras were rolled out the design and the look of these cameras had always set me back from buying. Of course look is a subjective matter but every body will agree that mirrorless cameras look quite linear and quite empty on the top and always too small one ends up buying the dedicated bracket because their pinky slips. Design wise it is going back to the FM series but with add on hand grip. But one thing I like about the second generation Z series is that it is battery grip compatible (as I do portrait, a grip is a must) and the coupling is done by inserting the protruded part of the grip into the body of the camera which i think will be more secure than the ones available with the high end DSLRs like D850. No matter how much the company claims there is always a noticeable movement where DSLR bodies join the grip. Maybe time has come to migrate to the mirrorless territory and thanks to your review.
It is our understanding that the firmware update can be done by the user, however this will be confirmed closer to the date of release on the firmware update.
Sounds like some great upgrades in the Z system. Just wondering if they did anything with the audio preamps of the Z6ii, so it is better sound quality over Z6. No mention at all.
Jake, which one of the Nikon 7 II and the Nikon 6 II , do better at 4K 60 FPS livestream, or recording, in terms of color quality, and imaging ? ❤️ I talked with a Nikon representative, and I am waiting for an answer to this question.
Yep, I'll be doing the same with both my Z6 and Z7.. Many people on this comment section aren't familiar with the way Nikon does things. The only difference is they are calling them the II's. Usually it's just called the S version. This is a constant with this company and I will be upgrading. Then again I use them professionally and the Z7 has let me down a few times at events and weddings with it's weak autofocus compared to the competition.
@@user-pn2xt3jw1i I do admit it never sat well with me. But yes the XQD cards are much more robust than an SD card. I wouldn't say they never fail but they rarely fail. I would have a backup station and I would dump cards every once in a while. I have 4 128gb XQD cards and I would only shoot for a little before swapping out and dumping the other card which would be saving to a raid 0 drive. Wasn't pretty but it is what it is. These are the cameras I have.
@@user-pn2xt3jw1i Everything fails, so redundancy is always good. The real issue is, are SD cards et al. the weak link that people (usually loyal to another brand) insist? Do you have any actual data on the failure rate of modern, relevant cards?
Important question: is 10bit N-log in 60fps possible for the Nikon Z 7II via HMDI out? (Ninja V) Because officially the Nikon Z 7II should only be possible with 12bit ProRes in 30fps output and not 60fps.
This is all we know so far: Eligible for an optional ProRes RAW upgrade, enabling the camera to output ProRes RAW footage to a compatible Atomos external recorder. This upgrade provides greater color grading flexibility with the ProRes codec along with the ability to output uncompressed 12-bit raw footage over HDMI. This upgrade will be available in early 2021. >Mark
Now that the new Nikon cameras have Dual EXPEED 6 Processors and 2 card slots designated for very fast types of cards, will the new cameras be able to record video into both cards for redundancy??
According to Mark Cruz, senior product manager at Nikon, he states the dual memory card storage options would be overflow (when one card is filled, it immediately starts to use the second card), backup (the same data is written to both memory cards simultaneously), or shooting RAW images to one card and JPEG images to a second card when recording video. Unfortunately, they did not indicate dual video recording as a option with the dual memory card setup.
I'm a Nikon and Canon user currently using the D600, D800 Nikon dSLR's and the Canon 6D and 5Ds and I've been thinking about getting into a mirrorless body and the problem I have with Nikon is the lack of AF compatibly with my older Nikon, Tamron, Tokina and Sigma lenses. With the Canon R5 and R6 everyone of my Canon EF lenses some of which were made in the 1980's AF with those bodies with appropriate R mount adapter which is something I can't do with Nikon! I didn't but the AF Nikkor 85 f/1.4 to focus manually nor did I buy my Sigma 300 f/2.8 HSM and 500 f/4.5 HSM lenses to focus manually, I got them for their great image quality plus they auto focus. Long story short, I want to get into a system that doesn't require a major lens upgrade to maintain auto focus and Nikon doesn't care about photographers with older lenses and mirrorless bodies, this is the reason Canon and Sony out sell Nikon. I've been using Nikon since 1975 and love every one of their camera and lenses but I can no longer support Nikon!
@@BandH ah thank you very much Mark, that’s great to know 👍 I’d personally take the less sharp (nearly) Full frame 4K60 from the Z7ii over the probably sharper crop 4K60 of the Z6ii
The burst rate is confusing. With all the fine print it is hard to compare. I am coming from a D500. Shooting 14 bit raw lossless compression at 10fps into an XQD card in AF-C, single point or group mode, full auto focus and auto exposure and no concern of reaching the buffer limit. Specs say around 200 shots to reach the buffer limit. Never got there. How many fps will I get with both the 6ii and 7ii and what is the buffer limits using similar settings as I have outlined for the D500? Also, do I need to have a CF Express card to reach these numbers or will my XQD and SD cards reach these numbers?
Unfortunately, as of the date/time of this reply, we do not know. The *Tech Specs* tab on Nikon USA's website list under the Shutter section indicates the top continuous shooting speed at full resolution is 14 frames per second. More information referring to burst speed at different settings, buffer size, and number of images would typically be listed in the instruction manual. Unfortunately, as the camera was just announced yesterday and as only pre-production cameras are currently being used for reviews, the instruction manual has not yet been released by Nikon for more detailed information about burst shooting.
Thank you for your review. I was a Nikon shooter for years. My last Nikon is my D810 and D750. I still have both of cameras along with my Nikkor lenses. I moved to Micro 43rds about 5 years ago. I am not convinded that Olympus and Panasonic will continue to upgrade their cameras and lenses for the Micro 4/3rds system. As this equipment stands, they are excellent, but what will their future be? Now I am questioning if it is time to go back to Nikon on their new Mirrorless cameras. My biggest interest would be the speed and accuracy of the auto focus system for "birds in flight". I'm interested in auto focus that can track moving objects quickly and with a high degree of in focus accuracy. Lets say over 80% in focus. What do you think?
The Nikon Z7 II Mirrorless Digital Camera does not have a "Pro Capture" Mode similar to the mode found in the Olympus OM-D E-M1X Mirrorless Digital Camera. However, the camera does have Nikon's *Focus Shift Mode,* which would be Nikon's version of in-camera focus stacking feature.
Only one manufacturer does this, and that's Canon. It's a neat idea, but you have to turn off the camera and wait for it to perform the action. For an event photographer that needs to switch lens fast, this feature will not work. I think this is a great feature for landscape photographers.
@@Smoothblue90 well in the case someone needed to take 35 photos in a row (buffer size of Mark 1 with RAWs) and more photos immediately afterwards, then you're right 😂
While a direct comparison to the A9 II and A7R III have not been made with the Z7 II, the autofocus is excellent when shooting continuous based on our findings.
I´m happy for that new camera. Great with two card slots on Z7II and reliable usb-c, for tethering. I was testing Z7 and I´m stoked about the quality and a stable cable connection. I´m just waiting for the Z7II to be available and I will make and upgrade from my old buddy, the D800. I was using the standard F (24-70 and 70-200, 2.8) lenses on Z7 and they performed excellent with an adapter. Well done Nikon! I´m happy that I don´t need to make transition to Canon or Sony.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there meant to be a flippy screen on the new model? A thousand bucks over the old model seems a bit excessive for a few minor upgrades. I also wanted an integrated cup holder and a peanut dispenser. Thanks, Nikon!!!
Unfortunately, I am not certain. While the Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II were used in the above video, the cameras were pre-production models, and the final production cameras have not yet begun to ship. According to Mark Cruz, a Senior Product Manager at Nikon, they have added an option to use Eye AF and Animal AF in Wide Area AF Mode, which makes it possible to only look for eyes in a smaller area of the frame. This allows you to isolate your preferred subject from other people, animals, or distracting objects outside the selected area. You may also use both Eye AF and Animal AF during video recording. Also, the Canon EOS R5 and R6 Mirrorless Digital Cameras are also still in short supply and on pre-order/back-order, but those who have been able to test the camera have stated it has great Eye AF and Animal AF performance. We will have to wait until the Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II are actually available and for users to get the cameras in-hand to be able to see comparison testing between the cameras.
In comparing the original Z7 with the D850, the main advantage of the form is the lightweight body and built in stabilization, which are two handy features to have for those handholding the camera. Otherwise, both cameras will produce excellent image quality for shooting landscapes.
Unfortunately, no, I am not sure when the Nikon Z7 II will be listed as "In Stock" on our website. The Nikon Z7 II Mirrorless Digital Camera is a new camera that has recently been announced, but which also is shipping from Nikon in small quantities at this time. We currently do not have inventory of the camera, although the camera is available for pre-order by clicking the blue "ADD TO CART" button on our website. All pre-orders must be filled before the camera will be listed as "IN STOCK" online or in our NYC Superstore, and pre-orders will be shipped in the order in which they were originally received. The best I can state is if you are sure you want to purchase the Nikon Z7 II, the fastest way would be to place a pre-order for the unit, as you would be in the queue to receive the camera in the order in which the pre-order was placed. Otherwise, if you would rather wait for the item to be listed as "IN STOCK" in our inventory before placing your order, I would recommend to click the white "Request Stock Alert" button on our website on the link included below and enter your e-mail address, and we will e-mail you once the item is in stock and available for shipping or store pickup.
Interesting that B&H had the pre-order but Adorama didn't. Regardless, I'm upgrading from the D800. The learning curve should take about a year or two! LOL! Will I be able to charge my batteries right in the camera? And if yes, even with the MB-11? Will I "NEED" a card reader? Or can I transfer to my Mac via WiFi? How do most people use the 2nd card slot? My D800 has 2 slots. I used the 2nd slot for overflow.
Daniel Stockfield always use the 2nd slot for backup. It stays in the camera while I use card 1 in a card reader or laptop slot. It has saved my bacon more than once.
I have only used the second card slot for redundancy. Both cards have the same files. I don't know about transferring via wifi but you can transfer via usb C right from the camera on the Z6 and Z7. I'm sure it's the same on these new ones.
You would be able to charge your battery in the Z6 II/Z7 II with or without the MB-N11 attached. A card reader would be recommended since these cameras cannot send images directly via Wi-Fi to a Mac. It is possible to use the second card slot on these cameras just as you would with your current D800.
Yes, both the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Digital Camera and the Nikon Z7 II Mirrorless Digital Camera offer in-camera battery charging via the camera's USB-C port. Nikon states that with a universal USB Type C cable (sold separately), you can provide constant power to the Z 7II, charge your battery, stream footage and transfer photos and videos. Nikon also states that the MB-N11 features a USB-C connection which means you can power the batteries from a portable charger or AC power supply, even while connected to a computer. Or charge the batteries within the grip via USB when you’re not using the camera. You may transfer ull resolution RAW images, JPGs and even 4K video files right to your phone, wirelessly. You may also transfer your shots directly to a PC or Mac over Wi-Fi, but it requires the use of Nikon's free Wireless Transmitter Utility software. You may use the second memory card slot either for overflow (as you state you are currently using), or you may record videos to one memory card and still images to another memory card, or you may record RAW images to one card, and JPEG images to the second card. Which option you choose will depend on which may best fit your shooting style, if you are shooting both RAW and JPEG images, or if you are shooting both video and still images. However, an immediate backup or overflow are both popular options.
Very nice review. however, i am wondering about AF, especially on tracking / lock in focus of flight bird... are they as good as D850? D5, D6 or very much as Z7 after firmware update?
We have not tested these cameras in any kind of side-by-side comparisons. But given the D850's 153-point AF system and 7 fps continuous shooting compared to these new cameras Dual EXPEED 6 Image Processors, 273-Point Phase-Detect AF System and 14 fps continuous shooting, I would not hesitate to recommend them for bird and nature photography. >Mark
Nice video! I own the D5 D850 and the D500 with 25 Prime F mount Nikon lenses including the 600mm E FLED 500mm PF 300mm PF 200mm f:2 etc.. Is it worth it to get into the mirrorless game yet? I waited for Version 2 of these cameras and it's finally here, or should I wait for the Z9 which is the D6 Mirrorless equivalent? Thanks in advance!
If you are interested in purchasing a mirrorless digital camera, I think the Nikon Z7 II Mirrorless Digital Camera would be a very good option for your usage needs. The main benefits the Nikon D6 DSLR camera (or an equivalent Z-series camera option) would have over the other cameras you've listed above (from my perspective) would be continuous burst speed with continuous autofocus and battery life. If you are shooting sports or fast-moving subjects, then you may wish to rent a mirrorless camera for a few days and put it through the paces to see if it will fit your tracking and autofocus needs. For all other usages, I think the mirrorless cameras would be on equal footing, and in regards to video performance, would exceed the performance of your current DSLR cameras.

With the wide area eye AF does the camera keep the eye in focus if you half press the shutter and recompose moving the face out of the wide area focus. In other words once you half press the shutter release does the camera kep tracking the eye if the subject move out of the wide area box?
Would have appreciated a better LCD resolution like Panasonic S1. Missing on Z 6ll is a bottom body extension grip for our little finger better holding Ergonomics alongwith FTZ adaptor as standard. The Vertical Grip with battery is pretty expensive.
I had a really right stuff plate for my Olympus M1. Not the mark II, the original one. That was just enough more for my little finger and had an opening so you could replace the battery through it. And it slid into an ARCA Swiss mount. I would think someone, possibly Really Right Stuff, would make one of those for this camera.
I would say that the overall autofocus and low-light performance will not be better or substantially better than the d750. The difference is going to be in the shooting experience. Using an evf. Having auto focus points that go all the way to the edge of the frame. Having a autofocus point joystick. Having some sort of eye autofocus. The problem that I noticed on Facebook with the Z6 was that so many of the Z6 owners like the new camera so much I believe that they were overstating how much better they felt it was than the d750. I read at least two people who sold their Z6 to go back to the d750. And one person who said that the Z7 performance was not as quick as his d850. So Snappy performance has continued to be with the DSLRs.
I am so on the fence. I love my Nikon d500. And I like my Nikon d750. And I do video with an Olympus e-m1 Mark II. I would love too mush all that into one camera.
Going with the Z7 II specifically, there would be a significant jump in resolution over the D750. Also, you're gaining a lighter body, a very high ISO range, Eye AF, and built in stabilization.
I'm just wondering if it worth a hobby guy like me to sell my Z6 and get the Z6II? I like it but I noticed that the autofocus is even better on my D5200. I took my Z out on astro shots and it did great.
I’m thinking about purchasing the Z7II I already have the D850 and D810. Will my Tamron 35 1.4 G2, and my Tamron 24-70 G2 and my Tamron 70-200 G2 be compatible with the Z7II. Thanks 🙏🏾🙏🏾

According to page 111 of the reference manual for the Z6 II, the extended shutter speeds for long exposures as slow as 900s can be accessed via the Custom Function d6.
I am that categorys boy who only feel happy by spectating those images, videos. Who want to be a cinematographer want buy a camera but this is impossible for me.
is this camera made for video or photography? why everyone only taste the photography in the real world, and just talking about video capabilities? How can we purchase this as a travel videographer?
I'm thinking not since the problem with the old z6 and z7 is the fact that they didn't put electronics in the camera for the battery grip to communicate with the camera.
hi, is it possible to record a 30 seconds "voice memo" in these 2 new cameras?. If so, tell if it is necessary to use the battery grip or just the body by itself. Thanks
While using the MB-N11 would be useful in providing additional power to the camera, Nikon has not published whether the Z6II/Z7II are capable of adding a 30 second voice memo to still images.
The cameras we carry would come with the most recent firmware available from the manufacturer at the time the camera was shipped to us from Nikon. As the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Digital Camera was just recently announced and is still shipping from the manufacturer, I expect it will have the current firmware available (especially as Nikon has not listed any firmware updates for the Nikon Z6 II as of the date/time of this reply). Depending on how long the Nikon Z6 has been in our inventory (or the time it took to ship from Japan to Nikon USA), as Nikon released the most recent firmware upgrade (version 3.12) on October 15, 2020, the original Nikon Z6 you receive may or may not have the most recent firmware. In either case, the firmware update from Nikon is a free download on their website, and I recommend to always check the firmware update listed in your camera upon receipt. If the camera you receive does not have the most recent firmware, you may download it from Nikon's website for free; the instructions to update the firmware are also listed on Nikon's website.
These are some great upgrades! I have one issue with z6 - silent mode is disabled in the build in interval timer shooting when the camera is set to take bracketed exposures. When using external intervallometer, its possible to do silent bracketed exposures for a timelapse, but I wish I was able to do it without external inrervallometer. Any idea if this is resolved in the z6ii?
Thanks for your interest in the Z6 II. Unfortunately, Nikon has not yet published any information regarding the silent mode being disabled when utilizing the built in interval timer. As soon as more information is released, we will make some updates.
@@BandH thanks for the reply. Its only disabled when you shoot bracketing when utilizing the build in interval timer. Without bracketing you can shoot in silent mode and interval timer.

The updates are nice but incremental and should have been included in the original release anyway. To me, they don't warrant the II designation. I would have liked to have seen a more in-depth review of the AF system. That said, I've been waiting to upgrade my D810 to mirrorless and would consider this worthy of my $3K investment.
I have 3 Tamron lens that I own with my D850 and D810, looking to get a Z7II. Can the Tamron 35mm 1.4 G2, the 24-70MM 2.8 G2, and the 70-200MM 2.8 G2 work with the FTZ adapter for the Z7II. I really appreciate your help.

How quickly people forget. If these were released 2 years ago they would have been easily the best mirrorless cameras available and well ahead of their time.
On the Z6 II, you can get 410 shots with the LCD and 340 shots on the EVF. With the Z7 II, that would be 420 shots with the LCD and 360 shots on the EVF.

Z 6II can not do 4K 60p because of the sensor limitation. It's good sensor, but its old. No camera with this sensor can do 4K 60p! Now you have better autofocus in video. That's it, basically + grip and new battery. 2 years of R & D = this.

The Z6II and the Z7II are near identical judging off this video, aside from the megapixels being vastly different. I don't think that justifies a $1000+ markup though..
What I find extremely disappointing, is that the Z6II/Z7II don't support RAW output out of the box. Shipping your camera to Nikon for that and having to pay $199 is idiotic.
No it isn’t. They have to pay licensing fees to Apple and BM, if they put it in each model the prices would have probably been $800 more. These cameras suck for many other reasons this is not one of them.
Unfortunate that this review largely just regurgitates what we can read on Nikon’s website, rather than a hands on review as the title of this video states.
Which of Nikon’s newest cameras would suit your needs?
None, honestly. A7S III and R6 are much better deals at this price point. On the other hand, if you slash the prices of the Original Z6 under 1000 USD... that would definitely be tempting.

They missed the opportunity on the Mark 1 release and this release should have had a plethora of lenses to support it. The Nikon ship is sinking.

Great upgrades on already great cameras!
Can you do the February 2021 firmware update by yourself via downloading and installing it with a card or do you have to send it in to be updated?
It is our understanding that the firmware update can be done by the user, however this will be confirmed closer to the date of release on the firmware update.
so both models next year will have blackmagic raw options or just the z7ii?
Sounds like some great upgrades in the Z system. Just wondering if they did anything with the audio preamps of the Z6ii, so it is better sound quality over Z6. No mention at all.
Jake, which one of the Nikon 7 II and the Nikon 6 II , do better at 4K 60 FPS livestream, or recording, in terms of color quality, and imaging ? ❤️
I talked with a Nikon representative, and I am waiting for an answer to this question.
The Nikon Z 7II has the edge in terms of video recording currently with its superior sensor and it is 4K/60p right out of the box. >Mark
New batteries nice. How much is it improved compared to previous ones?
The EN-EL15Ç offers about 20% more capacity versus the previous model and it can be charged via USB-C in camera aside from using the external charger.
I'll definitely be upgrading my Z7 to a Z7 II
Yep, I'll be doing the same with both my Z6 and Z7.. Many people on this comment section aren't familiar with the way Nikon does things. The only difference is they are calling them the II's. Usually it's just called the S version. This is a constant with this company and I will be upgrading. Then again I use them professionally and the Z7 has let me down a few times at events and weddings with it's weak autofocus compared to the competition.
nice - I will be moving from the Z6 to the Z7ii
It’s awesome that 99% of their script from the Z6/7 release from 2018 was still usable!
Important question: is 10bit N-log in 60fps possible for the Nikon Z 7II via HMDI out? (Ninja V)
Because officially the Nikon Z 7II should only be possible with 12bit ProRes in 30fps output and not 60fps.
This is all we know so far:
Eligible for an optional ProRes RAW upgrade, enabling the camera to output ProRes RAW footage to a compatible Atomos external recorder.
No
According to Mark Cruz, senior product manager at Nikon, he states the dual memory card storage options would be overflow (when one card is filled, it immediately starts to use the second card), backup (the same data is written to both memory cards simultaneously), or shooting RAW images to one card and JPEG images to a second card when recording video. Unfortunately, they did not indicate dual video recording as a option with the dual memory card setup.
@@BandH they explicitly stated video redundancy to both cards would not be supported in another marketing video.
Didn't say if the Z7ii 4K60 is full frame or not. You specified this with the 6 but not the 7?
The Z7 II, has a 1.08 times crop on 4K/60p video and uses the full sensor width for 4K at 30 fps. >Mark
@@BandH ah thank you very much Mark, that’s great to know 👍
I’d personally take the less sharp (nearly) Full frame 4K60 from the Z7ii over the probably sharper crop 4K60 of the Z6ii
1:40 talk about that video mode lcd lag. Looks reduced but still there
Yeah, the lag with my Z6 running into my atomos is horrible.
Can’t wait to get the z7ii!!!
If the AF of this camera performs as good as canon's and sony's, the value of my current Z6 will sink (is sinking already)...worth upgrading ?
I agree. I also want to know that.

Does the Z7 II have a 'pro capture' mode like the M1X? Focus stacking? Thanks...Nice promo.
Any noticeable improvements in AF-Speed?

Sirs , what do I do with my D850’s and allll of my lenses
Question: will the shutter close while changing out lenses? I know the previous models didn't. I'd like this feature in a mirrorless camera.
Only one manufacturer does this, and that's Canon. It's a neat idea, but you have to turn off the camera and wait for it to perform the action. For an event photographer that needs to switch lens fast, this feature will not work. I think this is a great feature for landscape photographers.
Unfortunately, the Z6 II / Z7 II lack this feature.

To be able to have more photos in the buffer doesn't make the camera 'faster' !
It ... makes ... it ... faster ... than ... the ... Z6 ... when ... the ... buffer ... was ... full ...
@@Smoothblue90 well in the case someone needed to take 35 photos in a row (buffer size of Mark 1 with RAWs) and more photos immediately afterwards, then you're right 😂
How is the Z7 II performance for focusing on birds in flight in continuous shooting? How does it compare with the Sony A9II and A7R III
While a direct comparison to the A9 II and A7R III have not been made with the Z7 II, the autofocus is excellent when shooting continuous based on our findings.
Can't wait to get my hands on the Z6ii!!! Trying to sell my Z6 in the mean time.
Nikon in 2030: yea, so we cannot afford to create a new processor so here is the same one from the original Z6 again, but we will give you 14 of them.
Nikon really makes a lot of mistakes. If he had presented these features 2 years ago, he would have been in a different position now.
Hear hear, this is a z6/z7 s upgrade not a version ii, I guess the version iis aren't priced higher than the version 1s is that something?
Sonys OG A7 had the same items missing. No one cared then?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there meant to be a flippy screen on the new model?
A thousand bucks over the old model seems a bit excessive for a few minor upgrades.
I also wanted an integrated cup holder and a peanut dispenser.
Thanks, Nikon!!!
Thousand bucks? It looks like they are the same price?
Regarding the multiple exposure. Earlier it would shoot the file in RAW. Doest it shoot it in raw now?
As far as we know, it will shoot the multiple exposures in RAW format. >Mark
What strobe lights are you using on burst mode?
Can you comment on the usability of the 'improved' eye detect AF as compared to the Canon R5 and R6?
Has the z7 II still got the crappy banding when bringing up the shadows?
Only if you don’t know how to expose properly and try to pull five stops from the shadows
Would there be any reason to chose the z7 over the d850? Specifically for landscape photography.
In comparing the original Z7 with the D850, the main advantage of the form is the lightweight body and built in stabilization, which are two handy features to have for those handholding the camera. Otherwise, both cameras will produce excellent image quality for shooting landscapes.
So I can out HDR mode on my Nikon Z6ii?

The Z7 II doesn’t seem to be available from B&H. Any idea when that will change?
It should be a camera worth waiting for. Other stores don't seem to have it in stock either. Thanks for the info!
Mark I - 1 Card; Mark II - 2 Cards.What else?

Yes it is possible for the camera to keep the eye in focus if you half press the shutter and recompose.

There is one available from Meike MK-Z7G, but I expected a better constructed one coming as Rumoured Z-G1 from Nikon.
How much of an upgrade would it be to either one of these cameras coming from D750?
What's the point of Nikon's event later in the day if a retailer is showing the cameras and doing an initial hands-on?
I'm just wondering if it worth a hobby guy like me to sell my Z6 and get the Z6II? I like it but I noticed that the autofocus is even better on my D5200. I took my Z out on astro shots and it did great.
You're saying the autofocus was better on your D5200?

@@BandH thank you. So, I will skip this body as well, until Nikon adds this feature to their new cameras.
Nicely done. Very informative.
So my question is: if I buy a Z6-Z6ll today are they come with the lasted firmware updates?

Help Does it records video in both cards same time for backup ?
Yes one card can act as a backup for video files.
Ordered the Z7 II kit!
Can anyone confirm whether the cameras can write video to both cards at the same time?
According to Mark Cruz, senior product manager at Nikon, he states the dual memory card storage options would be overflow (when one card is filled, it immediately starts to use the second card), backup (the same data is written to both memory cards simultaneously), or shooting RAW images to one card and JPEG images to a second card when recording video. The updates are nice but incremental and should have been included in the original release anyway. To me, they don't warrant the II designation.

@@goingfurther8092 I hope so. Nikon really dropped the ball with this release! Looks like I'll hold on to my Z7 until 2021 smh......
@@elonlove343 same I rather just hold on to my Z6 and keep it as a backup camera for my next camera purchase next year.
Can you just record with that damn atomos? so we can see how good the AF is or isnt?
Isn't this the camera which should have been announced about 2 years ago? Nikon...
How quickly people forget. If these were released 2 years ago they would have been easily the best mirrorless cameras available and well ahead of their time.
What mirror less camera for begginer under 100$?
Under $100? Try a pinhole camera
Amazon PrimeDay is going on....check the toy section? :-)
Dash cam
A camera from wish made up of unused dashcam camera.
Battery life?
On the Z6 II, you can get 410 shots with the LCD and 340 shots on the EVF. With the Z7 II, that would be 420 shots with the LCD and 360 shots on the EVF.
I'll wait for the 6III and 7III. it was just yesterday the first versions came out. new versions coming out so fast now, i'm frightened to buy when a few weeks later a next version comes out. Nikon....
get it right the first time.
Is there possibilities for selfie videos in either Z s??
Litrellay my heartbroken when I saw 4k60p only in DX 💔
We didn't ask for 8k nor 4k 120fps or 90 fps..
We didn't ask for 14/16fps..
we were asking for jst 4k 60 fps Fullframe full pixel readout 10bit N log 4:2:2 internal recording for a 2021 camera for videographers
We were asking for an eye af we can completely rely on even the subject is 5 to 6 meters away with a 50mm for photographers
We were asking to show sm image quality improvement over a 3 year old D850 ..
8fps in Z7ii and 9fps in Z6ii
in 14bit RAW in 2021?!
That's really all we've been asking. Sony here I come
Z 6II can not do 4K 60p because of the sensor limitation. It's good sensor, but its old. No camera with this sensor can do 4K 60p! Now you have better autofocus in video. That's it, basically + grip and new battery. 2 years of R & D = this.
Well, they won't set the comment sections on YT on fire, but for the price (that will go down undoubtedly) these seem pretty good. And the Z6 and Z7 mark I now become even better value fullframe options. There is room for a more video centric model though.
Great camera for 2018!
I wanna see footage.
all i know is the price of the mark 1 models has to drop substantially & i find it weird the lens line up is lacking heavily but they decided to drop new cameras 🙄
That’s what people focus on nowadays lol. People only care about the next body not the lenses etc.
Just seems that all new cameras are pushing video specs. I couldn’t care less about video. Will never have to upgrade
finally... the Blackmagic RAW Option :))
B&H is not respondig to email not in chat, lots of problems lately. Seem to have changed from a ok store, to just a mess !

So is ProResRAW built in the Z6 II or is it still an additional fee like the Z6?
It'll be an additional fee...
The Z6 II has built in 12 bit ProRes RAW.
But still 4k30p and no AF! So it's exactly the same as the Z6???
Well a near perfect cameras the Z7ii looks so nice now its time to make the jump from my D850, with the only spanner is should I waite for the rumoured Z9. I am not sure........ Thank you Nikon and B&H.
Z7ii is 4 grand. The Z9 will probably be 7 grand. Easy choice if what you need is something like a D850.
The Z6II and the Z7II are near identical judging off this video, aside from the megapixels being vastly different. I don't think that justifies a $1000+ markup though..
The Z6 was $2500 and the Z7 was $3500 at launch so these are cheaper
@@MrAyybee2cold and better
What I find extremely disappointing, is that the Z6II/Z7II don't support RAW output out of the box. Shipping your camera to Nikon for that and having to pay $199 is idiotic.
Why do you say that ?
No it isn’t. They have to pay licensing fees to Apple and BM, if they put it in each model the prices would have probably been $800 more. These cameras suck for many other reasons this is not one of them.
@@goingfurther8092 You're confused again. Sounds like operator error. LOL. They suck? There not even out yet, cletus.
@@jbilly24 ? What are you even referring to?
Unfortunate that this review largely just regurgitates what we can read on Nikon’s website, rather than a hands on review as the title of this video states.
Z 1,5 :(
the crucial point is.......HOW IS THE AF!!!! my god i cant believe you didnt put 80% of the review on that!
You may want to check out our Live Panel Discussion regarding these cameras which touches on the autofocus. bit.ly/2FwawOf
That didn't really tell us anything we didn't know.
I seriously hope there is more to know, but doubt it
