  • Today we take a look at a impulse buy of a FC 3.5 Pro. It's my first knife by White River, so far I'm impressed!

    That is a good looking quality knife that is so practical for what it was designed for. I have a custom knife very similar to that one with Kydex sheath. To me, for such kinds of outdoor knives, leather sheaths just don't make sense to me. Yes, I know they look good, do the job, and not many actually have an issue with them but to me any knife sort of labeled with the 'survival' category, that means it's not easy to keep things from getting wet. Having spent a lot of time in the outdoors in wilderness, mother nature doesn't care about what you think it was supposed to be like and things you need to be handy at all times must be handy at all times, not sitting in your pack in a waterproof container of some sort. That little stream that was crossed and has been that way for a long time, could turn into a river rather quickly. Even crossing in 'low areas' could mean you are in deep. My point being, if I want something for survival, I want it to be able to take what can be dished out at it for however long the period may be, which could be a long time so I don't want leather that is wet keeping my knife wet and losing it's firm shape that can make the knife looser or even way tighter when dried.

    Man this knife is awesome. I’ve been on a huge fixed blade kick lately. I’m waiting for my Bradford Guardian 3 to get here. 😁 I like the fact that knife has a ferret rod built into the sheath. That’s dope. The ring on the handle is sweet too. Rings are awesome for quickly changing your hand position. I never really practice with a karambit so I definitely can’t utilize it to its max potential.

      That Bradford knife looks like a good one! I don’t have a whole lot of experience with fixed blade knives. I’ve never carried one for a daily carry, I’m just limited to a few little camping knives. I’ll be excited to watch your review and see which style you decided on.

      @@stevesgear I’ve learned with fixed blades that I love scout carry. So it doesn’t stick up and jab my. I like to carry my fixed blades at about 1 o’clock and when I’m sitting they are fine, but if I lean forward it jabs me in the gut. The Bradford sheath is also scout carry so I’m stoked about that. You might also like it at 6 o’clock position. Some also wear it cross draw for appendix carry. I prefer the 1 or 2 position vs 6. I don’t like having to reach behind me to grab it. Haha.
      I’ll have the video out soon. I really like your white river. And the blade steel is excellent. I opted for M390 on the Guardian. I don’t have any experience with that blade steel so we will see what I think. But I can tell you from experience, your going to love sharpening that steel you’ve got on your FC 3.5 and it holds an edge very well!

      @@FloridaBoyEDC Thanks for the advice. I’ll have to give the 1 o’clock or 2 o’clock position a try. I don’t have anything with M390 you’ll have to update how it is.

      @@stevesgear I will. You’ll have to make sure to do a update video on your White River. I’ve been looking at them for a while and want to hear your thoughts after you’ve carried and used it!

      @@FloridaBoyEDC I you’ll probably see it in some videos coming up soon. I think at the end of my next video I talk about something new I’m going to do occasionally for a video. You’ll get to see some real world use of that knife.

      Thanks! I really like it. I think for the price it’s a solid option.

    Curious to know if you can remove the ferro rod but keep the belt loop on?

    • @stevesgear
      @stevesgear  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can take the rod out and just use the clip.

    How is it to scout carry ?

    • @stevesgear
      @stevesgear  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve only scout carried it a handful of times. I like the way it carries. I’m a little bit bigger dude and it seems to work well for me. The only problem I have is once I pull the knife out and go to put it back in the sheath, I have a hard time getting it back in sometimes. But I think that’s more of a me problem than a knife problem. Hahaha
