For those curious, I later on set the home button sensitivity to "Slowest" and the over sensitivity pretty much disappeared. I would love to just replace the home button, but it's not an easy repair and I don't have the stuff to do the repair yet

For a 7, I don't think it's worth replacing the home button. The only way is microsoldering to keep touchid. If I recall, the fix for sensitive touchid is to replace the small ic. It usually cracks from bending the flex or from damage(in you're case might be the second one). In the future, heat the screen with a heat gun(from the front) just to get it warm. The flex should lift out very easy. Alternatively use a heat plate if you have one. Never pry on the flex. It's very easy to damage it. In this case, I'll probably leave it be and not replace the IC.

@@laurentiurosianu I found a way to do it using a tag on ribbon cable, but it requires programming, instead of trying to solder ribbon cables together, but it's still, as ya say, not really worth the effort

@@godbraxton1834 heating up the battery doesn't do a whole lot. Easiest way I've found for removing batteries if the adhesive tags break is to drop ISO alcohol around the battery, give it a moment to sink in, then lift the battery slowly with a pry tool that can't pierce the battery. It generally comes up relatively quickly. Still, I prefer trying to pull the battery adhesive out instead of using alcohol. Also, heating up the battery with a heatgun can be dangerous, since the heatgun can go way above the temperature limits of the battery. Could turn the battery into a spicy pillow, or a very dangerous sparkler.
