You'd need to not just find a gun but ammunition incorporating one of the various magical metals. Some demigods do use guns (or at least, there are guns available at camp half-blood), but traditional weapons are usually more popular due to magical ammunition being basically nonexistent outside the handful of demigod enclaves.

Then there's another scene in Lost Hero, wherein Leo crushes some cyclopes with an engine block hanging from the ceiling (they don't exactly die from it as the doors of death are open and so nothing's stopping them from just not dying, not to mention that monsters don't die in PJO canon the way that mortals die anyway, but that's another story, but i think it's fair to say it would have killed them) There's also a canon story that is not in the books about a mortal cop trying to fight a monster with a gun. In this case, the gun works differently, as it does destroy the monsters physical form, but only temporarily, with it rematerializing shortly after. All this the policeman does not see, because the mist is stopping him from doing so. The first mention of guns being used against monsters is in Titans Curse, where Annabeths dad uses a WW1 era biplane and kills monsters using the machine guns, though it is explained later on that he armed the guns with ammo made from various pieces of celestial bronze that Annabeth didn't seem to miss, and well, he got curious and tried to forge the metal. Ignoring the fact that this guy is a random mortal who can forge a magical metal (Probably part of why Athena liked him enough to make Annabeth happen), this confirms that guns with magical ammo can in fact kill monsters. Next mention i havn't talked about is in Lost Hero, where Piper goes into the weapons shed to pick out a weapon for herself. Inside, she notes a variety of weapons, including a Mossberg 500 shotgun. So yes, there are guns at CHB (Which, considering there is also Leo in CHB, just seems like a fundamentally irresponsible thing, but then again they let 12 year olds wield chainsaws in the arts and crafts room and the climbing wall includes actual lava, so i don't think it's the shotgun that'll make the Camp fail safety inspections) However, the important detail is delivered to us in Trials of Apollo, more specifically Burning Maze i think, where Apollo remarks about how, while you can kill monsters with guns, firstofall, this usually requires magical ammo, and even that can't always penetrate the hides of monsters. But even when it does, the ammo is one time use. Which is a problem, since metals that can kill monsters are hard to get in any serious quantity, so a sword is just more reliable. But even if those two things weren't problems you had to worry about, magic also tends to make guns malfunction, meaning they can be as deadly to you as to the monster you're trying to kill. Oh yeah, and finally, at one point in Heroes of Olympus, Mark of Athena i believe, a hydra is killed by a missile launcher, though iirc that's because it made the ceiling collapse, not because of a direct hit.
They should have had another disabled person in this movie and like the audience the whole time is like "What sort of hybrid will he be?! Oh man, I can't wait to see!" But it turns out he's just like a regular disabled guy tagging along.

Yeah the note at the end is weird. In the books Percy gives the head to his mom and then she uses it to turn Bill and his poker buddies into statues. She then sells the statues.
Probably my least favorite part of that book, it's straight up murder lol. It would be hilarious if it was a temporary thing that was only like 3 months, and it's implied that all of a sudden Bill just unfreezes in some guys art collection.
