    I wore the Saucony Pro 3 at the Brighton Half and it’s the most comfortable race shoe I’ve ever worn, no aches or pains in the feet unlike the Alphafly over the same distance, plus I got a massive PB in them 😊

      @Immortal__no, use Saucony triumph or even the speed 3 for easy runs

    Love the Brighton half - managed a completed unexpected 1:19:09 after being told by a surgeon I’d never run again a little over 18 months ago. Also love Saucony’s Endorphin range - the Speed 3 is possibly my favourite ever shoe, but given the price and your review, don’t think I’ll try the Elite.

    Hi Tom , I was just behind you at the Eastbourne 5 but quite a lot behind you at Brighton half, still got a 2 minute PB . 1:26:31 👍

      Very nice indeed. Yeah, I'm not sure where I picked up the speed from. I was going flat out at Eastbourne.

    Thanks Tom, congrats on PB, I really enjoyed the Brighton 1/2 albeit was running it as more of a training run, I thought atmosphere and crowds were great, will defo book my place in 2024.

      Yeah, you got a good year for it. Not quite so enjoyable in gale force winds. See you at track

    I also did the Brighton half as I'm pretty local, also got a PB 1:28:59 in the vaporflys, I saw you down at the start as we were in the same start block, was going to say hello but you were chatting to some other people, congrats on the PB!

    Got a PB, still prefers different shoe. That says a LOT.
    Heck of an effort, congrats!

    I tested the Endorphin Elite at a Half this weekend just gone and was impressed apart from the lack of grip on the outsole. I am actually finding the opposite from what most are saying and that it starts to come into it's own as I back off towards Marathon pace. I am also a little slower than you and I am only hitting the kind of paces that you were a year or so ago. I was 1:39 outside of my PB for a Half on Sunday despite attacking a PB not being the aim and having a bad 9th and 10th mile where I backed off to goal MP or slower. Congrats on the PB Tom, gives me some inspiration that I can still push on a little further.

    I wore the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 at the Brighton Half and had similar issue that you had with the elite. 1st half of the race was great, however got to the latter part of the race and was getting pain in my feet. I am going to try them again in a race and see if I have the same issue.

    Congrats on the unintentional PB. Man, I would love 2 try the Elites our, but TH-cam has me looking in other directions. I Love the Alphafly, so maybe I'll just upgrade to the Endorphin Pro, or the Alphafly 2.

    Tom, Congratulations on the pb. I did see you there I was the nutter on the phone who you gave a nod to after when you saw I noticed you. Brighton half is fantastic first time doing it there. I can’t wait for next year fingers crossed the weather will be the same again. Ps what shoe would you use/ recommend for getting to the downs road to trail sort of shoe for now and through summer I’ve been given the green light to purchase a pair. Take care.

    • @TheRunTesters
      @TheRunTesters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, good to hear from you. Was a great day out. I would say you want something like the Hoka Speedgoat, the Saucony Peregrine or maybe the NB Fuelcell Summit unknown V3. All good on the road but can handle the Downs well.

    Congrats on your PB! I'm curious to see how the shoes work for me. When they are discounted I'll be giving them a chance. Thanks for your insight.

      I got mine for £238 (still expensive but a lot better than £280) and made more appealing by being able to pick up the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro for £169

    Great job !!!! Maybe there is something to those shoes :-) not as comfortable but pushed you ! I hear the balance . For most of us the extra few min isn’t worth risking injury and longer recovery after …

    I’m thinking of doing my local half marathon at the end of April, but only if the weather is really nice. If it’s cold and windy then running for almost two hours is is really hard on my sinuses.

    Very interesting! I love the Saucony Pro 3 & will be wearing it in Boston. I hated the Alphafly. It helped me run faster, but it was uncomfortable & just too much going on. I couldn’t imagine taking it for a full. The Elite sounds about the same, so thank you. I’ll pass. Congrats on the unexpected PB. That’s always nice.

    • @MarkSmith_Best-Athletics
      @MarkSmith_Best-Athletics ปีที่แล้ว

      Far more comfortable than the Alphafly, the Elite just feels like a firmer and more aggressive Endorphin Pro 3 with far less upper and not as much grip on the outsole rubber on anything other than road tarmac. Great training shoe but I found the Pro 3 a little on the soft side to race in, especially over Marathon distance when the legs got tired.

  • @francoisnarrainen6413
    @francoisnarrainen6413 ปีที่แล้ว

    i have the Pro3 but have some shin pain with them which i dont have with Endorphin Edge for example, thanks for this review, i will not purchase those Elite, i dont think they will work for me

  • @TimGrose
    @TimGrose ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Little confused. You ran a PB in a shoe you do not seem to like that much. Does that mean you think you would have run faster in say the Endorphin Pro 3 or actually you would rather have run in a shoe you like and you don't care even if that was slower?

    • @TheRunTesters
      @TheRunTesters  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Difficult to say if I'd have run as fast or faster in the Pro 3 or Alphafly. But for the last 10k I'd have rather have been wearing a shoe I found comfortable and lost some time as a result. Might have got a good result but I don't fancy wearing them again for another race of that distance.

    • @MarkSmith_Best-Athletics
      @MarkSmith_Best-Athletics ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really strange because although I haven't ran much in them (a couple of miles and then a Half at the weekend where I didn't go all out but may have ran a PB if I did) I am getting the opposite feeling and thinking that these are comfortable and will come into their own for me over Marathon distance. Tom is a little quicker than me though and maybe I need something that's not quite as soft as the Pro 3 when my legs tire and form goes out the window? The Elite is not as comfortable as the Pro 3 but I don't find it uncomfortable at all and think for me it will be far more stable and keep me maintaining pace when the legs start to tire. At the moment I think that I will be likely wearing the Elite in my Spring Marathon, although it's far from a given yet with the Wave Rebellion Pro (which currently terrifies me at the thought of taking it over Marathon distance) and the Metaspeed Sky+ which I could still try over Marathon distance (think that I have 122 miles on them but have a fair idea of what they can do if saved for race day and I don't wish to go with one of the above) still options.
      Both pairs of my Endorphin Pro 3 have approx 280 to 310 miles on so will be using for training only now. The Pro 3 never quite worked for me last year as I chose to run in them over the Sky+ at many races (don't know why I did that after running Half and Marathon PB's in the first version of the Sky).

    • @MarkSmith_Best-Athletics
      @MarkSmith_Best-Athletics ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ps. 3 of my PBs over shorter distances are in the Alphafly v1 but I hate that shoe and only ran 39 miles in it before selling 😂 Most of the top end shoes are so close now and it is becoming more and more personal about what works best for the individual over a given distance plus comfort too.

    • @TimGrose
      @TimGrose ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MarkSmith_Best-Athletics yes agree differences are getting smaller and increasingly about personal preference on fit and ride. As such hard to prise Vaporflys off me but now got 3 types to choose from! Well if Nike ever get round to sending me the v3 I ordered last week.
