Justin picking up a new guitar, and just playing some random blues, you know, just whatever seems to come to mind, is the best music I can find on youtube for the last 12 months. Just some random blues.....

WOW It sounds like an old 1920's to 40's old recording on vinyl all it does not have is the crackling background noise you get on old record recordings. Great sounding guitar.

Feel like the kid looking through the window of the Candy Store at the 5 cent candy with only a penny in his pocket. While $2,700 is more modest than $3,935 it is still a pretty heavy chunk of change.
Both beautiful to hear and look at and awesome guitars to be clear but have to wonder how much more modest they could be with a less custom finish on the body and metal.
    Best!

These guitars are a really cool idea for a builder to get ahold of and do it for the first time they're probably going to be worth a lot of money in the future someday. They definitely do have a national resonator type of look to them

  • @BlondieG63

Love the smooth, rich sounds of these two beautiful resonators! I’d never even heard of a resonator prior to finding Justin several years ago and now it’s probably my favorite style guitar. I’m especially fond of the Gretsch; love it’s unique tone. Enjoyed this video and thanks for sharing your amazing work!

Several years back I purchased a National Resolectric lefty off the internet from a private party. Hadn't seen a solid body resophonic previously and being lefty, well, curiosity got the best of me, for many of the same reasons you cite about the Mules. Turned out at the time National had produced fewer than a half dozen Resolectric lefties. Anyway kudos to you for exposing the masses to solid body electric resophonics. And REALLY kudos to you for all the great music you've shared with us over time.

Quite the sound, from both models! I lean towards the "Modest" as it resonates just enough without one wishing they had a 10 watt amp just to hear it! Next thing you know you'll be testing the Enya carbon fiber guitfiddle! Heh...

Yeah, but did you also notice that little black face Fender combo amp (Princeton or Deluxe Reverb?) with its big red jeweled power light on? I suspect that's actually what we're hearing here. But only JJ knows for sure.

What was the action like from the shop? Was it like a tad higher than something like a Strat or a Tele? My non-mule reso came like that but it’s still low enough to easily fret chords and single note lines. But it’s great for slide.
