Convoluted plot, a) garaka has influence outside orb why? b) why not brainwash female ghost instead of ASKING her to trick phoebe? c) why not completely brainwash the female ghost and get HER to recite the spell why only phoebe? how the FAQ did garaka KNOW phoebe would take the ghost to HQ2, THEN know she wants to be a ghost THEN knows how to become one just to take over her body?
Melody hadn't heard the spell that Phoebe and others heard in the library that releases Garraka. The Possessor got it and then was taken back to HQ2 after it almost escaped with it, but the deed was done. And Garraka had sent Melody to gain Phoebe's trust because she's been feeling lonely and isolated through the movie. She was Garraka's spy.
>garaka has influence outside orb why? Leaky Can of Evil: Is a trope where Big Bad can influence the outside world a bit from inside its prison. The movie even shows that the Orb by itself isn't enough to keep Garraka psychic control over the ghosts in check, or use the Death Chill, so additionally the orb must be inside a brass lined chamber. >why not brainwash female ghost instead of ASKING her to trick phoebe? Melody spells it to you: Only a human can recite the chant. In fact, a whole plot before this was the possessor ghost trying to steal a human recording of the chant. >how the FAQ did garaka KNOW phoebe would take the ghost to HQ2, THEN know she wants to be a ghost THEN knows how to become one just to take over her body? It was a gambit and it was not his only option. He was inside the PRC pretty much hearing what was being done. He overheard Lars and Phoebe conversation about using the Ionic Separator. It was just a matter of find someone willing to do that. He also was capable of talking with the ghosts. He found the ghost of a who just happened to bond with Phoebe. Remember: The movie shows that even inside of the orb Garraka has a huge influence outside as long he's outside of the chamber.
I saw Frozen Empire 3 times at the cinema but this is the first time that I noticed that Melody actually jumps when Phoebe gets possessed by Garraka. Yes it was a stupid thing for Phoebe to do but even people as smart as Phoebe do stupid things sometimes. She's angry, not good with emotions and not thinking straight. I think Garraka's got Melody to do his dirty work for him but Melody soon realises that she quite likes Phoebe as a friend before anyone says otherwise. I quite liked Phoebe as a ghost 👻 though and the first thing she says is "Boo!" but we'd all do that in her position though wouldn't we? I keep saying this at every opportunity but McKenna Grace really is an unbelievably talented actress and singer. I was glad in the end that Phoebe was okay and she saved the world again.
>Yes it was a stupid thing for Phoebe to do but even people as smart as Phoebe do stupid things sometimes. Yeah, I agree. We even seen this before in other shows (Breaking Bad, Malcolm in the middle) and people seem to be just fine with them. I don't understand why they treat Phoebe differently, especially when the whole point of the movie is about Phoebe being still young and having a lot to learn. Plus, one thing I noticed is that a lot of people seem to miss that Phoebe did had no way to know Melody was working for Garraka. Maybe this point would have been better understood if it was just hinted or foreshadowed and then revealed in the Ionic Separator scene, instead of showing us a conversation between Melody and Garraka.

This scene makes no sense for phoebe as character if you actually watched ghostbusters afterlife that film establishes her as smart character the phoebe from afterlife would not do something this stupid if anything it out of character for her
Phoebe Spengler is a granddaughter of Egon Spengler. She's my hero. I love what she does & she's a ghostbuster just like her grandpa Egon Spengler. just love her instead hating her. I love Spengler Family.I might meet Phoebe Spengler soon.

It's almost like you selectively forgot about how she was pushed away by her mom and Gary and the whole team. She was hurt and needed more than just ghostbusting to feel better, Melody actually listened to her and she made a new friend. And really, this is the first time you see a teenage character doing something impulsively?
@@rosariomariadelpilarbenavidesm It's also a naive reading of the character and the whole concept of being smart. In Afterlife, Phoebe was also to be impulsive and having poor foresight of consequences. It that was not the case, she wouldn't have chased Muncher in a gunner seat, or gone to the interior of the mountain, threaten an American cop with a weapon or reach the border of the death pit when it was bubbling with angry ghosts. Frozen Empire shows this already existing characteristic of Phoebe in the frame of a relationship. Also, I can't believe we are still saying, post Breaking Bad, that smart characters can't take dumb emotionally mediated choices. Phoebe has the excuse she's still a 15 year old girl with an immature brain. Meanwhile, everyone is celebrating a 51 year old throwing himself at his DEA brother in law because he couldn't stand getting away with crime. Both are considered genius/smart in their own universes.
I like how Melody is clearly feeling terrible about herself throughout. She feels the weight of her betrayal.
