    I don't believe in open mindedness, but I do believe in following Hashem's system. Hashem gave us a system to follow (written and oral Torah), and Hazal explained the best way to follow it. They made the humrot that are appropriate to best observe the spirit of the law. That doesn't mean any humrot after hazal are automatically not good, but we should be very careful as self made humrot have a way of inflating the ego, making things about you and not about Hashem. It's a fine balance, perhaps no one knows exactly where that balance is, but it should be strived for with Hashem's help.

      Hashem never said dust and kitniot are chametz. I used to hate pesach for things like these.

    If you want to be strict, tell the women to wear a tichel (scarf) instead of wigs which are immodest and made from avodah zarah. That's much more important than not eating dust or kitniot on pesach.
