    As a Caloundra boy who's been living in Japan for 30 years, I really enjoyed this. It made me quite homesick. Maleny is a great place.

    Oh no Samantha! Such a wonderful variety of birds in Australia to enjoy. Hopefully you'll grow to like them too. 💖

    Wow, looks likes you had a great day. Shame about the winery, but your lunch at Maleny lane looks cool. Can't wait to see some other videos!

      It used to be a bit of a hobby winery years ago. Some vines there but most of their stock was made down south. Mount Tambourine has a few wineries whilst still being relatively local.

      Thanks guys, the only time it doesn't feel like a holiday is when I have to go to work!

    Samantha will go to the bird place if you go to a horse place!! 😉. So cool to see you totally embracing your new home in Australia and taking full advantage of the great weather up there. 👍

    Maleny is great, very chill, very expensive though. Best bookshop there. Montville, next town over, is more of a tourist area.

      Oooh, will try there next time

      @@ThatJohnstonLife Yes, the whole drive along the Maleny - Mapleton road is worthwhile. Montville is definitely tourist orientated. Mapleton is a nice little laid back village rather than the hustle and bustle of Maleny on a weekend.
      Or for a full day trip, continue through Maleny and onto Kenilworth. It's a little rural town close to the city. Get a feel of rural roads. And there's the cheese factory there. Some of their products make it to the supermarkets but they have a much wider range of product available for tasting and purchase. If you like dairy products, take a portable fridge for the return journey.
      If you're up to bushwalking there's a couple of small national parks in the hinterlands with worthwhile scenic walks.

    The lizard was a water dragon. They are usually found around water . sources like creeks and rivers.or man made water sources. Yeah probably not a good to grab them as they can definitely bite. The bacteria in their mouth could probably cause and infection. But that never stopped my cousin Nichole from catching them for pets. When she was a little kid .Things were a bit more relaxed back in the 70s and 80s😂 . They're pretty harmless though and kinda cool to watch. down near some creeks you'll see a whole bunch of them interacting and sometimes squabbling over a spot to sunbake or a nasty bug. Pretty entertaining 😃

    i know that people who do grocery shopping in hot towns like dubbo always take a large chilled esky in he car for the grocery item to keep them cold.

    yeah, the dog...uhm, yeah... couldn't film that? I think you guys could film more of the town.. it's mainly you two talking.. which you can do anywhere...

      @@ThatJohnstonLife I didn't say that. I watched to see what Maleny was like, but didn't see much of it at all. That's all, would have been nice if you had shown us more of the town. Seeing as though you were there.

    Fridge-to-go lunch bags are great for lunches. Buy online from them direct. But yeah it was the weirdest thing ever on our UK holiday having people tell us to buy lunch at 9am and just put it in our bags all day and NOT have it kill us from food poisoning. Because we are used to having to immediately refrigerate everything or at least a cool bag

    • @ThatJohnstonLife
      @ThatJohnstonLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know. It now makes sense why all the kids at the school I teach are walking round with mini eskys. I'm a bit jealous. We've invested in some cooler bags now. At least our shopping will last a little longer!! Thanks for watching

      Even stranger was not usually having a fridge in the motel room. Want something cold overnight? Just leave it on the window ledge!
