Just discovered this channel, it's amazing as an Em fan since 2005 to listen some of these old tracks I've been looking for since more than 15 years ago. I think you , DJ Butter, should really get in touch with Em to see if you can make something and release these tracks commercially. Thats a glimpse of the earlier history of a 2000's rap legend, and I think you deserve recognition for havin a part in it.

Well, we're still friends, but neither he nor I are interested in releasing any of this material commercially, sorry. As well; I'm not D.J. Butter, as he's another deejay from Detroit and not associated with us at all. The site, Genius, has me confused with him for some ludicrous reason.

Hey Dj Butter Fingers. I don't know much about Dj's, or how people manage the rap beats, but you are actually insane in these Soul Intent songs. You were making history back in the day when you guys were making these songs.
I only wish you got some more popularity, because you were Eminem's first stepping stones into recording. Thank you bro for helping pave the way for good music to still exist 🙏

    [Verse 1: Eminem]
A new day is dawned upon us, the grass is green
It's time for the letter thirteen
To make an entrance and put my foot forward
And take a step forward, now take the scene
That's fine, the setup with your cold busted deaf rhymes
I've heard enough of that to last me a lifetime
The fuse is lit, now just stay clear from
And prepare your eardrums to hear some fierce piercing
    An ear-piercing sound
Lyrics that are gruesome 'cause I determine the deuce
I'm coming with damage at the weakened ones who kicked them
Lyrics so simple, you could literally predict them
Try to go a little bit fast, with the jam, keep it with the band
With the Vans, keepin' it up like they're making it even harder to handle
So do not try to hang with the gang, what you can do is hang with the senseless
I am relentless, sent to the click or two
Better sit up 'cause soul intent gonna like it to what most do
Already towards the store because you've heard similar sounds before
But once you learn again, I'm livin up to rapper
    It's not an easy chore
But as soon as I grab the mic, I strike and write
And he'll react to them again, M&M is talkin' about the Nikes
To gain speed, guess I'll lead the new breed
I speed the stampede, to make a man bleed
I'm reckless, unaffected, when I wreak this
    Formed this, but that enormous
When I strike I feel angry, total anguish
But I fake where you panic, then I vanish, from his sight
'Cause ignorance is blind, knowledge is to realize
Give it chance to stick into your skull and your real eyes
The richer will never see me coming, and that's a bet
Next time you're getting stupid trying to be prepared
    [Verse 2: Eminem]
My dream's alive, it gave me something to strive for
The fact that I drive good made me wanna drive more
Reach the flip side I put aside the mom side
Hide the child side, I'm walking the wild side
I stand in the jungle, the jungle with both hands
I swing on vines, in the trees flyin', Tarzan
A lot of people say I just up and disappeared
'Cause that the fact that I say that somebody wish they were here
But if I'm making a point, I make sure that it's sounding good
I don't just put words together that sound good
Now I taught better which word I say I'll get displeased
I turn it so frickin' low in a Swiss cheese
Leaving not a single, footprint in the sand
It's amazing how fast the boy grew to become a man
And I said I know man, something as a donkey
Just said like a honkey? Huh-uh, no
Do I need to prove this? Most likely, yes
So let's just see how truly far I can go
    [Break: Eminem]
    One, two, three
    [Verse 3: Eminem]
Taking it to the limit, once again, it's a single dance
Zoomin' the pen, numb in the hand, with a secret fued against
    Anyone's by myself behind
In a minute, I'm going a million miles, and give it a punch line
Making the mess of everybody, and leaving them in the mist, someone leaves a diss
I'mma be knocking out so fast, that he be showing a clench
So be thinking, ready to give it a shot
You better be set to give it every single ounce of energy that you got
And now your holdin' a mic, you better keep on punching rhymes
Don't hold the mic anymore, your just wastin' precious time
Taking the weak back, giving a wack beat
Try to damage and slam this you ignoramus
Get in the backseat, and shut your damn mouth
Beat going, juggle the beat gone, I cast you out

@Butteh Fingiz hey man. always wanted to know, what was the relationship between bassmint productions and the bass brothers? the whole bass thing is kinda confusing lol. was there a bassmint/bass bros crossover period or did those guys "find" marshall after the bassmint/soul intent days?
thank you for sharing legit history

    • @d33j4ybf
      @d33j4ybf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

The confusion over the Bass Bros. thing is for 2 reasons. 1.) When Em was starting to become noticed/famous, he and Mark Bass deliberately came up with a history that wasn't the real one, claiming Mark had discovered him when he was like 15 or some shit like that, and that he was a few years younger than he actually was when he was starting to gain notice in '97/'98. 2.) Someone put a false history on Wikipedia, giving the Bass Bros. credit for forming Bassmint Productions. It's complete fabrication and horseshit that they had even an iota to do with the forming of Bassmint, Soul Intent or even New Jacks. We were Bassmint for a year when we met Mark Bass in late 1990, and that was because he heard a song of ours, 'Crackers 'N Cheese,' on 96.3 WHYT on Lisa Lisa's Open Mic Night. Why they decided to go with a made up history is beyond me, but it's the reason I'm having to do clean up now. Hell, as recently as a few years ago, in Rolling Stone, Mark Bass did an interview claiming he and Em met in '95 or '96, so he's still spreading a nonsensical history that even people who are confused on the history, with even what's out there, would know that it's bullshit that they met that late.

    • @xbtro8047
      @xbtro8047 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@d33j4ybf thank you for the detailed reply. the odd coincidence with "bass"mint and "bass"brothers was confusing. how much work did you do with them after you guys first met? mark tells the story of hearing em then straight to infinite but what happened in the 5 years between? were you in their studio making songs and shopping for deals with them?

    • @d33j4ybf
      @d33j4ybf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@xbtro8047...No, it was because their studio, at the time we met them, which was out of Mark's house, was named Bassment Sounds. We recorded a good handful of tracks there in '91, one with a dude he knew, Joe Vitale, at his studio and the 'F#@!in' Backstabber/Biterphobia' tape at the one at 8 Mile & Woodward, the same studio 'Infinite' was recorded at. We never shopped deals with them, but when we first met Mark, he said he worked for Electra records, but that wasn't exactly true. He'd gotten a duo from here, Tycie & Woody, signed to Electra and thought he might be able to get us signed, as well, but nothing ever became of that.

The main purpose of doing this is to clear up all the misinformation on the early history and material. I threw in a few other tracks for good measure and to give people a better idea of the sound of the early catalogue, as well. I didn't do the beats on this material. While I do production and have for almost 3 decades, my twin brother, Manix, was the producer for most of the Bassmint Productions tracks and produced all of the Soul Intent tracks. I did a few of them for the Bassmint stuff and provided samples and ideas for some of those, none of which are uploaded here, but that was it. I was mostly the deejay in Bassmint and Soul Intent and did all the scratches on all the tracks that have them.
