There's some similarities, but not a lot. He wasn't listening to Godfather Don, I can tell you that, but a good number of emcees had somewhat like styles and a higher register in their voices around this era of Hip-Hop .

He didn't have a ton of emcees who influenced him, he was always very particular and whoever they were, he'd usually focus on one at a time. Around this time, it was Treach. He wasn't ever an Ultramagnetic/Kool Keith fan, unfortunately.
