Because they totally butchered continuity and established character arcs so they could push the political agenda that NBC was forcing on everyone. It’s embarrassing that the writers scrapped the original plans and ideas for season 8 in favor of a woke/sjw script, just because the network told them to. Season 7 wasn’t great, but at least it still had consistent characters. Season 8 is just an abomination with maybe one of two good episodes
@@kinnexion i agree that they definitely changed things to reflect the political and social atmosphere but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The situation was so big, so widespread and so emotionally triggering that if a show set around the NYPD never addressed that and just went on their usual shenanigans, it would be in very bad taste. I for one really liked how they incorporated the reality of the world we live in without being too preachy. Also Rosa disliking PIs and becoming one eventually is not a continuity error because they clearly explained her reasons behind becoming one. People change, their goals and ambitions change too. I don't think season 8 is the best but it still delivered one of the most satisfying and wholesome sitcom endings of all time.
@@anandiganguly3086 “they explained her reasons for becoming one” yeah with literally no previous setup or backstory behind it, completely shifting the character and her entire characterization. Rosa literally established herself as a character that, for the most part, didn’t care about doing things by the book and even suggested police brutality every once in a while. Also, I’m not saying the show shouldn’t have addressed the political issues happening in the US, however, completely scrapping 4 scripts to write a script about George Floyd is just downright ridiculous, and then, basically focusing the entire season around it and the narrative that “cops are bad” was abysmal and completely through away 7 previous seasons of character development and build up. Previous seasons have addressed political issues before. But they’ve oftentimes been just one or two episodes, not an entire season. It was overkill and it got boring really fast
@@kinnexion it takes one incident to shake up someone's belief system. The George Floyd incident impacted Rosa personally because she herself is a poc and so is her family, it is not hard to understand why seeing the very institution you're a part of commit such acts of violence against your community would permanently repulse her from wanting to continue being a cop. They never said Cops inherently are bad, they explored both schools of thoughts-people who believe they can bring about positive change within the system by working in it like Jake and Amy, and people who do not have faith in the system anymore and resort to external measures.
@@anandiganguly3086 contrarily, I think this should have been reflected in her character the entire time. Maybe this is just because she is non-black, but in my experience, most POC know George Floyd wasn't the conception of police brutality or the systemic issues this country faces. while the show has addressed it before, the final season ultimately shows it's weakness when it comes to this topic. Rosa has quite literally been used to make police brutality jokes. And while I found it humourous, bc it's a literal sitcom, picking apart the show and picking which parts actually have meaning doesn't work. One of my favorites is when Holt and Kevin are going to the opera and Holt decides to stay at the precinct with Jake. “Hello Kevin, I am unable to join you at the opera tonight. The tickets are under my name: H-O-L-“
My favourite one is Wuntch: Hello Raymond, How do you like my new office? 20th floor. Holt: Yes, I never thought I'd see you this high without a broom under you.
@@Cameron-ip3th 😂yes that episode was full of wuntch insults. I like this one too. Rosa: All you have to do is say a few nice comments during the memorial. Holt: As God said, when Wuntch tried to sneak past the gates into heaven, It ain't happening honey.
A lot of these I've actually forgotten lol. I've watched every episode at least 3-4 times but "are my parents getting divorced" really caught me off-guard!
I always have the show playing, in the background, white noise to sleep, when I want something to watch, just. 24/7. I will join you in reciting the entire show from memory

The most underrated moments that I like the most are the scenes in S3E14 and S5E19. The set up in S3E14 has a payoff in S5E19 which really explains a lot about Amy as a character and most importantly, a wife of Jake and how she is so great for him.
@@paulbrady1149 S3E14 - Jake witnessed his dad banging a mistress in a car as a kid. He was so traumatized that he cannot have sex in a car at all. He told Amy that they never did it and will never do it. S5E19 - The bachelorette party played “Never have I ever” and Amy NEVER have sex in a back of a car. Rosa and Gina both thought that it’s because Amy is so boring but Amy’s unspoken reasons are that Jake is unable to do it with her so she didn’t do it to not trigger him, plus she is claustrophobic.
I have not watched this yet, but as a person that has watched B99 an estimated 25+ times I promise I will subscribe if I do not remember any of these HAHAHAH
The funny thing is I remember all these scenes even though I am still watching the show for the first time. It's most probably because I chose to watch this show rather than studying for my exams.
