I live in berryville. I know some days are probably more tasking than others,but it must be a lot of fun to go and visit all of these places. Thanks again for taking us along with for the ride

I too like a motel I can park my hawg right in front of the door. Gotta haul that road gear in. I've spent my years of wandering like you but no filming. In these days of modern times I've ate a lot of Subway sandwiches. Many a small town has one, there is consistency in the product. But nothing beats a small café for breakfast. In my 50 plus years of riding I have roamed thru Nebraska, Kansas, Wyoming, eastern Utah, New Mexico, Northern Arizona and of course Colorado. Always the back roads like you and I always check out the cemetery's looking for veterans. Been chased by hail, rain, snowed on and of course tornados. I guess that's why I like your videos so much.
I usually don’t spend much time thinking about what to eat when I’m traveling. Subway has always been an option haha. I’ve grown to really enjoy cemeteries too!
Those backroads really give me a good look and understanding of an area. Plus add in some wonderful surprises and interesting people. Far more fun than the "Super Slab".

You unwittingly gave us an important lesson when getting a rental car. Yes, check for dings and stuff on the body of the car so you don't get dinged yourself but also check the tires! I don't know how many people actually do that before they drive off, just assume the tires are in good shape.
Yeah I never think of anything like that. Actually on my recent trip on US 50 I had a tire with a slow leak. I let them know on the first day and got $200 back on my rental!

My husband and I used to always stay at bed and breakfast facilities where you are sharing the home with others. Fun eating breakfast with strangers and finding out about their travels. Worse experience is when the wife came to breakfast in her underwear. What was she thinking??? My husband enjoyed it though 😂😂

Hi John, in my opinion this was one of the best of your video's. I really enjoyed the view of what goes into your 'normal' video's and the problems you can have along the way. So athletics is your thing, I dabbled a little in my late teens/early 20's and threw discus quite a bit but I never had my heart in it as I was a Rugby union player at heart and played for several teams including my County along the way, but that was decades ago... as you can tell I fit your demographic well lol. I am always fascinated by the number of wooden buildings you come across on your way, in England wooden constructions are usually only farm or garden sheds (after the Great fire of London in 1666 the king outlawed wooden buildings in London and it probably rubbed off on the rest of the country) our buildings are usually brick or stone. Thank you for this informative and friendly video and I look forward to your next.
I really appreciate the nice comment! Fascinating how different culture end up buildings things in different ways. With the Midwest and west I think many of these towns were built quickly with whatever was available and fire was an issue often in the rural areas. Lots of stories of towns being burned to the ground! Thanks again for watching!
Nice to hear from "across the pond" and have you tell us about some of your history over there. It is always fun to learn of the background from anywhere. There have been several small towns here in the central part of the USA that came to an abrupt end due to a fire destroying much of the town. Some of our rural areas just had nothing other than wood to build with. It was in abundance and easy to work with. They would round up enough stones for foundations. Walking old roads or exploring vacant areas I have found the stone foundations of an old farmstead or little burger that use to be. Always makes me wonder about what was there, and what happened.

It began in Thomas Farriners bakery on Pudding lane and consumed 13500 houses, 87 parish churches, 44 company halls, The Royal Exchange, Custom House, St Pauls Cathedral, Bridewell Palace and three city gates! 200,000 people were displaced and it was estimated at the time to have done 9 to 10 million pounds in damage (some 2 Billion pounds in today's terms). This followed a plague in London in 1665 which killed 7000 people. All in all it affected the whole nation and prompted the young architect Sir Christopher Wren to rebuild the St Pauls Cathedral and other great buildings in London.

I know you kept the receipts and presented them to the car rental company. I'm hoping they reimbursed you or some measure of compensation. I know all this was taxing but I loved getting a glimpse into your filming. You really have to do a lot of traveling to get your videos. I never really thought about wearing the same shirt for continuity, clever. 👍Yes, I would say if possible get footage of the interesting things/places you find in your travels and keep the footage until you can go back or find out more. I would be easier sidetracked as well. I really enjoyed the video dear, thanks for the hard work it took to get it together and out. You find some cool places and events along the way. Aww thank you very much! The car company didn’t help me out on this occasion unfortunately but I did turn it into my insurance. I’ve had a lot of trips where interesting things have happened but I never filmed them so this time I tried. It made for a lot of film to go back through but it was still fun. Maybe I’ll do there every once in a while 😊
Good video. I think we all wondered how this was done and now we know. Your strongest point is when you walk through a town and tell the history, where it is now, how it got to be now, you are very good at that, you really are. The drone thinger you use helps a lot as well. I enjoy your videos, I really do. Be good, be safe !!

This video explained a lot about how you do this. I had hoped to do road trips like this in the same area but am not yet in the position to do so. Your videos let me see a lot of the areas I had planned to visit - which makes it fun to watch your adventures, and not feel so disappointed it’s not me on the road. I did just finish a fantastic trip from San Diego to north of Couer D’Alene and back in 6 days. I wish I would have recorded it, darn! Keep exploring, I m really enjoying it.

I really enjoyed this video, seeing how you do your planning and the mechanics of portraying each place you visit. Of course, being an Arkansawyer from birth, I especially enjoyed this round of videos. One unincorporated not quite ghost town you might enjoy is Snowball, Arkansas, near Marshall. The Masonic Hall and Baptist Church are still active there, and there are eight or nine residents, but there are some really cool old abandoned buildings. Washington Post was the first significant European settlement in Arkansas, thus its historical importance,. I am one of your early morning viewers, and I thank you for the time and effort you put into making the videos.

Sorry to be so late coming to the party, but it has been a different type of day. It was very interesting to see how you set up and manage your excursions. I often wondered about doing what you do, but I definitely am not disaplined enough to make it work as well as you do. I get sidetracked when I find unexpected "treasures", and have the chance at good visits with the locals as well as other travelers/explorers as myself. I have always headed out on my explorations with no expectations of maintaining anything that resembled a schedule. Thise roads through the trees and up and down the hills would be such a wonderful trip on my motorcycle. Maybe someday! Thanks again for another wonderful bideo!

@@TravelwithaWiseguy I, by far, feel you are the better one handling the job that you are doing than I would be. I waste enough time with the locals and enjoying stops at out of the way places. One good example is the Center of the Continental United States Park that is a mile north and a mile west of Lebanon, Kansas. I stop there a time or two each summer, and remain there for an hour or better each time. If there are people there, they are either travelers or locals, both of which I converse with too easily. And if no one is there, I bask in the serenity of the open country. I just enjoy not having to light a fire under the bike when I am out exploring. Thanks for your reply, and wonderful videos!
I was actually surprised that Pyatt Arkansas didn't make the list, but then I checked the census and it's got over 100 people. I remember going there with my parents, grandparents, and others years ago when I was a kid. It's a small community that's home to the Patton family cemetery outside of town.

Haha! I did visit the Cousin Eddie house and there were cars there but no one came out to talk to me. I just took videos from the road with no disruption. I saw Adam’s video and I was there maybe one week prior haha! I’ll be making that video in about 2 weeks 😊

Thank you very much! FYI I use a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone and it has a built in stabilizer. Same with my iPhone. Maybe sometime I’ll do a video on the equipment although I’m pretty simple 😊

THE DELIVERY COMPANY I DROVE FOR HAS AN CONTRACT WITH ENTERPRISE USING ONE WAY RENTALS EXCLUSIVELY! AS WE HAD THESE CARS ON A DAILY BASIS RATHER THAN MILEAGE, IT CREATED OPPORTUNITIES FOR MANY INTERESTING TRIPS! ANOTHER OPTION WAS USING YOUR OWN VEHICLE OR COMPANY VEHICLE AS A “TOW BEHIND”! AGAIN , THESE ALSO WORK WELL FOR EXPLORATION!
I’m thankful there are companies that still do the one-way rentals at a reasonable price! I love to drive one way and fly back like I just did on my US 50 trip. Provides more freedom!
I really like your Traveling and all the towns im from Missouri i could tell you of some very cool places and towns in Missouri you might want to check out . I enjoy your stuff keep on doing it.
@@TravelwithaWiseguy thanks for your reply there is a a couple towns you may find interesting in Missouri one is called Peaceful Village its inside anothrr town of Highridge Missouri it has a church called all gods chilldren and has i believe one house and like population of 3 and its surrounded by the city limits of Highridge another is Labadie Missouri thats near Gray Summit Missouri and one more is a town called Paris Missouri in the Northeast Missouri nrar Marktwain lake .
There is so much I found traveling through Arkansas, there was a town called Nimrod near, Nimrod Lake. Not far from there going to a friends home near Alabam,AR. was A road called Upper Jethro road and a mile farther was, lower Jethro rload.
Couldn't "figure out what's going on".Makes perfect sense as its a politicians former home. LOL Great video, even though I had to watch it in 4 segments. TFS
Next time you’re in Shell Knob, grab breakfast at Root Cellar. Their gravy alone, is worth the drive! 😍That place is a hidden gem. The people that own it are awesome! I live in AR (not far drive from Ozan or McNab) but have family in Shell Knob. If you are up that way again, there are some really cool awesome small towns if you leave Shell Knob & go out through Viola, it hits Arkansas pretty quick & you’ll find Berryville which is a cool little town if you go to the old downtown square. There are some really neat little old timey towns beyond that if you follow US21. The views are breathtaking! If you want a good burger place if you come back down through Old Washington & Hope, AR try Tailgaters!
I don't know how much you know about them since the Wichita Wranglers were probably gone before you got to Wichita but Springdale is home to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, which are the former Wichita Wranglers in the Texas League. That's the baseball team I grew up watching and even worked for for a summer at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Love your content . I travel very similar. I rarely make reservations, because I never know how far I want to drive in a day. For the most part it has worked out. I figure I can always keep driving if I find Hotels filled up, which has actually never happened.. I went to Italy with no hotel reservations and it worked out great and spent a week in Florence and a week in Rome and both hotels were amazing and I got great deals. There is so much to see in the United States however, if people would just take the time. My overseas travel is done now . I love driving and rarely take an airplane any longer. There are so many places you wouldn’t see if you were not driving …. at least that’s how I feel.

Do you watch your own videos? I mean I'm sure you watch to edit, make sure everything is correct, but do you actually enjoy watching your own videos? I would find it difficult I think watching myself.
I rarely watch it after I upload it. I usually watch it one time through after I’m done editing. I send it to a couple friends to watch it before I publish in case I have any glaring mistakes.

@@randyt3542 Wikipedia is one place that is very good to get decade by decade for towns, but to get the official counts for the 10 smallest towns I go to the US Census stats on each state's governmental website. Sometimes it's hard to find so I email the state asking for the official numbers.
A little too slow in the beginning of the video for me. I'm just giving you some feedback. I live in Arkansas and have lived near some small towns and communities so I was interested in seeing which towns you picked out to see but I don't have the patience.
The Arkansas post was Arkansas first capital until they moved it to little Rock P.S I'm from Banks Arkansas where outside city limits got more people than the city limits but the small town before you get to tinsman Arkansas
When you was leaving warren arkansas on highway 4/278 going tinsman arkansas you was in banks when you turn on 275 going the back way to tinsman but banks arkansas population was 125 but its way less now but I stay outside city limits we is knew for the BUCK FEVER every year and the pink tomato festival come from bradley county grows alot of tomatoes every year in banks hermitage johnsville jersey they take the tomatoes to warren arkansas to the market but in hermitage arkansas have a big factory there
Did the Clinton house have a cocaine window? I have had more weird experiences in Arkansas than anywhere else. From the unwelcoming town boss to the dripping faucet/incomplete curtain, I'm like, "yep." Drove through the KKK town and they had a huge billboard on a rockface there. Wow! Another time driving on I-40, I felt like I was in that Spielberg movie "Duel." Rough character in a flatbed semi wouldn't let me pass, and ran me over to the left shoulder where I had to slam on the brakes. We stayed in a motel chain there where there was a huge spider, so every time we saw one of those motels, we called it the Arachnomotel.
I almost always drive. Rarely fly. My car is getting pretty old and I worry about it making it through a rough trip like this one. It wouldn’t be able to go on some on these backroads.
I’m not sure someone would enjoy traveling like I do haha. I constantly stop and take videos of the most obscure things 😂 I’m very appreciative of the demographic and I’ll be joining it soon 😊

Aww thank you very much! The car company didn’t help me out on this occasion unfortunately but I did turn it into my insurance. I’ve had a lot of trips where interesting things have happened but I never filmed them so this time I tried. It made for a lot of film to go back through but it was still fun. Good video. I think we all wondered how this was done and now we know. Your strongest point is when you walk through a town and tell the history, where it is now, how it got to be now, you are very good at that, you really are. This video explained a lot about how you do this. I had hoped to do road trips like this in the same area but am not yet in the position to do so. Your videos let me see a lot of the areas I had planned to visit - which makes it fun to watch your adventures, and not feel so disappointed it’s not me on the road. I did just finish a fantastic trip from San Diego to north of Couer D’Alene and back in 6 days. I wish I would have recorded it, darn! Keep exploring, I m really enjoying it.

I really enjoyed this video, seeing how you do your planning and the mechanics of portraying each place you visit. Of course, being an Arkansawyer from birth, I especially enjoyed this round of videos. One unincorporated not quite ghost town you might enjoy is Snowball, Arkansas, near Marshall. The Masonic Hall and Baptist Church are still active there, and there are eight or nine residents, but there are some really cool old abandoned buildings. Washington Post was the first significant European settlement in Arkansas, thus its historical importance,. I am one of your early morning viewers, and I thank you for the time and effort you put into making the videos.

Sorry to be so late coming to the party, but it has been a different type of day.
It was very interesting to see how you set up and manage your excursions. I often wondered about doing what you do, but I definitely am not disaplined enough to make it work as well as you do. I get sidetracked when I find unexpected "treasures", and have the chance at good visits with the locals as well as other travelers/explorers as myself. I have always headed out on my explorations with no expectations of maintaining anything that resembled a schedule.
Thise roads through the trees and up and down the hills would be such a wonderful trip on my motorcycle. Maybe someday!

@@TravelwithaWiseguy I, by far, feel you are the better one handling the job that you are doing than I would be. I waste enough time with the locals and enjoying stops at out of the way places. One good example is the Center of the Continental United States Park that is a mile north and a mile west of Lebanon, Kansas. I stop there a time or two each summer, and remain there for an hour or better each time. If there are people there, they are either travelers or locals, both of which I converse with too easily. And if no one is there, I bask in the serenity of the open country. I just enjoy not having to light a fire under the bike when I am out exploring.

I was actually surprised that Pyatt Arkansas didn't make the list, but then I checked the census and it's got over 100 people. I remember going there with my parents, grandparents, and others years ago when I was a kid. It's a small community that's home to the Patton family cemetery outside of town.
I moved to Arkansas. Love it but still have culture shock after luvibg on military bases overseas.

Haha! I did visit the Cousin Eddie house and there were cars there but no one came out to talk to me. I just took videos from the road with no disruption. I saw Adam’s video and I was there maybe one week prior haha! I’ll be making that video in about 2 weeks 😊

Okay, I have a question.....and maybe you have already made a video about it.....but I would be interested in seeing something that would show us the video equipment you use. What drone do you use? Do you use a stabilizer when you make the videos. Thans again for making your videos.
Thank you very much! FYI I use a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone and it has a built in stabilizer. Same with my iPhone. Maybe sometime I’ll do a video on the equipment although I’m pretty simple 😊

AS WE HAD THESE CARS ON A DAILY BASIS RATHER THAN MILEAGE, IT CREATED OPPORTUNITIES FOR MANY INTERESTING TRIPS!
ANOTHER OPTION WAS USING YOUR OWN VEHICLE OR COMPANY VEHICLE AS A “TOW BEHIND”!
AGAIN , THESE ALSO WORK WELL FOR EXPLORATION!
I’m thankful there are companies that still do the one-way rentals at a reasonable price! I love to drive one way and fly back like I just did on my US 50 trip. Provides more freedom!

@@TravelwithaWiseguy thanks for your reply there is a a couple towns you may find interesting in Missouri one is called Peaceful Village its inside anothrr town of Highridge Missouri it has a church called all gods chilldren and has i believe one house and like population of 3 and its surrounded by the city limits of Highridge another is Labadie Missouri thats near Gray Summit Missouri and one more is a town called Paris Missouri in the Northeast Missouri nrar Marktwain lake .

There is so much I found traveling through Arkansas, there was a town called Nimrod near, Nimrod Lake.
Not far from there going to a friends home near Alabam,AR. was A road called Upper Jethro road and a mile farther was, lower Jethro rload.
Couldn't "figure out what's going on".Makes perfect sense as its a politicians former home. LOL

Next time you’re in Shell Knob, grab breakfast at Root Cellar. Their gravy alone, is worth the drive! 😍That place is a hidden gem. The people that own it are awesome! I live in AR (not far drive from Ozan or McNab) but have family in Shell Knob. If you are up that way again, there are some really cool awesome small towns if you leave Shell Knob & go out through Viola, it hits Arkansas pretty quick & you’ll find Berryville which is a cool little town if you go to the old downtown square. There are some really neat little old timey towns beyond that if you follow US21. The views are breathtaking! If you want a good burger place if you come back down through Old Washington & Hope, AR try Tailgaters!

I don't know how much you know about them since the Wichita Wranglers were probably gone before you got to Wichita but Springdale is home to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, which are the former Wichita Wranglers in the Texas League. That's the baseball team I grew up watching and even worked for for a summer at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
I’ve definitely heard a lot about them. And the Wichita Aeros were before the Wranglers too. They were a Reds affiliate (I’m from Cincinnati).

Love your content . I travel very similar. I rarely make reservations, because I never know how far I want to drive in a day. For the most part it has worked out. I figure I can always keep driving if I find Hotels filled up, which has actually never happened.. I went to Italy with no hotel reservations and it worked out great and spent a week in Florence and a week in Rome and both hotels were amazing and I got great deals.
There is so much to see in the United States however, if people would just take the time. My overseas travel is done now . I love driving and rarely take an airplane any longer. There are so many places you wouldn’t see if you were not driving …. at least that’s how I feel.

Do you watch your own videos? I mean I'm sure you watch to edit, make sure everything is correct, but do you actually enjoy watching your own videos? I would find it difficult I think watching myself.
I rarely watch it after I upload it. I usually watch it one time through after I’m done editing. I send it to a couple friends to watch it before I publish in case I have any glaring mistakes.

@@randyt3542 Wikipedia is one place that is very good to get decade by decade for towns, but to get the official counts for the 10 smallest towns I go to the US Census stats on each state's governmental website. Sometimes it's hard to find so I email the state asking for the official numbers.

Supposedly “Shell Knob” is called lil Wichita with all the Wichita tourists that stay there.

A little too slow in the beginning of the video for me. I'm just giving you some feedback. I live in Arkansas and have lived near some small towns and communities so I was interested in seeing which towns you picked out to see but I don't have the patience.

When you was leaving warren arkansas on highway 4/278 going tinsman arkansas you was in banks when you turn on 275 going the back way to tinsman but banks arkansas population was 125 but its way less now but I stay outside city limits we is knew for the BUCK FEVER every year and the pink tomato festival come from bradley county grows alot of tomatoes every year in banks hermitage johnsville jersey they take the tomatoes to warren arkansas to the market but in hermitage arkansas have a big factory there

Did the Clinton house have a cocaine window? I have had more weird experiences in Arkansas than anywhere else. From the unwelcoming town boss to the dripping faucet/incomplete curtain, I'm like, "yep." Drove through the KKK town and they had a huge billboard on a rockface there. Wow! Another time driving on I-40, I felt like I was in that Spielberg movie "Duel." Rough character in a flatbed semi wouldn't let me pass, and ran me over to the left shoulder where I had to slam on the brakes. We stayed in a motel chain there where there was a huge spider, so every time we saw one of those motels, we called it the Arachnomotel.

Why rent cars if you're driving from home? I had the impression you were flying into places.
I almost always drive. Rarely fly. My car is getting pretty old and I worry about it making it through a rough trip like this one. It wouldn’t be able to go on some on these backroads.
