They use a green coloured board so that it is extremely easy to edit out. They are actually riding the wave on a actual board but it is green.

If you say it has been green screened out you aren't right. The camera/editing program can not see under the board so therefore the whole beach would be CGI. It is probably a Plexiglas surfboard as you cant see that material underwater. If it was CGI the surfers would have to be trained professionals that were rigged up in a studio

I've looked it up, it's made from hydrophobic nano particles and a new plexiglass epoxy material, if heated up to a certain temperature it will become clear like in this video but remain stiff, only thing is it doesn't last very long. Only a few hours, then you need to heat up the plastic again because it becomes yellow ish. Can't remember the name of the company but you can find it on google.

Lol. That beats all the shit I see in the movies. I kinda got that it was CGI from the reflections on the waves and the slight blurriness around the area of the board, but this stuff is insane.
