Most notable in the music though.. and the clothing I guess... so many were upset at how many light skinned people were in sumeru compared to darker skinned people that you would find in the middle east. While I agree on some points, expecting the dendro archon to be darker skinned when she was literally imprisoned in a room for 500yrs with minimal, if any, sunlight...its ridiculous... there are a number of characters that could have a darker skin tone though (Dehya for example.. and a not-yet-released, golden-geo-wielding-beauty....)
@@SnowxXxAngelthe thing is thats not how melanin works….if you were a dark skinnned person and trapped for hundreds of years, you wouldnt lose all the pigments in your skin! I do agree characters like dehya, candace, cyno, etc (as well as…pretty much the entire natlan cast) should have had more melanin/diversity though!
@@Juyeobi fyi. Indian God inspiration is said to have whitish without blemish color skin and don't use something to cover their feet. It is described as very different from regular Indian folks. At some point, the game takes that very well.
I always love when new people got into genshin music rabbit hole. Welcome! So in every live symphony, they will show you 2 pieces: first is the nation's song, and the second is the battle song. You may notice a leitmotif in every battle song. Finding them feels like finding an easter egg. Hope you enjoy your journey!
Swirls of Shamshir is more of friendly battle between Indian Instruments and Middle Eastern instruments. You can actually see them alternating between the two groups battling it out in a medley and it is beautiful to see, especially as an Indian. Love what they did to bring together two cultures that had already influenced each other hundreds of years ago. I am so proud of my Indian heritage and that someone found so much value in it, when everyone is chasing the crazy western trends.
What I really LOVE is that you have the two musical styles kind of battling each other, out of sync with each other, which gives the music a chaotic feeling. But then there are parts where the two styles sync up, and it's soooo satisfying.
There's actually TWO more official Sumeru Orchestra videos Genshin released (probably bcuz so many players absolutely loved the soundtrack for that region so much). Both are called "Sumeru OST 'Forest of Jnana and Vidya'" One is the "Preview MV" and the other is the "Promotional MV". They each have more songs from the Sumeru region, including the much beloved "Port Ormos Theme" (the music that plays during the day in the Port Ormos area of Sumeru) that plays in the "Preview MV". I highly recommend both. I actually almost forgot, there's a video (Abyss Breakdown has a shorter one about it), that the composer explains the actual MATH behind Sumeru music, and how it follows The Golden Ratio with the cyclical nature of the score.
Isn't it amazing that at this day and age, because of a game, because of its music pieces that we from all around the world can get together and have a little cultural exchange. Just like how bro introduced us a little more to his tribe, we get so many more chances to learn from each other's culture that we wouldn't have otherwise. Many of us don't really get the luxury of meeting new friends from other countries, but because of things like Genshin's music here we are. ❤
Genshin leading me to learn a cultural tidbit I had no idea was a thing to that extent through a dudes reaction on TH-cam just because of the sheer amount of cultural variety in it's music. This is the definition of priceless in my opinion.
20:48 That's "polymeter". When two or more musical patterns of different lengths are continuously played together and coincide on strong beats on certain measures. It gives an "offset" feeling, creating tension. Here is a rough visual representation of what is happening: Pattern 1 length : | - - - - | Pattern 2 length : | - - - - - - | When played together continuously : | - - - - | - - - - | - - - - | - - - - | | - - - - - - | - - - - - | - - - - - - | This composer, Yu-Peng Chen, employs this element in quite a few of his music. You'll hear polymeters again to a lesser extent in the Inazuma symphony, also composed by the same composer.
Thank you for the reaction! Just going to dump a little background and lore here. I've been a day 1 Genshin player, my background is in ethnomusicology and my wife is a historian so I can at least back up some facts here. 😊 Each region is inspired geologically, culturally and musically by specific regions and historical eras in our world. I'll list them by what we know so far. Mondstadt is heavily inspired by Germany and its surrounding nations, with a dash of Arthurian legend mixed in. Its historical basis escapes me to this day, but tends to be more general Western European fantasy, or possibly Holy Roman Empire. It's in game theme is "freedom" and is the nation of wind. Musically, its symphonic and orchestral, with an understandably big focus on wind instruments commonly found in Western orchestras. Liyue is based on China, which is where the game is developed. Historically, its based in the Ming Dynasty, one of the most prosperous eras in China's history. The in game theme is "contracts" and is the nation of geo/rock. Traditional instruments like the erhu and pipa feature heavily in many of the musical pieces. Inazuma is based on Japan, specifically the late Edo period into the Meiji Restoration part of Modern Japan. There is also an ancient civilization buried deep in the sea called Enkanomiya which is based on Atlantis and characters from here have a Japanese name and Greek name simultaneously. The region theme is "eternity" and is the nation of lightning and thunder. You'll see in the Inazuma Live Symphony Performance a lot of traditional Japanese instruments like the shakuhachi flute, koto, biwa, shamisen and taiko drums. Sumeru is a big nation that is based on a large stretch of land and many countries, specifically North Africa through the Middle East and South Asia. It is based more on its historical influence the Persian Empire, which at its height stretched from Egypt through its origin in modern day Iran to north India. It's theme is "wisdom" and is the nation of the earth and nature. Reflecting the many cultures present within Sumeru, you'll find a mixture of Persian, Arabic and Indian instruments. One battle theme, Gilded Runner, also incorporates its musical structure with the Fibonacci Sequence. Instruments seen here: 3:30 this is a bassoon, which is a common Western instrument found in many symphonies. 6:04 this is the mandolin, which is a grandson of the Arabic super stringed instrument the oud which is heard at 7:12 6:40 caxixi, a north african rattle drum 7:37 the riqq, also known as the tambourine 7:40 the infamous sitar from India. I might be mistaken, but it is also a possible descendant of the oud. 8:16 the large circle drum could be a tar drum but I'm not too sure. The hand drum on the second row is a doumbek or darbuka and it looks like the lady next to him might be playing the Indian tabla, though it is unclear. 8:41 this is the santur, or hammered dulcimer. Fun fact, this is the originator of the piano! A piano is a larger, more mechanized hammered dulcimer. 9:06 this is the duduk flute from Armenia. Earlier at 7:30 was the ney flute, from Egypt Fontaine is a progressive region based on Western Mediterranean nations, mostly France and Italy. I believe historically its based on the Industrial Revolution era France. It also has an ancient civilization that is heavily based on the ancient Roman Empire. It's theme is "justice" and is the nation of water. While it shares many instruments with Mondstadt, they are scored very differently. Accordian, the harpsicord, castanets and lute are present. The two glass instruments featured in the live symphony were the glass harp (the wine glasses) and glass harmonica, and both require water to play. Fontaine also features a heavy amount of opera in its soundscape. Since Natlan is a new nation and yet to be released, not much is known. What we do know is that the nation is made up of 6 differing tribes and it looks to be that each tribe is based on different regions. I can tell that some tribal regions that inspired Natlan include African, Pacific Islander, Caribbean and South/Central American indigenous groups. Not much is known on the historical influence yet. It is the nation of fire and its theme seems to be "war." African instruments from the Live Symphony include: the dondo or talking drum, Yoruba, West Africa the mbira, Shona, Zimbabwe the kora, Mandinka/jali, West Africa South American instruments from the Live Symphony include: the ocarina the quena flute, Andes, Peru the zampoña or siku, a Peruvian panflute Caribbean instruments from the Live Symphony: steel drum, Trinidad and Tobago Snezhnaya is not yet released and won't be for another year or so, but we can glean a little bit from characters that are released in game. What we do know it is based on Eastern European countries, specifically Russia and the Baltic states. A big organization from here also are tied to the commedia dell'arte stereotypes from Renaissance Italy theater. Nothing yet on the historical period, but we do know the region is very technologically advanced so possibly Industrial Revolution era? It's theme is "love" and is the nation of ice. Songs that we've heard on characters from this region have some Western instruments in common from Fontaine and Mondstadt, but tend to heavily feature pipe organ, accordian and latin vocals. I believe I also heard balalaika (a Russian stringed instrument) in one of Tartaglia's songs, but I might be mistaken. Khaen'riah is also unreleased, and in game we are slowly learning about this lost civilization. What we do know is it might be influenced by Old German/Old Norse mythos and history based on the story lines and character names. I don't believe this has a theme to my knowledge at least. Thank you if you read my "little" lore dump!
8:16 the lady playing percussion is Nagara(indian)twin drums Tabla are played with hands not stick That lady played two percussion the other one which is more close to her is Naqareh middle east percussion where the one with sticks two large drums Nagara here 17:14 Sitar orgin are very unclear but one of them is its originated from a Persian Setar the other is a similar looking instrument is already exist and was used in india The Veena(ancient string instrument of india)
It is insane how he picks up on things that are deeply ingrained in genshin lore, like it the beginning where he is describing how the first part feels like a god has died between a group of friends of gods.
and then when he said he felt like the music sounded like someone was running in the forest and the music is the fight ost in the avidiya forest (which I usually run from) XD
Sumeru is based on Middle East and South Asia, so you are very correct on getting Indian, Dubai, Egyptian vibe. The region in game is also divided into Forest and Desert , so you are right on that a well,
As far as I know: Natlan, Fontaine, Sumeru live performances for these kinds of video were done by London Symphony Orchestra. The Inazuma live performance was done by Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, instead.
English translation: Yes,you are right. The Genshin Impact works with LSO from the early time of creation of Genshin Impact. In fact, apart from the key city music and battle themes, many of the music pieces for remote areas were also co-created with the London Symphony Orchestra. Their capabilities are commendable.
They do a good chunk of the tracks for the regions. Though there's so much content over time and written/recorded at different times that they have something like 6+ orchestras and recording studios they use. Stuff like Sky Fire recording studio, Budapest Mastering Orchestra (or something close), there's at least 2 Chinese orchestras and recording studios that have been used in Sumeru, Fontain, Rumeria, etc. The recording is also typically done with instrument sections separated. So strings recorded separately, brass, special instruments like the sitar or other solo performing instruments may be recorded alone to get extra focus and precision on the performance and mixing/mastering. Many people probably don't think about it, but these live performances aren't recorded, they're playing for real together and synchronized but the recording is from the mixed and mastered studio sessions. But that's pretty standard music video stuff, it may even have multiple takes for some of the camera angles that are seen back to back (without getting other cameras in the shot)
The instrument you were wondering about around 3:40 is a bassoon. It is an instrument in the woodwind family of the orchestra. Loved your reaction to the Natlan live btw ❤
was very excited to see your reaction to sumeru's music! i would say it was my favourite before the recent natlan symphony edit: would also love to see your reaction to another sumeru song 'port ormos'. a much shorter song but still interesting
Yeah that one is actually performed in another official genshin impact Orchestra promo video. They even filmed it in a different kind of location, so it looked like the performers were among the trees and grass.
Please, someday consider making a video talking about Kikuyu people, the difference between it and Swahili language and how the tribes are distributed in Kenya. I would love to learn more about your country!
Sumeru is inspired from, india, egypt north africa middle east. Im egyptian so i can tell the references in both the music and even nation and parts of its story itself, as well as the names of cities and areas which are in my language too, and sometimes in other language which i’d assume is one of the languages spoken in india. Im also french (well i know french egyptian person is uncommon), and i caught many more references for Fontaine as well, and all of these made me so happy. Hearing characters saying words in my languages kinda mis pronounced but i love it. And that’s why representation matters
it's more like 30% egypt 30% persia 30% india 10%% mix of other cultures. I always get surprised how ppl forget persia as the core sumeru element and sweep it under the 'middle east' rug when more than half the lore of entire sumeru is directly iterated from there..
@@rootedpen2persia / iran is part of the middle east and since every country from the middle east is present in sumeru people just shorten it as the middle east its not rlly sweeping it under the middle east rug when its literally a middle eastern country
Most instruments here (beside orchestra) are middle eastern, Indian and even balkan. Big lute shaped guitar is called oud, small guitar with long thin neck next to him is saz, short small guitars are mandolins, the one with the huge heck is sitar. Long wooden flute is bansuri, short one with mouth piece is duduk. Xylophone looking thing with strings is santur
The flute in this piece used shamshir(desert) is Ney from middle east while the forest one swirls of stream had Bansuri Bansuri is Side blown whereas a Ney is end blown flute
Thanks for explaining your mother tongue and tribe. I love learning about other places and cultures. It’s really special how Genshin has provided a platform for people to share and learn about them
It's really fascinating hearing a musician's perspective on the music and the emotions it evokes. Already, you were able to deduce that something tragic had occurred just from the start. I'm absolutely loving these videos and your amazing insights, thank you!
You need to listen to the other Sumeru battle theme "Jolts in the Forest"! The climax of that OST is such a dopamine boost it's unreal, it makes me feel like flying every time I hear it :D
Inazuma next yay💖 Maybe when u are done with regions u can react to some boss music from genshin, its incredible. Or playing through the game its perfect too
3:38 thats a bassoon. When I was in middle schol band there were only two bassoon players in our band, and one oboe player. By the time I got to high school, I think there was no one playing those instruments.
16:00 Yes, All the live symphony performance videos performed by the same London Symphony orchestra team. 17:30 Spot on conclusion, The second song is always combat music while first one is main theme of the country. So, your conclusion of someone running in forest is absolutely correct
Minor correction, the recent live symphony performances are by the London Symphony orchestra. I see so it's like bahasa indonesia is my national language and javanese is my mother language. Good to know that.. I like the honest reaction which could remind you of something like a movie which i also whatched them so i understand.. 😄 no exaggerating expression.. loved it How about a song title : " Hustle and Bustle of Ormos " This is the most favorite song of sumeru as far as i know (cmiiw).. what do you think about it? Thank you for the video.. look forward to another video of genshin impact.. no need to be full of genshin impact, but thank you for adding genshin impact as your contents.. have a good day..
Hey man, im so glad you decided to stick around and make more Genshin music related video! Aren't they amazing? ☺️ I hope you'll have fun with the game itself once you do play it. Take your time with it too.
Every genshin region live symphony has 2 songs, the first is the main theme and the second is battle music. That's why the second piece of music has a fast tempo There are 7 region in genshin impact with different reference: - Mondstat = Germany - Liyue = China - Inazuma = Japan - Sumeru = mixed India and Middle East - Fontaine = mixed France, England, and Italy - Natlan = mixed Africa and South America (New region to be released in version 5.0 on August 28, 2024) - Snezhnaya (not released yet) = Russia
The first two region live symphony are part of a longer concerts (not with the main them 1st and a battle theme 2nd): - Prelude: "Mondstadt": th-cam.com/video/UIam8zl4af8/w-d-xo.html - Chapter 1: "Liyue": th-cam.com/video/8svl0sQXDLI/w-d-xo.html I think he should do the entire "Refection of Spring" concert for Liyue (China): th-cam.com/video/8svl0sQXDLI/w-d-xo.html For Modstadt, an alternative is to play this clipped (three song) version of the 2021 concert: th-cam.com/video/IKGQGzrGrxk/w-d-xo.html
thanks for reacting and sharing your insight! it's wonderful that people's differences of approaching/ performing music ended up proving how connected we are as human beings
Maybe when you finished the 3 other regions, you can react to more soundtracks in game as well, since those live performances only show 2 songs representing for one region each, so there’s still soundtracks from characters, and more from regions as well so consider listening to more, I really like seeing people react to each Genshin ost for the first time
Since you mentioned that you'll be watching the symphonies in order of the nations from Natlan, Fontaine, Sumeru and then Inazuma. There is one more from the nation of Liyue that you might be interested in called "Producing the Sounds of Liyue | Genshin Impact: Behind The Scenes".
The music for this region reminds me of my childhood. I grew up watching the old desert epics and with a fascination for Middle Eastern and Indian culture and music. Natland being a new favorite cause of my interest in African and South American culture as well. Ginshin Impact is so freakin magical in its ability to bring so many people together just through music alone.
Sumeru has tons of beautiful OST. 😊Im always amazed whenever i see traditional music instruments being used. Yes, each region is inspired in different places. Hope you also check the other symphonies and genshin concert
Each musical performance is the music of the same land in Genshin Impact and one boss fight music, the second song consists of many phases when the boss fight reaches its climax and ends.
There are two more official live symphony performance for Sumeru. You should check that out. Those soundtracks were loved by the players. Especially the Port Ormos OST
Thank you for teaching us a bit about how the languages and tribes work in Kenya. As an American we don't get really get taught anything about the rest of the world so its nice to get these drop in facts about your culture. 47 tribes that's a lot lol but it's cool that (I'm guessing) you all have different dialects that you can use with your home tribe and then a universal language to communicate with the people in other tribes around you.
The section with the odd time signature you were talking about switches from a 4/4 time to a 5/4 time, which is basically five quarter notes in one bar. There are several songs in Sumeru that employ more complex meters like 5/4, 7/4 and more!
In these symphony orchestra videos, they usually play two soundtracks. The first is the region's main theme (played in the capital city or where the player would often return to in that nation) and the next is a battle theme. 😊 I like your take that the battle theme feels like you're being chased. I think that's a nice view of it. Like we have to defend ourselves from whatever's chasing us. 😆 I feel like it hypes up the team when I play co-op with friends.
2:07 i love that you mentioned LOTR cos that was also my first thought when i first heard it & everyone else was going Alladin or something😭 (and yes im a big fan of LOTR and tolkien in general)
I never heard those influences in the music (I'm also a big LOTR fan) but they must be there because there's definitely aesthetic influence from Lothlorien etc
One of the things I like the most is the Genshin's leitmotiv. You kinda talk about it at 15:00. If you pay attention, most main songs has this leitmotiv. I really really love it.
If you wanna continue listen to Sumeru's battle themes, you can check out the video "Forest of Jnana and Vidya - Disc 4: Battles of Sumeru | Genshin Impact" it's from the official channel, as well as "The Unfathomable Sand Dunes - Disc 3: Battles of Sumeru 2|Genshin Impact" although at the end has some "spoilers" for Boss Themes.
You know you just summoned a lot of genshin people here right? Because we love to see people reacting to hoyo mix music especially genshin music. I hope you enjoy the ride and welcome onboard!
There aren't equivalents to these for Liyue and Mondstadt, but I recommend the Divine Damsel of Devastation live for Liyue, and Caelestium Finale Termini for Mondstadt!
If you are playing the game too, there will be lots and lots lore to catch and music to hear, after all this is a game that had been constantly updated for 4 years, going to the 5th years now. And there will be live concerts in several cities (east Asia, Southeast Asia, US, Germany if I remember correctly. hopefully they still sell the tickets though). Welcome to the community 😁
I super excited that you decided to play the game! Definitely looking forward to your play through, and reactions. You are so wholesome. I’ll be your in game friend and help you with bosses if you need it! ❤. Also recommendations for Genshin reactions: Zhongli Demo Trailer, The Teyvat Chapter Trailer preview. For other music reactions, check out Mihoyo’s other games Honkai Impact the 3rd, and Honkai Starrail’s live concerts. Mihoyo is definitely a music company that has video games as a side gig.
Thanks for the reaction ✨✨✨ I really love songs from this region. And I really like this region in the game itself. The second song just wants to make me run somewhere The melodies of Natlan and Sumeru are my favorites now
To this day, Sumeru's music is my favorite! (They all have a special place in my heart though ❤) I'm so glad you're enjoying the music!!! Your reactions have been fantastic!
for the live symphonies the first song is usually the theme for the regions main city, the second song is usually the battle theme when u enter combat in the region. hence why the second song is usually more upbeat and fast paced
Can't wait for you to experience Inazuma!!! Specifically if you check out individual tracks I will always recommend _Duel In the Mist_ . I was OBSESSED with that track and remember jamming to it while doing dishes at my old job.
I think I saw someone point the bassoon out too you, it's a double reed instrument - think really big oboe XD (I used to play oboe and flute in school) 7:25 is an Oud, essentially a big lute - played in a lot of Arabic music 7:57 is a Sitar from India 8:43 is a Indian hammered dulcimer known as Santoor from the zither family of instruments - there are a lot of types of dulcimers our there. All dulcimers are zithers, but not all zithers are dulcimers. The woman in the same frame is playing a Tanpura - it's sorta a droning type instrument but it adds texture and support for pieces. (seen better when they are panning at 10:00)
Sumeru is the fantasy name of this region which is also based some on the Sumer civilization (one of the first known in the Mesopotamian region of the world) and those that grew out from it, so all the middle eastern and south asian civilizations. There are some folklore from around this period of time that are referenced in Genshin. Genshin in general uses folklore from all over to create their stories and weave together some amazing lore for their world.
Since they don't really come up on top when searching them there are 2 more side performances for Sumeru and Fontaine The Sumeru one is called "Sumeru OST "Forest of Jnana and Vydia" Preview MV The Fontaine one is called "Lamentation et Triomphe" both are more like MVs and a bit shorter, the same thing applies for Inazuma there are 2 videos, the symphony performance and "Duel in the Mist" the MV
Hello man, great video as always. Glad you also enjoyed genshin's music as much as I do Next maybe you want to react to boss theme or characters theme. Also, welcome to Genshin's family you dont need to play the game to be part of the family 🎉🎉🎉
Genshin game is really unique by putting into regions on which is playgame based real nations and cultures. So every nation in Genshin's Teyvat is inspired by various bucket of cultures. Sumeru region is inspired by India and Middle East, Egypt. And so Genshin's music tries to depictthe atmosphereof this and also to bring into it original touch. You can also try to hear and react on other Genshin music such as Boss themes (Harbinger themes especially). Also OST of each region is truly unique, but the complete experience and appreciating of music could be done knly if playing along abd doing quests related to it. So wish you fun and may you enjoy with exploring Genshin when you start playing x)
As a person from the Middle East, I am happy 😊 And I'm not happy at the same time. We have been removed from the conversation. I will cry 😢 . . . . . . I may be joking or not 19:16 Well, I forgive you 😂😂 Keep going ❤
1:20 Oh wow the music succeeds! It's true that when that melody plays in the game, the players are watching/listening to a tragic tale of Sumeru in the past!
The music of Sumeru in *Genshin Impact* is inspired by traditional music from regions that reflect a blend of Indian, Middle Eastern, and North African influences. Sumeru's soundtrack features elements characteristic of Indian music, such as the use of sitar and tabla, as well as influences from Arabic and Persian music, incorporating instruments like the oud and ney. This reflects Sumeru's world design, which combines elements from various cultures, primarily drawing inspiration from India and the Middle East, creating a unique atmosphere rich in ethnic nuances.
7:07 The instrument I _believe_ is an oud. An instrument in the lute family (IIRC european lutes derive from the oud). They are gorgeous instruments both physically and in terms of their sound. Used a lot in middle eastern music.
8:50 The instrument that he's striking like a xylophone is some variety of hammered dulcimer. I am not sufficiently familiar with them as a group to know which one, but maybe a santur or santoor?
@@nichthrafnthat specific instrument he is playing is Persian Santur not Indian santoor He is Persian he also have a youtube channel I think Santur is ancient dulicmer other are derived from it
Sumeru setting is genius, the name seems to be a combine of Sumerian civilization and Hindu Sumeru Mountain. the game also divide country into two major area, The desert (Arab Persian) with pyramid and the rain forest (India) with giant tree.

Yep the Sitar And Oud battle ❤
Port Ormos s2
I love Port of Ormos 🥹
Sumeru is my favorite area in Genshin and all the music is SO good.
Sumeru OST is just so peak
17:32 I'm laughing here because of how accurate it is. That's me running away from the annoying fungi that triggers this very song in the forest😂
Natlan OST totally fire, but until today Sumeru musics are still my fave.
I get emotional every time I hear Sumeru's OST
We haven't seen all the Natlan OST but yeah Sumeru's bar is very high (sorry Fontaine). I'm looking forward to how Natlan will try to surpass it
20:48 That's "polymeter". When two or more musical patterns of different lengths are continuously played together and coincide on strong beats on certain measures. It gives an "offset" feeling, creating tension. Here is a rough visual representation of what is happening:
Pattern 1 length : | - - - - |
Pattern 2 length : | - - - - - - |
When played together continuously :
| - - - - | - - - - | - - - - | - - - - |
| - - - - - - | - - - - - | - - - - - - |
This composer, Yu-Peng Chen, employs this element in quite a few of his music. You'll hear polymeters again to a lesser extent in the Inazuma symphony, also composed by the same composer.
Yu-Peng Chen is now one of my favourite composers of all time
Thank you for the reaction! Just going to dump a little background and lore here. I've been a day 1 Genshin player, my background is in ethnomusicology and my wife is a historian so I can at least back up some facts here. 😊
Each region is inspired geologically, culturally and musically by specific regions and historical eras in our world.
Instruments seen here:
3:30 this is a bassoon, which is a common Western instrument found in many symphonies.
6:04 this is the mandolin, which is a grandson of the Arabic super stringed instrument the oud which is heard at 7:12
6:40 caxixi, a north african rattle drum
7:37 the riqq, also known as the tambourine
7:40 the infamous sitar from India.
Earlier at 7:30 was the ney flute, from Egypt
Fontaine is a progressive region based on Western Mediterranean nations, mostly France and Italy.
It is the nation of fire and its theme seems to be "war."
African instruments from the Live Symphony include:
the dondo or talking drum, Yoruba, West Africa
the mbira, Shona, Zimbabwe
the kora, Mandinka/jali, West Africa
South American instruments from the Live Symphony include:
the ocarina
the quena flute, Andes, Peru
the zampoña or siku, a Peruvian panflute
Caribbean instruments from the Live Symphony:
steel drum, Trinidad and Tobago
Snezhnaya is not yet released and won't be for another year or so, but we can glean a little bit from characters that are released in game.
Thanks for the info
8:16 the lady playing percussion is Nagara(indian)twin drums
Tabla are played with hands not stick
That lady played two percussion the other one which is more close to her is Naqareh middle east percussion where the one with sticks two large drums Nagara here 17:14
Sitar orgin are very unclear but one of them is its originated from a Persian Setar
the other is a similar looking instrument is already exist and was used in india The Veena(ancient string instrument of india)
Yes! Sumeru theme was something else 🔥
It is insane how he picks up on things that are deeply ingrained in genshin lore, like it the beginning where he is describing how the first part feels like a god has died between a group of friends of gods.
Thanks. Deejaying has given me like a 6th sense. I have to read mood during events and know what to play
and then when he said he felt like the music sounded like someone was running in the forest and the music is the fight ost in the avidiya forest (which I usually run from) XD
It's true, Sumeru music makes you picture so many images in your mind! It's personally my comfort region for now
Same! Sumeru feels like home to me😭
Sumeru is based on Middle East and South Asia, so you are very correct on getting Indian, Dubai, Egyptian vibe.
Correction, it's London Symphony Orchestra, they're different from LPO. Iirc, they work with LPO on the early years, like with Mondstadt OST.
@@saerimiese 是的,原神在早期就一直和伦敦交响乐团进行合作了。实际上除了关键的主城音乐战斗音乐等,有一些偏远地区的音乐很多也是和伦敦交响乐团合作创作的。他们的实力值得肯定。
English translation:
Yes,you are right.
@@saerimiese noted. thanks a lot
your intuitions and inferences are pretty spot on, yes.
the music really tells the story
The instrument you were wondering about around 3:40 is a bassoon. It is an instrument in the woodwind family of the orchestra. Loved your reaction to the Natlan live btw ❤
Thank you very much 😀 for explaining the instrument and watching my videos
This man got culture shocked so much this past few days lol.
Hehe, I'm learning alot
was very excited to see your reaction to sumeru's music! i would say it was my favourite before the recent natlan symphony
edit: would also love to see your reaction to another sumeru song 'port ormos'. a much shorter song but still interesting
Yeah that one is actually performed in another official genshin impact Orchestra promo video. They even filmed it in a different kind of location, so it looked like the performers were among the trees and grass.
Can I get a link to that? Or tweet me @edygrim
@@AlphaWolfRadioWithEdygrimDJ Sumeru OST "Forest of Jnana and Vidya" Preview MV | Genshin Impact
sumeru is the nation of wisdom and it is mostly inspired by middle east, india and ancient egypt
Please, someday consider making a video talking about Kikuyu people, the difference between it and Swahili language and how the tribes are distributed in Kenya. I would love to learn more about your country!
I just made that video. It's here >>>>> th-cam.com/video/9WtPV4-n3zs/w-d-xo.html
As a Indian I agree with your statement
it's more like
30% egypt
30% persia
30% india
10%% mix of other cultures.
I always get surprised how ppl forget persia as the core sumeru element and sweep it under the 'middle east' rug when more than half the lore of entire sumeru is directly iterated from there..
@@rootedpen2the reason is because Persia is in middle east that's why
That other language u can't understand is Indian Sanskrit and other Persian both used in Rainforest area heavily
@@rootedpen2persia / iran is part of the middle east and since every country from the middle east is present in sumeru people just shorten it as the middle east its not rlly sweeping it under the middle east rug when its literally a middle eastern country
Sumeru ost is amazing, you can feel the desert and the jungle with the music ❤
Most instruments here (beside orchestra) are middle eastern, Indian and even balkan. Big lute shaped guitar is called oud, small guitar with long thin neck next to him is saz, short small guitars are mandolins, the one with the huge heck is sitar. Long wooden flute is bansuri, short one with mouth piece is duduk. Xylophone looking thing with strings is santur
The flute in this piece used shamshir(desert) is Ney from middle east while the forest one swirls of stream had Bansuri
Bansuri is Side blown whereas a Ney is end blown flute
Slotting it in my list of upcoming videos. expect is soon
Inazuma next yay💖
Maybe when u are done with regions u can react to some boss music from genshin, its incredible. Or playing through the game its perfect too
Yes, yes. I just uploaded Inazuma reaction and the boss music has already been recommended 😀 Expect those uploads soon
@@AlphaWolfRadioWithEdygrimDJ love all your content!!! Imma go see it now:)
Sumeru, the nation of wisdom, It's inspired by MENA, MiddleEast-NorthAfrica. As well as India
The older ones:
- Chapter 2: "Inazuma" and "Overloard of the Thunderstorm" by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra: th-cam.com/video/e4bptIoZFDE/w-d-xo.html
- Chapter 1: "Liyue" by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra: th-cam.com/video/8svl0sQXDLI/w-d-xo.html
- Prelude: "Mondstadt" by the Flanders Symphony Orchestra: th-cam.com/video/UIam8zl4af8/w-d-xo.html
@@gensao Thanks for the correction.
Sumeru region is based on Indian and middle eastern(arabic/persian/Egyptian) moslty on this 4 culture but also may have some other middle east countries culture mixed in Turkish/Armenian also little north africa culture in desert with percussion instrument like udd, caxixi used

I see so it's like bahasa indonesia is my national language and javanese is my mother language. Good to know that..
I like the honest reaction which could remind you of something like a movie which i also whatched them so i understand.. 😄 no exaggerating expression.. loved it
How about a song title : " Hustle and Bustle of Ormos " This is the most favorite song of sumeru as far as i know (cmiiw).. what do you think about it?
Thank you for the video.. look forward to another video of genshin impact.. no need to be full of genshin impact, but thank you for adding genshin impact as your contents.. have a good day..
for me sundanese is my mother languange 😄😄😄
i thought of replying with the same thing as you so yeah, imagine my surprise seeing my countryman here.
Lmao first thing that comes to mind too, when he said swahili is not my mother tongue I was like aah so its like bahasa Indonesia
7:08 that instrument is called "Oud". I enjoyed your reaction my friend!
Thanks 😀 Cheers. Glad to have you hear
Hey man, im so glad you decided to stick around and make more Genshin music related video! Aren't they amazing? ☺️
I hope you'll have fun with the game itself once you do play it. Take your time with it too.
Crazy all the stuff you reference comes straight from my childhood. Big world, small place.
Every genshin region live symphony has 2 songs, the first is the main theme and the second is battle music. That's why the second piece of music has a fast tempo
There are 7 region in genshin impact with different reference:
- Mondstat = Germany
- Liyue = China
- Inazuma = Japan
- Sumeru = mixed India and Middle East
- Fontaine = mixed France, England, and Italy
- Natlan = mixed Africa and South America (New region to be released in version 5.0 on August 28, 2024)
- Snezhnaya (not released yet) = Russia
The first two region live symphony are part of a longer concerts (not with the main them 1st and a battle theme 2nd):
- Prelude: "Mondstadt": th-cam.com/video/UIam8zl4af8/w-d-xo.html
- Chapter 1: "Liyue": th-cam.com/video/8svl0sQXDLI/w-d-xo.html
I think he should do the entire "Refection of Spring" concert for Liyue (China): th-cam.com/video/8svl0sQXDLI/w-d-xo.html
For Modstadt, an alternative is to play this clipped (three song) version of the 2021 concert: th-cam.com/video/IKGQGzrGrxk/w-d-xo.html
thanks for reacting and sharing your insight! it's wonderful that people's differences of approaching/ performing music ended up proving how connected we are as human beings
7:09 this instrument is the Oud. It’s basically the middle eastern version of a lute :)
Yes, Sumeru is a hot pot of Middle Eastern countries with a little touch of Egyptian since the region is composed of a rainforest and a desert.
There are two more official live symphony performance for Sumeru. You should check that out.
Those soundtracks were loved by the players. Especially the Port Ormos OST
I like it when you're vibing on the fighting music. I always enjoy the fight with the slimes in Sumeru.
There are several songs in Sumeru that employ more complex meters like 5/4, 7/4 and more!
this guy commentary is a spot on lol. subscribed
😆 I feel like it hypes up the team when I play co-op with friends.
not only india they fused both middle eastern/ north africa with india
For me it's like persian vibe of music 😅😅😅
2:07 i love that you mentioned LOTR cos that was also my first thought when i first heard it & everyone else was going Alladin or something😭
(and yes im a big fan of LOTR and tolkien in general)
I never heard those influences in the music (I'm also a big LOTR fan) but they must be there because there's definitely aesthetic influence from Lothlorien etc
Omg it's been years since I heard someone mention Sense8 😭 I love that series too
One of the things I like the most is the Genshin's leitmotiv. You kinda talk about it at 15:00. If you pay attention, most main songs has this leitmotiv. I really really love it.
glad to see it
My favorite Sumeru music is the port ormos night and day theme love those 2.
If you wanna continue listen to Sumeru's battle themes, you can check out the video "Forest of Jnana and Vidya - Disc 4: Battles of Sumeru | Genshin Impact" it's from the official channel, as well as "The Unfathomable Sand Dunes - Disc 3: Battles of Sumeru 2|Genshin Impact" although at the end has some "spoilers" for Boss Themes.
your reactions are amazing!!! I also thought of The Lord of the Rings when I heard it for the first time haha
12:45 I see. thanks a lot for more info on the cultural and social background. Or well.. thanks a lot on info about yourself. 😀
3:30 that's a bassoon
Mihoyo is definitely a music company that has video games as a side gig.
you my friend, are going to love the OST. If anything, Genshin impact never misses in their music performances / departments. 10 / 10
+1 sub
Thanks for the reaction ✨✨✨
I really love songs from this region. And I really like this region in the game itself. The second song just wants to make me run somewhere
The melodies of Natlan and Sumeru are my favorites now
To this day, Sumeru's music is my favorite! (They all have a special place in my heart though ❤) I'm so glad you're enjoying the music!!! Your reactions have been fantastic!
Oh hell yeah Sense8 mention! You know what's up
for the live symphonies the first song is usually the theme for the regions main city, the second song is usually the battle theme when u enter combat in the region. hence why the second song is usually more upbeat and fast paced
Can't wait for you to experience Inazuma!!! Specifically if you check out individual tracks I will always recommend _Duel In the Mist_ . I was OBSESSED with that track and remember jamming to it while doing dishes at my old job.
Let's goooo, no more cropping! 🎉
I was cropping because my screen recorder had an issue. It kept recording the full screen and I didn't know how to change it. I finally cracked it 😀
Have fun on your journey, brother.
Sumeru is my favorite OST for now
So swahili is like a language connects multiple different ethnic groups like indonesian i see👍
I'm so happy you listened to this symphony as well! I can definitely recommend you to listen to the soundtrack "Port Ormos" from Genshin!
13:24 It’s funny because it is the same in India! My mother tongue in Gujarati whereas the national language is Hindi.
Love from India ❤️❤️❤️❤️
welcome to genshin impact family ❤️
I think I saw someone point the bassoon out too you, it's a double reed instrument - think really big oboe XD (I used to play oboe and flute in school)
7:25 is an Oud, essentially a big lute - played in a lot of Arabic music
7:57 is a Sitar from India
8:43 is a Indian hammered dulcimer known as Santoor from the zither family of instruments - there are a lot of types of dulcimers our there.
Just wanted to clarify that santoor is a persian instrument ^^
Sumeru have so much good music😊
uh ohhhhh! Genshin music got you hooked 🤣
Since they don't really come up on top when searching them there are 2 more side performances for Sumeru and Fontaine
The Sumeru one is called "Sumeru OST "Forest of Jnana and Vydia" Preview MV
The Fontaine one is called "Lamentation et Triomphe"
both are more like MVs and a bit shorter, the same thing applies for Inazuma there are 2 videos, the symphony performance and "Duel in the Mist" the MV
"like something just died"... Ok, no spoilers from me
Hello man, great video as always. Glad you also enjoyed genshin's music as much as I do
Next maybe you want to react to boss theme or characters theme.

1:20 Oh wow the music succeeds! It's true that when that melody plays in the game, the players are watching/listening to a tragic tale of Sumeru in the past!
Sumeru's OST will forever be my favorite.
I had no idea that there are tribes in a country and each tribe has a different language. That is very interesting! You learn something new every day.
