Thank you for the explanation about the wine glasses and mandolin usage in the orchestra, I can't believe the wine glasses are considered percussion! And I still love the shirt 🔥
- The guy who said "the redneck in me wants to call it a mandolin"
😂 Damn I laughed at that reaction part.
Tuned wine glasses are a beautiful thing, and depending on the density of the contents you can also produce different tonalities
In a similar case, the glass harmonica works in the same way but based off of pressure and friction applied onto bowls of different sizes, with smaller bowls producing higher pitches. The instrument is also extremely easy to break, due to resonating pitches shattering the glass, which is also ludicrously expensive to repair. It's a whole other level of expertise and precision. They're also called Hydrocrystalaphones, which I think is really pretty
@@Aona_Music hydrocrystalaphone?
Now that's a name. I love it!
❤❤❤❤❤
Basically anything is percussion 😂 even a table.
Thank you for featuring me in this video Robert! Your work is truly remarkable! Can't wait for your next project with Genshin Impact.
More to come! Thanks for your channel too!!

I hope you enjoy this video - let me know what you'd like me to film next! 🎥
Sumeru? It's magical
Would love to hear about how you worked with the composers to land on the final interpretation of the recording. I'm sure you had some cool exchanges!
reaction video to Sumeru (Genshin Impact region like Fontaine~)
Appreciate the nice breakdown of the Fontaine piece to relatively new orchestral listeners. Loved that you took actual viewer reactions and worked with that to explain the proces, Bravo! 👏🎵
May be Sumeru. It's also the beginning of the Sumeru.
SHEEEEEEEESH! (I appreciate the cameo haha) You guys are so talented and it's always a pleasure whenever we're treated to a live-show performance of Genshin Impact's music library!
yooo it's the bird killer guy!
Hello, Arnold! I hope you have a wonderful day/night!
THEIR RECORDINGS ARE SIGHT READ?!?! That's insane! I can't imagine being so masterful in my instrument to feel comfortable having some of my first experiences with a new piece of music to be recorded and used all over the world in a popular video game. It's truly incredible and gives me so much more respect than I already had for these professional musicians.
I thought not all orchestra players were in the legendary tier list though, you'd need to be someone extremely special to be able to sight read on the spot and play it whatever it is.
So the pianist shredding on the piano is a sight reader perhaps? I wouldn't in a million year. I'm happy that my ears are blessed with such musical expertise.
I haven’t gone through the whole video yet so- SIGHT READ?!?! THATS INSANE!!! The musicality in this piece was PERFECT!!! I can’t believe it was sight read!
There is a reason I gave up on being such a great musician, I cant even begin to compare myself to these geniuses
Thanks! 🙏
Incredible! It's such an honor to have you explain the hard work that goes into such a performance.
thank you so much for making this video and letting us look behind the scenes of this magical concert. I hope this video goes viral
Hoyo don't mess around with the quality of the music. For a free game, it's extremely underrated compared to "AAA" game for the amount of effect put into it.
I laughed out loud at some reactions; when you come from a professional background it's easy to forget how most people may not be familiar with certain instruments you learn to take for granted. Thank you very much for your open and humorous attitude. My best regards to the brilliant musicans and team behind the scenes!
lol the teleport sound effect got me.
When I heard that Hoyoverse was getting the London Symphony Orchestra and Ziegler on board for the new region, I was pleasantly surprised. I should not had been surprised as they have a long history of insane music quality over years now. I have no idea how they are going to up the aunty for the next region. I still have not gotten over the Fibonacci sequence being used as a time signature.
The glass armonica is a really difficult instrument to play. Getting the right pressure on the glass and sustaining it is touchy. Also the glass is very fragile.
Oh, so percussion was in charge of the glass harp. I was wondering who would have taken on that instrument.
Didn't the LSO also do the Mondstat and Sumeru music as well? Or was that the London Philharmonic?
@@alexlyster3459 They have used a lot of orchestras so it is a bit hard to keep track, but I think most of Mondstat was done by Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. I am rather sure Inazuma was Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. There were other orchastras along the way as well.
@Jesses001 Oh no doubt it's hard to keep track of at this point! ButI looked it up: They used the London Philharmonic for Mondstat, then the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra for Liyue, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra for Inazuma as you stated, before returning to the London Philharmonic for Sumeru, but with guest players for traditional Middle Eastern/Indian instruments. Then finally to the London Symphony Orchestra for Fontaine! So alot of jumping about 😅
@@alexlyster3459 Thanks for the list. I really lost track, ha. I remember them brining in specialists for some of it. I even saw some instruments I never seen before, which is rare for me.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The fact that the musicians don't see the music before the recording session is incredible!! It takes me weeks of practice. You all are incredible, thank you for this behind the scenes look!
As an amateur soprano and flutist, it’s an honor to be able to have the conductor (and such an accomplished one at it!) walk us through this amazing concert! I started playing Genshin in early 2023 and the music is definitely one of the things stayed 😍
Thanks for including our reactions to this video! We absolutely love your work and its an honor to be acknowledged by you.
Also you're welcome for liking your shirt, you are very fashionable! Hope to see more of your work soon!
Omg!! Thank you for including me!! 💕
Wow! Your enthusiasm for the game and the music is really inspiring to me! I'm working on new videos about Genshin music (Sumeru, Melodies of an Endless Journey) with BTS stuff that I hope you'll enjoy. Also more about conducting in general and, if you like Genshin music then lots of classical pieces that you'll enjoy as well. See you soon!! Thanks again for watching and for your comments.
Thank you so much for the video! I've seen all the Genshin concerts up to date and I've already started to recognize some faces in the participating orchestras :D When I see you conduct, I know we're with the London Orchestra ♥ Thank you so much for your work! (And to all the musicians as well)
as a cellist, I can't begin to explain how much your conducting and the orchestra itself in Fontaine meant to me. thank you so much for your passion, sir. it brought me to tears several times 🫶🏻
Hello fellow cellist!! 🥹
@@zakii-san hi!! 🥺
1:01
Knew you must be very well versed in Genshin’s music when out of all the sound effects to use for your video transition, you chose the teleport waypoint sound effect 😂
Loved the video, and would love to hear more about your insights of conducting symphonic music for popular media!
This was so cool to watch! Thank you so much for giving us a deeper look into the process and thank you for including my reaction as well
first time in my life knowing what role does the conductor plays. great video btw, love from Taiwan!!
Thanks so much for watching. There are more videos to come!
演出真的太棒了!听得我热泪盈眶。真的非常感谢您精彩的演出
The musicians play it the first time that day?! I thought they practiced it at least a week by how good it sounds.
Genshin Impact tracks are amazing by itself but the fact we get to see such talented, learned and experienced musicians such as yourself playing and conducting in the live symphonic orchestra is a abundant blessing. Thanks for entertaining and sharing your knowledge as well as your experience with us. Much love and respect to you and everyone involved ❤
I can't believe how good orchestra musicians are. They basically sight-read the music while being recorded. When I was in my school band, we took weeks to months to prepare for a performance, and these people prepare in minutes. Absolutely incredible.
Its always amazing to see such opera and getting some behind the scene insight. Classical music is so beautiful its hard to explain almost as if every piece of creation has a lore behind it.
00:48 That's me! 😳 Seriously though, thank you so much for the breakdown and your incredible work on this! I was actually able to watch a live performance by the London Symphony Orchestra when I was younger and it was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life.
And thank you for including my little clip in here haha! 🥳
We living in the best time in human history. Back in the days of my music teacher, they would have to import a expensive tape just to listen to the orchestra and make out every thing. But i get a master class from the man himself , for free
The fact these talented musicians can play perfectly with less than a day of prep is absolutely unfathomable to me. Simply amazing thank you for shedding some light to the background of these orchestra recordings.
The little loading sounds from the game on every transition are such a nice touch and the explanation of the various instruments and workings of the orchestra are truly fascinating.
waiting for the marcomeatball collab
such a cool video!!! thanks for making this!!!!!!
This is really surprising but appreciated. I've watched the live performance over and over because of how good it was and its nice to see you give your input on how you collectively made it happen. You were also quite entertaining.
wow! what an honor to see a video by the conductor of the greatest music from Genshin Impact!
3:36 hearing only the beginning already give me goosebumps.
Thanks for these valuable insights, Mr. Ziegler! Who better to guide us through a conductor's role than the maestro himself? I really liked how you covered different people's reactions and incorporated their questions in this video. Moreover, shedding light on some of the more unique instruments featured in the concert was especially fascinating. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and hope there's more like this in the future! Thank you for your exceptional work! :)
The soundtrack of Genshin Impact really is something else. I'm pretty confident that many of its orchestral or chamber pieces will enter the classic canon along with great composers like Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi... To me at least they are at that level.
Thank you for making this video! I was really interested in the behind-the-scenes of an orchestra/live recording (why they wear headphones etc).
Another funny thing is, I've already known you can use regular wine glasses to make high-pitched sounds, because it was my project for Science class during homeschooling. When I heard, then saw them in the recording, I was amazed, because it's really fitting for a region inspired by France (and England)!
Also, I wish you a successful new year! I'm looking forward to your videos!
Gotta love TH-cam recommendations for this ❤. Thank you kind sir for explaining what your duty as a conductor is. You have my utmost admiration and aspiration to seek more about music, through Genshin Impact 😬
Aww such a nice and cool guy, when I saw him conducting the Fontaine performance, (ofc, im one of those that doesn't know what the conductor does) i could feel the direction and guidance through his gestures. What an honour to have you in a part of our journey.
It's a fantastic performance and feast. I tried to transcribe the whole Fontaine main title in the past. When I finished, I was impressed by the exquisite thinking of the composer Dimeng Yuan. His textures played by the woodwinds and the piano are quite atrractive. In addition, all the musicians are so efficient that they only need little time to adjust. Thanks for all the members participating in the Genshin. By the way, I remembered you also participate in the Sumeru theme which may may many lovers are curious abot.
This deserve more love fontaines live symphony is so beautiful
I want the channel like that! With a conductor, who explains his part of work and other stuff. Because I like orchestra music, but I don't know theory at all.
So thank you very much!
(sorry for my poor English. I wish say more, but it's difficult😅)
Thank you so much for this behind the scenes look and for conducting all of these amazing musical masterpieces! Also thank you for telling us what conductors do. I found this fascinating! I just subbed to your channel because I love these types of things!
Sir, As a player, it was epic
AHHHHH This entire game and its music and watching every region's orchestra play the pieces on the official TH-cam has made me miss ensemble playing so much. Even more so listening to such a talent talk about it and respond directly to people that are interested in it because of the game itself. Props to you and what you do. Great conductors don't get enough praise.
OOF I love my recommendation. It's an honor to have you be working on Genshin, Sir.
Let us raise our chalices and toast for more years of working together, to come.
Such an in depth look from the conductors perspective is truly a rare occurrence
From one musical mind to another, I love it! You were all stunning ❤️❤️
Thanks so much for this video! I noticed you've been working with Genshin Impact ever since the first music tracks were recorded, so it's absolutely fascinating to see you offer some insight into the music of the game. I would love to hear more of your thoughts on this game's music and the comparisons that can be drawn to the classical music from which HOYO-MiX draws heavy inspiration; as well as your experiences working with the huge variety of different musicians in addition to Hoyoverse themselves.
It would also be great to hear some more about the making of Sumeru's soundtrack as well, as I feel like the multitude of ethnic instruments played alongside the symphony orchestra (like the bağlama sitting behind you in this video) provides a very interesting challenge for classical trained musicians.
Also, if I may be so bold, since you worked a lot with the game's original composer Yu-Peng Chen, did you perceive any difference working on the Fontaine score that was composed after his departure from the team?
Master, I'm very grateful for this video. It's really helpful having you explain the work you did for this music, especially at this time of getting a grade next year in Music Arts. I love this OST and his wonderful performance. Greetings from Valdivia, Chile!
This was so cool to watch!
Thanks for including our videos Robert!!! This live symphony is really a masterpiece, thanks for sharing the behind the scenes of this awesome performance!
London Symphonic Orchestra has been one of my favourite orchestras since childhood!❤❤❤
Omg I've been asking GI to let's us know with a vid about what the musicians experienced while playing genshin music. They didn't do it obviously but I'm so glad you did this vid!
❤
Sorry I'm jn a super excited fan mode.
Thank you for all the great work you do and I want to thank all the talented musicians from London Symphonic Orchestra too❤ you are all music in human form ❤
This guy is so capable in everything music related.
Thank you so much for sharing, Sir! I'll stick around for sure. There are so much new knowledge for me. Fascinating.
MR. Ziegler, thank you for letting us know the process of such videos. Yourself & the rest of the orchestra members do amazingly on the performances.
Thank you for your work! I love how Genshin is making hundreds of millions of gen Z gain an ear and interest for classical music!
I love Genshin because it manages to bring so many cultures together into one via music and cultural appreciation!
Appreciate the nice breakdown of the Fontaine piece to relative new orchestral listeners. Loved that you took actual viewer reactions and worked with that to explain the proces, Bravo! 👏🎵
Really good insights of what a conducter usually does. Great explanation sir. 😊
Thanks! more coming soon!
Wow! I first saw you during the Sumeru concert and I absolutely loved the job you did. When you returned for the Fontaine live concert I was so happy. And now you have made a video going into detail. Truly a treat! Thank you!
I first saw him in Mondstadt ost behind the scene so it's amazing he's still with Genshin all these years.
Cant wait for Natlan theme is the future!!!
I can’t describe how much I loved watching this video ✨ Thank you for sharing the process of the recording, Fontaine is one of my favorite soundtracks in Genshin 💖 It’s amazing to be able to learn more about the music 🙏✨
Thank you! That is a very nice to have a orchestra 101.
It was amazing, the result is outstanding, thank you for this masterpiece Mr. Ziegler
you are welcome!!!!
Very nice! I look forward to seeing more of your videos!
I think of your concert whenever I hear those tracks when I'm playing Genshin Impact. I think of the live video. You gave us, the community, such a huge gift. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!!
Thank you for teaching us about the things we wouldn't know as a common folk!
you’re awesome. i’m speechless
I hope you will stay with Hoyo for many years. I love what you and the musicians bring to the studio versions of the soundtracks. And concerts are the best background for work
I've been listening to that concert religiously since it came out, thank you all for your hard work❤
Can we talk about this guys taste in shirts?
Absolute legend
Wait, wine glasses actually have the Hydro symbols on them. Nice touch
Hey!!
Aren't You the one from Sumeru symphony orchestra?
You honestly killed it. It was honestly a banger!!
It's my fav till now!!
You've left an impression on me!!
Thnx for those masterpiece
Yes, it’s me. I’m preparing a similar video for Sumeru for TH-cam. Thanks for watching!
What a legend, thank you for all this informative and interesting information about the behind the scenes. Dimeng Yuan's Fontaine music is pretty impressive
Wow, i love these kinds of videos so much. And what's more amazing is that it's the conductor himself! I learned a lot!
I've always been so curious about each nation's theme. It's my first time watching a video like this!
Whenever I see people at the top of their crafts perform it almost feels like sometimes they aren't humans the same way we are. Its a surreal experience to it from their (your) pov.
Thanks so much 🙏
Honestly the extent of my music knowledge goes as far as a ball on a flat plane
But you have made it so easy to understand, and it was genuinely fun listening to you talk
I've always loved genshin music, and personally Fontaine's was my favorite, so thank you for going into how you made it, and the behind the scenes.
I new that a person wearing that cool shirt would be even cooler in person! +1 subscriber!
OMG i Always wanted to check out Conductor of genshin Impact.... Thanks for great video Cant wait to check out more London Orchestra Music piece
Thank you for being the best conductor for our beloved game, mister. I really love how you compile the video of people's reactions and question and you gave further explaination. I have so much respect for people who master music and their instruments.
murderofbirds/arnold's "sheeesh" at the wine glasses was so quick it made me laugh. this was a fascinating BTS look!
Criminally underwatched video. Great content!
this is what youtube was made for ! thank you very much maestro :)

real joy to watch and learn, very intriguing and insightful, thanks for making this!
I'm so glad you made this video. So often are orchestras held but so rarely do you see such a good and digestible video that gives you the insights of such an intricate and beautiful art
This is so interesting and the editing is on point. Thank you for sharing this with us.

You are fantastic! Thank you for doing this. I always love the behind the scene stuff.
Very thanks, from me, a gamer, who really dedicates to hear, analyse and feel myself better of Genshin OST. I'm not a musician, but watching this kind of videos, and how musicians makes magic in form of music is really awesome. Thanks to you for being the conductor, and I hope I will see you in the future.
