The Sami are indigenous people from Northern Finland - my mother, growing up in the early 20th century would have known them as "Laplanders".

A human zoo is a foreign concept to us today. The closest might be a multicultural center or "reenactment" group... but they are not really anything alike.

Smallpox was known to be extremely lethal - so much so, that it was actually used as a deliberate weapon on the North American continent.
It had a rapid onset, and a very high mortality rate - especially among populations with no previous exposure.
Inoculations for smallpox were known from the 1790's - so sending this group of people to Europe without seems at the very least "criminally" negligent.
A majority of the world's population was being inoculated by 1979 soon after which the disease was considered eradicated.
If have relative born in the 1970's or before, they can probably show you their (usually small) inoculation scar.

The Paris exhibit was indeed in a park..I've seen some other videos that touched on it, I believe some remnants of it still remain today...alltho i believe not everyone involved was a total ass,and some small measure of help and compassion was at least offered..its still as sad a tale as you'd expect

1954 Is The Same Year My Great GrandParents Moved To Canada From The Netherlands With My 2yr Old Grandmother & Her Siblings(i Don't Really Know How Old Her Siblings Are? I Know My Grandma Just Turned 72 This Year & I Think Her Sister Is Around The Same Age? I Know Her One Of Her Brothers Named Joe Is The Oldest Cause He Was A Baby During WW2, Weirdly Enough During WW2 A Bomb Fell Fell Through His House & Landed Next To His Crib When He Was A Baby, This Is What My Great Grandmother Told My Dad)Tho....By Doing That They Lost Their Dutch Citizenship When They Moved Here. The Netherlands Doesn't Have Dual Citizenship, Once You Move Out You Lose Your Citizenship Its A Weird Law The Country Has. My Mother's Family Has Been In Canada Longer Came Here Around The 19th Century. We Are Of Germanic & Scottish/Irish Descent(My Scottish Family Name Is Murdoch)I Have Over 300 Dutch Relatives In The Netherlands
Some American Relatives.
My Family Is Pretty Big.
Also Have Pennsylvania Dutch In My Blood(A Lot Of Germanic In This Family
Which Isn't Surprising Since The Dutch Province Of Lindberg Is Right On The Border With Germany)
