"They hacked my doors. Oh no they hacked my doors." In real life hacking the doors would be quite unfair because you could just flush all the air in seconds and kill the crew.
More effective would be to mind control their pilot right before all the flaks hit, so literally 0 would be dodged. This would make the fight half as long.
@@trequor Yeah it does, I think he meant for all ships in general. It's not a bad strategy for the flagship though(20% reduction in dodge, due to auto pilot). But if I had mind control I would much rather use it on the laser or missle(laser usually, as missle I would most like take out bia boarding, or just heavy/hull/fire laser till dead)
@@seanlee566 the problem with that is, on hard mode the missile and laser rooms are connected to the rest of the ship, so neither mind control nor boarding work particularly well there. MC on the pilot is probably the largest impact you can have on the Flagship in phase one and two, and countering the Flagship's MC in phase three is probably better than mind controlling enemy crew.
I once had a flak two, Glaive beam, small bomb and pre-igniter on the Stealth B. The flagship only managed to do ONE damage to me throughout the entire 3 phases ^^
awesome run.... in the last few seconds of your vid.... there is a dude being mindcontrolled ...you can counter that with your own mind control ...just mindcontrol the mindcontrolled dude Cheers Awesome Run ! ....
I swear anyone who gets an opportunity to spare their lives, only spares them when they offer something really good to help you, and that's what I do with slavers
Flak is so strong. I never even tried it until today. almost beat the flagship, but accidentally left my boarding crew on it. I'm waiting for my crew to level up on a weak ship right now. makes a big difference.
ASB = Anti-Ship Battaries. If they're red, they're enemies, green if allies. The only instance of an allied ASB is I think in the abandoned sector as a random event. They go through all shields like missiles but they can cause breaching and do (I think) 1 damage.
I’ve once had dual Vulcans with weapon preigniter, full shields, max cloak, hacking, and mind control. I also had stealth weapons. The boss fight didn’t stand a chance. I was so strong, I was able to farm nodes in the last sector. They all gave 50+ scrap guaranteed. Some of them gave double rewards. I also had flaks, and that’s what I was using until I found the Vulcans, but afterwards the system power limit wouldn’t allow more than two Vulcans. During the boss fight, he got a boarding drone into my weapons and I had to use one Vulcan and a flak for that phase.
I had something similar, with 4 x Burst Lasers II, pre-igniter, and level 3 cloak. So I was able to get basically 24 lasers off before they even had a chance to charge weapons, often 36 lasers before they could fire a shot
It's only overpowerd when you have Autoloader and 2 vulcans. Add in 2 Automated Re-loaders for 20% faster charge and you're unstopable. Make it 30% with a longer start up time without the pre-ignitor to be even more powerful.
i got quite a strong loadout as well (note: this was on a mod called FTL: captain's edition) starting with the shrike (starts with tele, mind control and 2 flak m1) and got an artillery laser mk2 (which pierces a shield and does 6 damage on hit), with this loadout, i got my 1st captain's edition win
Burst Laser II is better, but only slightly. It has a better chance to hit and can't misfire and hit another room. But both weapons are great because they are 3 shots for only 2 power
Wow, maxed shields, maxed engines, maxed reactor, maxed weapons, maxed mind control, maxed piloting, a pre-igniter, a battery, a drone control, and a level 2 teleporter... what else happened during the run to provide you with so much scrap? (I know the OP has probably left this galaxy by now, but if anyone has any ideas...)
I got the teleporter and the second mantis (ship starts with one) early. Boarding victories generate A+ results on so many encounters, definitely better than destroying the enemy ship. All that scrap plus many shops is how this run got so lucky.
Nah, Vulcans are good, but they take so long to get going. The flagship will get at least a few missiles off before the Vulcans warm up. If they hit your weapons, you're fucked. 4 Flak I is 12 shots in 10 seconds for the same amount of power. Dual Vulcans is 18 shots in ten seconds, but only after a 30sec warmup without the weapons being hit.
See, I don't really use mind control for boarding. I'll usually use it before big volleys on the pilot, since that usually completely kills their evasion, or at least halves it. With this build, assuming you're playing on easy, it'd guarantee 12 hits per volley, which would pretty much wipe their shields, or any other system you cared to target.
gotta give the Rebellion some flack for defecting from the Federation

Only if you also have the defences to go with the Vulcans. Stealth Weapons + Level 3 Stealth is far better than a second auto-reloader.
