Listening to PJ Harvey automatically makes someone cooler haha. She is one of those artists that other musicians have a huge amount of respect and reverence for. One of the most important musical artists of the last 30 years, for real.
I saw her last month in Portland. 75 percent of her set was the new album I hadn't heard. Her artistry, the intention in the way she presented it, and her band were stunning. One of the shows of all time. Horses in My Dreams live had me sobbing.
Never thought I would see you react to PJ Harvey. This is a great album, but her greatest is "To Bring You My Love." Swampy creepy blues rock. Absolute classic, would love to see you do that one next.
Ok, I was angry and sad, but now I saw that you posted a reaction to my only favorite album, yesterday I was thinking about commenting for you to react, thank you for indirectly cheering me up
I'm a HUGE fan of Miss Harvey. Saw her her live at the Roxy in London when she released Let England Shake. She was fantastic. I recommend that album, and Is This Desire.
This is one her albums I don't return to very often, despite some great tracks. The albums I always go back to are To Bring You My Love, Is This Desire?, White Chalk, Rid of Me and Let England Shake. What's great about her is how different each album is while still being distinctly, obviously her. She's also interesting in being the rare singer/songwriter type of artist who is obsessive about the sound of her work rather than just leaving it as an afterthought for a producer to fix.
Let England Shake may be her best so far, and i have a particular fondness for Is This Desire? She puts on an amazing show, if you ever get the chance.
Love this album. Was under appreciated for a while, but a classic of that era. Very romantic in a stark, post-punk way. “You Say Something” is my fave; doesn’t matter what was said, or it will remain private, but the feeling colors her memory forever.
love your videos man a few recommendations: songs - Adrianne Lenker (folk, singer-songwriter) Ghosts of the Great Highway - Sun Kil Moon (folk rock, singer-songwriter, alt-country) SMILE :D - Porter Robinson (pop-punk, pop, electronic) Process - Sampha (experimental r&b, great production) Hypochondriac - Brakence (very experimental emo rap, glitch pop) Reading Writing And Arithmetic - The Sundays (the smiths ish, with beautiful female vocals)
A true artist - she does it because her entire being compels her to, zero interest in fame or money - & the most incredible back story you'll ever find.
What’s fascinating with Polly Jean Harvey, is that she’s constantly reinventing herself, so very much like Björk each album is really different from the others, but only with Polly it also goes to how she uses her voice, she has like 1000 different ways of using her voice and its quite incredible when you navigate her whole discography I hope you do, goes its really rewarding (My top artists of all time is Bjork/Radiohead and PJ Harvey btw, she’s that good)
I love PJ so much. I think Horses In My Dreams might be the most beautiful song ever written, there’s a version by Piers Faccini that’s equally as phenomenal as this one
PJ Harvey is one of my favorite artists ever... but this is the only album of hers that is hard for me to finish. White Chalk, Is This Desire? and TBYML will always be my personal favs
U should SOOO listen to “is this desire” and “to bring you my love” imo those two and the stories one are a golden trio that show the prime of pj harvey
my fav pj harvey for sure is this album. i listened to her before this release, but it kinda was what was missing somewhat in the releases before it. Her last enjoyable album for me was Uh Huh Her... 20 years ago unfortunately.
PJH is the only artist fof which i cant pick a favourite album… there’s like 5 favourites To Bring You My Love Is This Desire Stories White Chalk Let England Shake
Some recs: LITTLE BUSTERS and Happy Bivouac by The Pillows (they are both top tier j-rock/grunge albums) I recommend starting with LITTLE BUSTERS though. HIGHVISION and Three Out Change by Supercar (both are great j-rock albums. HIGHVISION is indietronica, and Three Out Change is shoegaze) Everything Will Be Alright In The End by Weezer (great comeback album for weezer with some of their best songs to date)
Let England Shake is another great album by her. Pleased you're doing more female singer-songwriter reactions these days, don't forget to go back to the amazing Kate Bush though, The Dreaming will be like nothing you have heard before!
hey man, really love your vids, cool you did pj harvey on this one! i have one rec to you, just one, please react to Almendra´s debut album Almendra, it is an argentinian album and i thought you would love it!.
Would you consider listening to Nero’s Day at Disney Land/Lauren Bousfield? Idk if you’ll like them but Pewdiepie used to have one of their songs as his outro
love this album, but it is kinda too laid-back for me compared to the rest of her discography, my faves from her are the more unhinged ones like to bring you my love, rid of me and is this desire? let england shake and white chalk are pretty goated too, you should react to her whole discography!!
Listening to PJ Harvey automatically makes someone cooler haha. She is one of those artists that other musicians have a huge amount of respect and reverence for. One of the most important musical artists of the last 30 years, for real.

A true artist - she does it because her entire being compels her to, zero interest in fame or money - & the most incredible back story you'll ever find.
I can't remember which album it's on, but her song"The Dancer" is one you will love.
