Yeah Herbert didn't get a fair chance with a good head coach or a good o-line his first year and set all kinds of rookie records. Sorry but Sam needs everything to be perfect and have a fair chance just to be ok
I dont understand how they expect Wilson to be any better on this team next year. Could've used this pick this year to help Sam and truly been able to evaluate him
Where's this same optimism for dwayne haskins and other highly touted first round qbs that played for bad teams and organizations? Sam darnold will be the same player mark my words. Carolina will remain mediocre 5-12 or 4-13.
Haskins messed it up for his self off the field. They were talking about getting him in a new situation after he got benched last year then he had his off the field issues.
The Jets won the trade because they’re going to have Wilson on a rookie deal for 4 more years instead of having to pay Darnold who didn’t play well. They can use that savings to bring in more players. Everybody keeps saying Darnold has all this talent but I haven’t seen the guy complete a pass longer than 15 yards in the air in the last 3 years. He can move around a little bit but mostly he just looked scared. I know the guy is only 23 but after 3 years you should see some flashes of greatness. I didn’t see any...
Sorry guys, I have watched every Jets game since he came into the league. He is an awful decision maker, has bad feet, forces throws, has bad hands, low completion pct., can not read defenses to save his life, is scared in the red zone, throws into triple coverage, turns it over consistently, doesn't have an exceptionally strong arm, is inaccurate on the deep ball....same knows on him at USC, and tell me, what USC QB has gone on to do great thing? Carson Palmer was average, and he is the best there ever was. Three years is a large enough sample size to say, hey, this guy is a weapon as a QB....what these guys are not saying: does he make those around him better? The answer is a resounding no. A great QB makes plays despite the coaches, they have that aura. Sam does not. Hate to say it, he plays dumb. Enough of the Tannehill comparisons. For as many Tannehills there are, there are 99 pct. QBs who stay awful, and guys- Tannehill wasnt great last year, did you see the playoff disaster? He's average at best, everyone makes him out to be Aaron Rogers...he is average-- so you leave Gase and you become average. Sam, Godspeed, I wish him all the best, lots of wine, women and song.....but he isn't a great QB and he will never be.
I agree with everything you said as a fellow jet fan. However, I'm gonna wait this upcoming season before I will agree Sam will never be a great quarterback because now that he is in a decent position on Carolina and if he sucks this year I fully believe then he won't have a successful QB career
It would be a true anomaly for Sam Darnold to pull of anything this season that would warrant signing him to a long term deal, so Jets got 3 picks rather than having the no. 3 overall pick be backup all season then letting him go for nothing.
It hard to argue one team lost. The Jets no longer have Gase so whatever qb they draft wint have to suffer thru him. On top of the picks they've garnered. And the Panthers get a young, good, Qb. Tho he has baggage, he's still undeveloped. So both have the tools for success, it's up to them to capitalize.
The issue with me as a Carolina fan isn't necessarily a matter of trusting Darnold's ability to play as opposed to Rhule's constant lying. I simply don't trust that guy to give Darnold the kind of support all the talking heads say he's going to get. CAR might have a better roster, but i don't have the faith to believe Rhule is that much of an upgrade as a coach.
It was pretty much a no risk trade though. If he ends up sucking then all we lost were a few low value draft picks. It also allowed us to draft the overall 8th best pick instead of using the 8th to pick an average qb. Overall it allowed Panthers to have one of the most solid drafts out of all teams.
Yep he went into a great situation but the jets did have sam for 3 years there could be a possibility that he isnt good Qb. Nobody knows sam more than the jets.
@@christophercluster728 pretty sure he learn a lot while watching brees... I like to take the risk with a qb that actually showed us flashes of greatness lol
Winston Had A Championship Roster (Hella Pro Bowlers) Around Him & A Decent Coach In Bruce Arians... Darnold Had The Worst Coach, Worst OLine & Worst Weapons in The League
@@shalomkadosh4691 but did he throw 30 in one season? Compared to Winston Darnold had zero weapons , a worse offensive line and was just simply in a worse position, Darnold however has show flashes of hey if my team around me didn’t suck so much maybe we could have a good season
As a Jets fan I'm not surprised.Because the three seasons we had Sam Donald as Jets quarterback was a disappointment. And now we can move forward to drafting Zack Wilson from the University of BYU as the next Jets starting quarterback. Come April 29th.
Why does everyone bring up Tannehill? 2018 Tannehill was so much better in less games than 2020 Darnold in nearly every category. He won 7 games compared to Darnold's two, with nearly identically talented roster. He threw 9 unlucky interceptions compared to Darnold's 11 careless, Jameis Winston like turnovers. Tannehill's only problem was that he got hurt way too often. Darnold's problem is that he is way too careless with the ball.
The jets should be a prime example of why you compete to seasons end and never intentionally tank. Great football karma still landed them a franchise qb cuz they didn’t sell the season and stole a couple wins. Hopefully it can work out for them long term cuz they got my respect
It was a a horrible and unprofessional interview. Or ably should have been scrutinized even more at the time. That man looked like he was on something.
We also have seen Sam Darnold do nothing but turn the ball over at a ridiculous amount going back to college. He had more turnovers than games played in college and got drafted as a top 5 pick because of 1 game when he beat Penn State in the bowl game. Darnold is a below average starting QB much like Tannehill. Gase sucks way worse than Darnold but that’s a low bar to set. Jets won this trade.... for now. They will still do Jets things and mess it up royally somehow, they always do.
Why so much love and sympathy for Sam Darnold and his horrible situation but hate and disrespect for Jamesis Wilson who had the same situation? Seems like he had a new coach every year

Great point.
Gotta love it how Stephen A. says it first as a regular guy then says like a preacher at the pulpit a moment later.
Both teams won, Carolina looks better right now. Max is right about the draft picks. It’s up to the Jets to figure it all out.
Sam Darnold definitely wouldn’t be a top 3 pick in this draft.
Wouldn't be a 1st round pick
Let’s be honest.... would he even get drafted
SAS said Gase was ZOOTED 🤣🤣🤣
Hope he gets fresh start, he was throwing in to a team that was not built for rookie qb
Why i thought that was a older Zion
He do look like he can b his father
Lol Sam Darnold will not be any better than Teddy Bridgewater...that trade was a waste! 🤣
It was pretty much a no risk trade though. If he ends up sucking then all we lost were a few low value draft picks. It also allowed us to draft the overall 8th best pick instead of using the 8th to pick an average qb. Overall it allowed Panthers to have one of the most solid drafts out of all teams.
I'm with Max.
I think people forget the year prior to Ryan Tannehill being hurt he had BACK TO BACK 4,000 yard seasons. Adam Gase is just a trash play-caller.
Yep he went into a great situation but the jets did have sam for 3 years there could be a possibility that he isnt good Qb. Nobody knows sam more than the jets.
Booger Mcfarland talking nonsense. Have never seen Darnold make any plays other than a Pick 6 for the opposing teams
Keep pounding 😎
Kinda crazy how Darnold gets a second starting spot before Winston
I mean did Darnold throw 30 interceptions
@@christophercluster728 pretty sure he learn a lot while watching brees... I like to take the risk with a qb that actually showed us flashes of greatness lol
@@christophercluster728 Darnold has more int than games played lol you have no idea what you’re talking about
Winston Had A Championship Roster (Hella Pro Bowlers) Around Him & A Decent Coach In Bruce Arians...
6:00 Max is literally twitching, he looks like he bout to tare somebody head off 💀
I agree with both arguments
when did ESPN hire Zion Williamson as a NFL analyst
Adam Gase’s press conference will live in Stephen A head rent free. 😂😂😂
It was a a horrible and unprofessional interview. Or ably should have been scrutinized even more at the time. That man looked like he was on something.
I can never listen to Steven A. long enough for him to get to his point. Does he ever?
Seems like he had a new coach every year
I think they both got what they wanted in the trade and that’s a W in my book and a W for the NFL.
Max always talking about Zack Wilson lol
Teddy Bridgewater needs to go back to the Saints
