Def a MUST Visit in San Diego!
We stayed at the Del 2 weeks ago. Unbelievable trip!! We ate at the Taco Shack, Bluewater grill, Mootime Creamery, Miguel's and ENO pizza. Saw Chris Stapleton in Chula Vista and then headed up to La Jolla for a couple of nights, did the Kayak tour, ate at Duke's, drinks at George's by the Cove, Surf Rider and an Italian place I can't remember the name. Amazing vacation! We've been to SD dozens of times and every time we go we seek out new places to stay and eat. We still haven't run out of new things to try. Our favorite place in the world! Back at home in the Az heat. Ugh!

After living in San Diego for so many years, we only made it over to Coronado just a couple of times. Great video and great catch on the top gun location at the Naval base!

She owns a home ,with her family, in Coranado .When I lived in San Diego in 1991,I used to go to Coranado with a friend and walk on the beach ,go to the Del, and eat at a Chinese restaurant .It is one of the most beautiful places in San Diego!

Great video Jay! The Ferry is such a really good and affordable option for transit over to Coronado. Beautiful Bay views and no hassling with parking especially during the summer peak tourist season. Tartine is one of my favorite restaurants over there.

Great video, as usual! Thanks! Coronado is where I entered this world! We moved when I was little, so I don't really remember much. Stopped by years ago while in SD. Nice to see an updated view of my birthplace! My dad was a Navy pilot there. Cool to see the base too. I need to get back!

Coronado is one of my absolute fav places in San Diego. Hung out at the beaches there growing up. Had my HS Prom @Hotel Del which was totally EPIC. Tacos look delish!😃 Never took the Ferry bcuz motion sickness. I don’t drink, but pretty cool happy hour spot for apps.😄 Nice sweatshirt. Enjoyed it.🥰 Ty for sharing some new places to checkout whenever I go back in the future whenever that is.😍

Those condo high rises South of Hotel Del are the Coronado Shores which are very high end were built in the 60s and have penthouses and large condos where many celebrities live and have lived. Orville Redenbacher lived there.

Man I am so home sick! Had my prom at hotel Del ( our ole stomping grounds) We use to take our cars across the ferry when we were little, then they put the bridge in. Been in So. Or. for 31 years , no regrets, but your videos make me tear up a little. Happy Grandma in Oregon but forever a Cali beach baby.

Thank you for this, Jay! I have 1 day reserved for my Coronado Island self tour in August. I like craft microbrews & photography, so hope to take in Coronado Brewing Company & get some good SD pics from the water. One question, can my Pronto Card be used for the ferry?
perfect place to take photos! As for pronto card, you cannot. You have to purchase a ferry ticket at the pier ticket office since the ferry is ran by flagship and not mts

yeah they built a set that actually replicates a bar that is within that actual base. Im sure that set was torn down but the other bar exists!

Coronado is a city that's great as a kid, boring as a 20-30 something, and great as a 40+ community. If you are there in the winter, be accustomed to businesses closing at 7PM

Is coronado walkable? Or do we need to rent a car or bike to get to the beachs and hotel after we arrive on the ferry?
Its honestly pretty far to hotel del from the ferry. I uber’d the last time i went haha
You show the tourists spots, how about showing some local places to eat in Coronado. Chez Loma, Crown Bistro, Marriott, etc.
Most of the local spots went out of business or went down in quality. Maybe Little Franchise is still good, but the Rhinoceros was better. Oh. I forgot about Miguel's...that place is great for a happy hour for their salsa and cheese sauce
Nice video Jay. We stayed at the Del last summer and there was a lot of remodeling going on. Beautiful hotel with so much history. The bar at Serea was nice! Coronado was hit or miss, some cool businesses and good service, others not so much. Will likely not be back for those and other reasons.

yes but expensive. there is plenty of street parking but weekends are tough.
