It's an SOC 2 band and quite a nice brush. This is the first badger brush I owned and I still have kept to this day. It punches way above its weight class
I have both the two band finest and the mistura. Both came in the same box as yours, but mine have the resin handles. Also bought the SOC boar. Love each one, but if I could choose only one it would be the Mistura. I love it so much that a wooden handled version is my next purchase.
Good deal. Paid for a boar and got a great looking 2-band badger. 😎 It could be badger hair exclusively, or a Mixturado. You have to carefully go through the knot with a magnifier in order to identify the hair type. It is not possible to make a serious judgement just by looking at the video.
Got mine from Amazon as well and recieved the ash wood handle instead of the cherry handle. Packaging says cherry wood. Seems like Semogue is having quality control issues especially with this new box packaging
It looks like all Badger, you got a more expensive brush, I have the SOC Boar brush it's a great brush, I prefer Boar but my SOC has no backbone at all, break this brush in Chris I bet you will love it.
@@IAMCDB the the band badger looks like the one you have. Not shure it is the same. But if it does the job... I've paid mine 72 euro it's about 63 dollar give or take. I think it was a bargain at 30 dollars. Thx for the great videos Chris appreciate it. Have great day. Grts David
Boy, that's strange. Unfortunately I don't have a Semogue all-badger brush to compare yours to. But your knot looks like my Semogue boar-badger did before I broke it in. Now my knot is wider. But the color distribution and texture look very similar to yours. I don't have a cherry handle. I got the Taj resin handle. I love this brush so much that I went out and got a dscosmetics boar-dger brush with a 26mm knot. For me the boar-dgers combine the best of boar and badger. If that's what you've got and you are for keeping it, I can't say you're making a mistake, even given your preference for synthetics. I think it good to have one of these hybrids in your rotation.
You may be right. Mine doesn't shred at all. Otherwise I would know if you could tell from loosened bristles. Anyway, glad to see you enjoy a natural hair brush.
@@IAMCDB If it WAS a boar-ger, that's just what it would be like for a few uses. I have 2 of them, the 2nd a 26mm brush from dscosmetics. Each took around a week to break in. Since then they've been a joy to use.
It looks like the badger boar mix. TBH I just compared to the pictures on WCS. I sometimes hold back from ordering from Amazon because I've worked there before and seen how they store items. Most likely brushes get stored in these carton type drawers were items are mushed and stuffed together. The pickers especially the temporary workers well send out something questionable because of the time constraints they are held to.
While the bands on my SOC Owners Club badger is more pronounced, this looks of a kind. What is the loft of the knot? I paid twice that price for mine shipped from Portugal. Ebay, IIRC. It has no scritch. It lathers like a champion, and has respectable backbone, and IMO ideal splay. I love this brush for face lathering. It is a luxury item at a bargain price. Most people prefer Omega boar brushes to Semogue boar brushes. IIRC, tissue paper in a white box is what mine came in. Not the best presentation, IMO.
I think this is the "shave God's" way of telling you you need to get back to using a badger lol. I own both styles of brushes and I actually think that's the mistura. both brushes are made using two band but you can see the blonde bristles down low those are the boar bristles. It looks to me in the video that there's bristles that run the entire length of the loft that are completely blonde, if that is so it is definitely the badger/boar combo the word Mistura simply means "mixed".
Hahaha, that's funny Tobin. I tried to go back but I kept only one. I kept one vintage badger that was gifted to me and I absolutely love it. I gave this one away and it turned out being the finest badger.
I believe it's a two band badger; see portuguesefactory.com/en/shaving-brushes/73-semogue-owners-club-soc-shaving-brush-cherry-wood-badger-edition-brush-stand-included-5608030001032.html

Its a two band finest. Did you order from Semogue through Amazon ? If not it might be a Chinese knockoff. Two Band Finest are my favorite Badger knots.
At 1:42, that SKU of X000PIGS2R doens't match up to the two that look like it on West Coast Shaving's site, and a search of the net doesn't find that SKU at all.
It looks like there's another label under this one. I can't pull the top one off as it also pulling the bottom label off. I can see through it a little and it looks like it says badger on it.
Looks like the 2 band. I have both the badger and boar owners club and the badger is the better of the two imo. The boar, while awesome in its own way is a bit of a lather hog.
I'm guessing you ordered from a 3rd party seller on Amazon. It looks like quite a few of the known shaving retailers are Amazon 3rd party resellers. Did you order from one of them or another one? Agreed. I found another label under the one on the bottom of the box. I can see through it enough that it says badger. It's the two band badger.
I dont know what it is either but it looks like a good one. Only badger and synthetic in my collection. Hey, good to see the clock running.
