      The final nail. Dang I sat here for the last 8 minutes or so reading your comment. I think antipathy is right on. A lot of people would use hatred or other words, but antipathy puts the meaning in there nice and snug I think. Thanks watching!

      @@MrIncrediible1 Thanks. Unfortunately, having gone through the song’s situation has given me an up-close perspective, and not one that I would want anyone else to experience.
      I try to explain it this way- if emotion is a coin, and love and hate are opposite sides, what’s left when the coin has been taken away…?

    I finally have come to the conclusion that Chris has the talent/ability to sing a song and make it sound like he’s lived it. It’s just one of his many talents. He knows how to sing a song with all of its emotions. The first time I heard this song, I had to go back I listen to it several times just to get the full meaning. Right off the bat he says we go to separate rooms, we live our separate lives the only time we talk is when the monthly bills are due. Sadly, I’ve lived that life! Damn… Dot

  • @Melly01
    @Melly01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    You can't be wrong in how a song makes you feel. It makes you feel how you feel. That's what makes music so beautiful, it hits people differently where they are in a given moment of their own life. But I agree with your second assessment. For me this song is about the exhaustion that happens when you're just done. You're not mad, you're just tired and can't do it anymore, there's no reviving whatever feelings you had. But you don't have enough of anything left to give, not to anyone else or yourself. Numb inside. Yep. Hits home. Been there, done that. His voice just pours all of that out into your heart and makes you feel not so alone with the depth of the death of emotion. And the reason I watch reactions is because it IS the closest I'll get to experiencing it again for the first time. Whether it's someone seeing something outside of the genre they normally listen to or watching younger people reacting to the classic rock I grew up on or the fun of the dance music of the 80s. It makes me happy to see others also enjoy what I enjoy. And then I come back to see what else my favorite reactors have found and get to see something new for myself. Gotta say, I probably spend an unhealthy amount of time doing this, but it helps me shut off my "work brain" and get in touch with my "not thinking about work," self. Great reaction - loved watching you discover this and hearing the nuances you called out!
    You might like Brooks and Dunn, "Believe," it's pretty powerful.

    • @MrIncrediible1
      @MrIncrediible1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching! I'll add Brooks and Dunn to the list. I've watched some videos and live streamers for the last couple years. Kind of what put me on the other side of it is that I moved across the country and don't really know anyone here. So, at first I started live streaming just to kind of connect with people. And then I was like I'm going to start filming whatever I could think of and just see if anyone would like to watch it. It's been a relief that people like watching music reactions, so I know that there's at least other people I can interact with more than people at work and my wife. lol

    In the introvert world we call that "the door slam" . Yes you get to a top point where you're done. It takes a lot to get there. This is where people get the whole crappy "my mom warned me to watch out for the quiet ones" line. This is amazing as always. He's one of very few if not the only one that sounds better live.

    Relationship exhaustion...good description. I would just say...end of his rope. Tried to work things out BUT he is serving notice...he has had enough. Doesnt necessarily mean that the future wont allow things to change but he is serving notice that as of right now and the place he is at...he is done. Possibly an earlier relationship for Chris personally or he and his wife ultimately resolved things and WORKED to get things back right between them. EITHER WAY...a very powerful song in all regards. One of my fav live performances by Chris. I've had it on my active playlist for years now. Nice reaction. Ty

Often, people raised around toxic narcissists for example, lack self-esteem and healthy relationship skills. When you know better, you do better.
