Excellent content. Nice set of tools that should last a lifetime. Sometime it might be interesting to do a short bit on sharpening and burnishing cabinet scrapers.
Thanks for sharing! A very high quality vodeo, as always. I use a round file for chain saw sharpening for my string grooves. They come in few different sizes.
Hello Richard, nice informative video, good selection of tools. It doesn't need many tools at all to make a nice bow, Oh.... You misted out, years and years of practice. Lol Take care and stay safe.
Thanks, glad you like it, you will probably like our bow making website www.howtomakealongbow.co.uk Any size vice is fine for the kind of work as shown in the thunbnail, it depends if you are buying precut staves or intend to deal with logs or unsawn planks.
My first job with a cabinet maker was to make 2 planes out of maple. Talk about old school... that guy was willing to pay me 1.65 an hour (yes, it was 1969) for 3 days just to find out if I had patience, and could follow basic instructions.

Yes, I use one to file smooth, not great for cutting
I really enjoyed that. I appreciate old woodworking tools as much as a good selfbow. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it

Your rasp on the modern float is like a dreadnought file used for aluminium and other soft metals.
Indeed it does
This is an excellent video to obtain my starting point.
What sort and size of vice do you recommend for one's workbench?

I use a tile saw to cut my nocks, it's a good alternative if you can't find a skinny enough rat tail rasp
nice one

How do you sharpen the cabinet scraper?
I did show this in one of my videos, but, I cant remember which one! I use a bench grinder.
I much prefer the wooden spokeshaves, the metal ones always feel clumsy to me, they cut alright but don’t feel good.
Everyone likes wood
