Glazers didn't want to buy Haland because they thought he wasn't worth the price, where is he now? Hojlund is 3 years younger than Haland and if we miss him he has potential to become 90-100m in couple years time so I assume 60-70m seem perfect for him. The issue I have with him is he's not as clinical as I'd love him to be maybe also he doesn't make up his mind very quickly around opposition box..he's got the strengths,his hold up play is good (a little to reliant on that) but his link up play is not top tier mainly because he takes a little too long to make his mind up on where to pass the ball,he needs to start looking up a little bit more to find the right passes very quickly especially if he'd be playing in the epl

If Halaand was £50 mil , you can’t tell me Hojland is worth anything more than 30mil .. what are Atalanta playing at smh.. I’m fairly certain Halaand scored more goals in 2 weeks than this kid did all of last season .. having said that, this kid definitely has potential to become top class in a few years
You can’t forget his buyout clause though which ends up being part of the transfer fee. It was like 170mil + the 50 mil. However, I do agree 80mil is way overpriced. In todays age, I feel like youth is an added value. Hojlund is only 20 and I think that is a huge asset. I would honestly go 50 even 55 for the kid. He is unproven, but Ten Hag seems to know how to get the best out of players so if he wants him, I trust it.
Transfers fees are not decided like that. It is decided based on many factors such as length of contracting remaining, how badly the selling club needs to sell, how badly the buying club needs to buy, how badly the player wants to move/stay.
If a club really really wants a player in a particular position and the club they are buying from is not desperate for money + the player has many years left on his contract, the price will be very high -- often intentionally so that other clubs are warded off.

City officially paid €60mins (£55) for Halaand .. he had a £55mil release clause at Dortmund which was put in place by Raoila so that Halaand has an easier time leaving Dortmund. I do agree if Dortmund didn’t have such a low release clause, then the transfer fee may have been closer to 170-200mil.
@@dibyajyotilahiri2667 yes but Atalanta are definitely taking the piss by asking for 85mil. He’s a young unproven striker who was playing in Austria the season before he joined them. He was good last season coming off the bench and starting games only when Zapata wasn’t available due to injuries.
Atalanta are clearly trying to rob us again like they did with Amad Diallo who we paid close to 40million for.
I’m fairly certain that for any other team, for example Aston Villa or West Ham, Atalanta would have asked for half of that fee.
Villa are getting Moussa Diaby for £30-35mil. Imagine he went in for him, I’m sure Leverkusen would’ve said £90-100mil minimum.

Plus if they keep him and he’s unhappy/has a shit season - they may not even get 20mil next summer.
I remember when Belotti had his breakout season for Torino, they were asking for over 80mil for him. He stayed for a couple of years and ended up leaving for free.

He has a good nose for finding the keeper.
His foot/ball work is very good but he is not the most clinical finisher like Drogba, Suarez, Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Crespo, etc you'd want to bank on when you need a crucial goal.

Over his career, Weghorst actually has a slightly better goals per game ratio and also, of course, he's actually _scored goals_ since he's older. Weghorst has been terrible but he's actually a good player I think if he plays in the hole between midfield and attack, he seems hard working and plays well, it's just he's meant to be a striker, yet never scores.

Weghorst has scored more goals per game over his career - yes he's a lot older than Hojlund, but he's also scored far more goals, so he has actually proven himself... despite how bad he might have been for us. Is Weghorst worth £60 Million or whatever it would be adjusted for, to take his age into account? Of course he isn't. So why is Hojlund? He's worth about a quarter of the asking price. I'd say around £20 Million. For god's sake he only scored 9 goals last season.

He's not worth 85 mill. I'm not sure, with FFP, whether Utd should even pay half that for him. He looks good in highlight vids, but if you watch individual game vids he's very ordinary. Bad first touch and doesn't score many goals. His one virtue is that he seems to know when to get to the 6-yard box, which Utd do need. So many goals have gone begging that way. But surely Goncalo Ramos is a far far better striker.
