Awesome to see this thing coming together dude ;) I ended up just cleaning out my oil cooler out with some brake cleaner but now I'm thinking that I should have sucked it up and bought a new one. Looks like I'm gonna be ordering one from edge. I'm really hoping I didn't do any damage to my engine so far lol 😅
i cleaned mine out also and reused, i doubt any metal gets in there the oil filter traps it from getting in there. i definitely had metal on the filter :)
@@SpoolingUpPerformance the top two holes are the same thread as transmission bolts but the two holes below are what I cannot figure out. Well at least I just got to the part where I'm needing the motor on the stand to break it down so Ill have some time to figure it out.
Noice... I have an 06 BCM speed6 and I just finished cleaning the valves today. Waiting for speed pef6rmanc3 to send back my injectors cleaned with new seals then I’m putting her all back together. Thinking about doing an occ while I have her all apart. EGR delete would also be ideal however I live in philly and it’s my daily so I have to worry about passing emissions still so that kinda sucks. Anyways, the build seems to be coming along great. I’m looking forward to seeing her running and gapping some subbies and evo’s.
I wish you the best on your car! OCC is almost a must for me personally. It will only help things out. Thanks for the kind words we can’t wait to see it running either
I’m thinking giving my speed6 engine a rebuild. It’s bone stock and seems like the rings are going out and could use new timing components. I don’t want to do a full build on it just bc I plan to sell the car since the body is pretty crappy but is there anything you’d recommend doing if decide to pull the car apart besides what I might do?
Dear sweet 9 lb 7 oz. baby Jesus floating down the river in a beech- bark canoe....I am so pumped to see this content Alex! That thang is gonna fkn scream 👊🤘
Looking fwd to seeing you swap the bearing caps on the TC. Also , you can do the video with how to seal the righthand halfshaft on the TC. Thanks for the content!
@@ChrisGarage I know , no sealant, but there are 2 seals there. They seems to be a pain to get to sit right. Hence most speed 6 have a leaky TC. Peace!
Is this a 2.3 and if so I’ve been watching sloazz6 and idk if he has the 2.5 and I’ve been compiling a list of parts and no idea if it is one and if so are internals interchangeable so I could use this build list or do I need to scrap and find a new list of internals
How much did the cost average out to after all the parts and everything to assemble and rebuild your engine? I'm planning to try and pick up a speed6, but its high mileage so I was thinking of rebuild/building on it
What's the average cost on your builds of the engine? I want to pick up a speed6, but it has 230,000miles so I want a idea of what a rebuild would cost me if it happens to die on me.
Depending on the conditions. I’ve heard anywhere from 800-900. But the bore size also matters too. If you’re stock bore your better off because of the cylinder thickness. When you go to 88mm bore the obviously takes some of that thickness away but people have still made big power on stock sleeves . As far as reliability it depends on how the car is treated , track vs street use and so on. Just a lot of different factors.
Any machine shop should have a hot tank to clean all the blocks that come in! I mean how do you think they get all the metal shavings out of blocks and heads that blow up and need to be machined...
Agreed on what your saying but what I’m saying also is that not everyone has access to a hot tank. Can it be cleaned with brake clean yes . But for piece of mind when your engine got smoked I’d rather fork out $200 rather than risk it. I cleaned this one in a parts cleaner with fresh fluid and I still don’t trust it lol. I get where your coming from none the less !
Actually Pablo is NO dummy. Even with a hot tank & ultra sonic tank I would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER take the chance on getting all the metal out that you really can't even see to verify for $200 when you are probably talking $3000+ worth of parts & machine work
I’ve seen plenty of these little engines completely dominate v8s when racing. So That can be a bit of a bold statement. Watch import vs domestic and watch some of these “little engines” completely freight train v8s. I love v8s as well don’t get me wrong but I can tell you that the cost is way more on those when building.
Yes very true , like a SBE build with a giant China whirly boi slapped on with some added fuel . Trust me we get down with v8 stuff . We have a c6 vette on the channel , and I had a 1LE camaro last year

I bet you didn’t ruin it, it can be “cleaned” but what I was getting at is that it’s better to replace if your unsure if it’s clean .

How’s the vibration without the balance shaft. Rotating assembly balanced?
Any chance you can post up the numbers that are on the pistons
Can you use Manley H-beam con rods with Wiseco forged piston heads?
This time is gonna be awesome 👌,this motor is reliable, built by sp63!watching and learning 😎
Alex, where did you get the bolts from to mount the engine to the stand?
I just matched the hole and just got some from work
