My first thought exactly. SAS are the UK’s top notch special forces. I fully respect our US marines and appreciate them however, the comparison is like apples to oranges. Now do this with Navy SEALs or Delta force and we would have an actual comparison. Either way, God Bless America and her allies 🫡 🇺🇸🤝🇬🇧
Not even with SEALs. Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU) and 1st SFOD-D would give SAS / SBS a run for their money, especially with the assets made available to US forces but SEALs are a tier 2 organisation that recruits mostly from navy basic training candidates, once they've passed green team they're more on par with UKSF. On another note, 'US Marine' just means a member of the USMC. That could be anything from cooks to Force Recon marines. And the USMC fights in a completely different way, USMC have their own land, sea and air assets that they can make use of on a battlefield, they are trained to a standard that can rely on those assets. SOF (Of any country but more so non-US countries) need to rely more on their own abilities and gear. The USMC is a brilliant organisation that is an incredibly effective warfighting machine, alongside the USN, USA, USAF but they are not truly comparable to SAS like this.

@@alexzoilist9584 that’s the thing. The navy used to be part. Of the army. If you’re talking about the navy alone then you say navy. If you’re talking about the army you say army. If you talk to marines about the entire military and say army? Yeah.
@@thedonkey6704 The navy was never part of the french army. The only argument you could ever make for a navy being part of the army is going back to Roman times where legionaries were in the army but could be stationed on boats. It’s worth noting that US Marines aren’t actually special forces or anything, they’re basically just the army but more equipped to fight in places like the Pacific Ocean
@@Ouroboros63 they aren’t elite actually, kind of a misconception perpetrated by the different equipment fielded. While there are special units inside the marine corps, there is nothing inherently special about them besides their capabilities amphibiously. This is especially apparent given the fact that historically, the army and marines will fill each other roles such as D-day being carried out by the army and land based invasion and occupation in the Middle East being heavily involved with marines.
Different missions. The Marines are more like shock troops. The Army besides being a massive fighting forces, is also required to maintain and hold territory. Different jobs, different skills.
I was imagining this after the SAS video!! This is awesome! Side note for those who don't know: The United States Marine Corps is not a special forces unit, but rather a branch of the 6 armed forces (USMC, USA, USAF, USSP, USN, USCG). Mr. Fosh, I have recently come across a very silly thing that you could do. It involves the Tower Bridge in London. Since I do not live in London, I did some research for this. Apparently, the world record for the number of times the Tower Bridge has been opened in one day was 64 times. All you need to open the Tower Bridge is to email them at least 24 hours before and they are legally obliged to open it for you, as long as you have a mast of 30ft., or 9 m. It takes approximately five minutes for the Tower Bridge to open and close, and if you were to have perhaps a five-ten minute break in between each one, it would be entirely feasible for this to happen. Long live the Silly Billy King!

I've heard that saying many times before, and the sentiment is nice but it's a bit dumb. There has to be a way to easily state whether or not someone is still active duty or not, and "ex-marine" is just the easiest way to say it.
Inactive Marine, former Marine, retired Marine are all acceptable. Retire for those that did at least 20 years. Former (shortened form of "formally active Marine" ) They have earned their right to be called a Marine forever and always. There is a reason they are the only branch in the USA (and UK IIRC) that meet or exceed their quota of recruits.
Commenting at like 0:30 here. Marines are just marines. Well lemme rephrase that. Marines are our traditional forces. Grunts if you will like 11B's. The SAS are a special forces/operations teams that typically deal with terrorism and high profile threats. Our Marines are good butt there's a world of difference between gear and tactics. Still I look forward to seeing this play out. There nco will definitely be happy if they win. The Marines nco.
I served in the US Marines, and we don't use terms like 11B, that's army. Our infantry is 0311 Rifleman, 0331 Machine gunner, 0341 Mortarman (my MOS), and 0351 Assaultman.

Not to be that guy, but the US Marines is just a branch of the US military, they're regular soldiers, just on boats (at least they're supposed to). The SAS are a special force, with less than a 100 people in total, picked from the best people they do find in the british military. Comparing the two is them doesn't make any sense if you know what you're talking about, they're not at all at the same level. A logical comparaison would be the SAS vs the Navy Seals (if you want to stay with the US marines), considering they're both special forces.
The Navy seals aren't in the marine corps they are under the US navy if you want to stick with the Marines, you need someone from MARSOC like the RAIDERS
Yea the difference is apparent when the SAS start talking about controlling Max's movements with their arm, haha. It’s widely accepted that the SAS is the best special forces in the world followed by the navy seals of the US. But the US and UK train together, truly special friendship. Brothers from across the pond.
The best part of this is that the marines are technically not a special force and they still went head to head against a special force

4:51 Preston getting an umbrella is so Taskmaster coded I love it

How to piss off a Marine:
Insinuate he's in the Army.
One time at paintball there was an infantry reserves lieutenant playing on our team. Most of the day he held back and let everybody just do their thing. Our win-loss record was pretty bad. Then he says to us, “would you like to win one for a change?”
We agree, and then he draws a little map in the dirt and gives us his strategy for how the other team was probably going to play it, where we should hide, when we should shoot, etc.
The game was over in less than five minutes, and honestly the games we lost were actually more fun because they lasted longer! 😂
He made you a terrain model and ran a ROC walk. That’s the basics of how it’s done. Amazing how much it can help.
Infantry VS SF is a really funny argument
True true, but in fairness to Max. His American friend said the "US Marines" would beat the "SAS" - An hilarious arguement to be sure, but perfectly within the parametres of what his American friend had stated.

Regular US Marines aren’t special forces, they’re just everyday grunts. That being said if you could get like Navy SEALs on this, I’d love that video.
the idea, that in any sort of real life scenario the us marines, a branch a highschooler can join, could keep up with a unit like the sas, that handpicks its applicants is genuinely ridiculous.
My first thought exactly. SAS are the UK’s top notch special forces. I fully respect our US marines and appreciate them however, the comparison is like apples to oranges. Now do this with Navy SEALs or Delta force and we would have an actual comparison.
Either way, God Bless America and her allies 🫡
🇺🇸🤝🇬🇧
@@ThatSoonerGuy Not apples to oranges, it would be a comparison between Samsung S20 and Iphone 15 Pro Max

People calling Navy, Airforce, etc the "Army" is an understandable mistake. Military and army seem like they should be synonymous.
Calling them special forces is dumb though.😂
That’s kindoff your fault for using stupid names. All through history they said army. You don’t say. Napoleon invaded with his grand military! You say army. Because they used to be synonyms.
@@thedonkey6704but he only invaded with his army. The French navy wasn’t called the French army
They’re elite they’re a step above the army
@@militaryman2121 Aren't the Marines way more physically fitter and stronger?

Former (shortened form of "formally active Marine" )
They have earned their right to be called a Marine forever and always.

Commenting at 5:50 the Marines are their own branch😅 they are not the USA their the USMC
I served in the US Marines, and we don't use terms like 11B, that's army. Our infantry is 0311 Rifleman, 0331 Machine gunner, 0341 Mortarman (my MOS), and 0351 Assaultman.

It’s pretty much military Olympics often using sim rounds, as opposed to paintball. From what I’ve been told, it usually narrows down into a personal tournament style with elimination rounds, coming down to 2 or maybe a few people in the end. 4:40 Preston pulled the most british move.
All the UK special Forces had to do was give the marines some crayons
At 5:57 it looks like a couple of the marines got took some friendly fire in the first round.
They're trained to throw compliant and non-compliant high value individuals around in firefights and control their movements to keep them safe and predictable. Not something a standard Marine worries about.
