It does happen but not usually that many cars. Not saying this is what happened here but it's often someone police have shot so Is technically in custody
It's usual in The Netherlands for instance. Long distances or high density traffic can be a reason to give an ambulance an escort. Most likely worst case scenarios for the patient or when it needs to go slow and steady instead of fast and rough. Or some other reasons. I know that they are doing this in France, especially around Paris cause the traffic is *. It's not usual for Belgium, despite having a lot of arguments that should warrant an escort for the ambulances. Not so usual for Germany either. I tend to believe that it's worth the investment. It's a training for the police and it may save a life and thus also tax money (yes, money is and will always be the issue). The age shouldn't be a variable to count if it's worth it. It's more like an insurance. The life saved of a kid will pay the cost for the elderly that are being escorted and thus those costs should be 0. Well, that's a very rough estimation of course but my idealistic view makes it absolutely cost efficient, haha. Same for first-responders. We, Belgium, don't have those in the usual emergency system which is stupid in my opinion. For the same reason those escorts are supposedly value for it's money. You'll be quicker on scene thus the patient has higher chances of survival and thus will be able to pay taxes longer. The young survivors pay somehow for the elderly but I tend to believe, again, that it's worth the cost. Because well, it ain't costing that much if you have several years of taxes instead of the taxes paid for a funeral. I read your comment and I started typing. Sorry for the wall of text ^^
We celebrate Halloween, which usually involves children putting on costumes and going door to door saying "trick or treat" and be given candy or some little thing. Not unlike the old English Mummers who'd sing for a piece of cake 1,000 years ago. In the past there was the occasional sick tosser who tried to hurt the children, tamper with the candy, set fires, expose themselves, dogging in cemeteries, and so on. I live in the country so there are no kids around here. I keep a few coins just in case. Sometimes adults get into it. The majority of people don't about causing mayhem. I'd quite forgotten about "mischief nite" until I saw this. Italy also celebrates it...as an excuse to march in the streets for some cause, have costume parties at pubs & such. Mexico and central/south American countries have a "day of the dead"
the escort would have been put in place due to the fact it was mischief night and for some bizarre reason there are people in this world who think it is funny to interfere with the work of our emergency services.
I had this 10 years ago as I would stop seizing
Judging by the ARV I assume that the patient was armed
Wow not seen that in England before. Its common in Europe which I always find a bit weird like they seem to escort ambulances a lot.

Good video 👍👍👍👍👍
Police escorting Ambulances used to be more common where I am but dropped off a lot since we got a dedicated Air Ambulance.

Yep they have a few on trial I believe
Wow, Great catch.
I didn't even know the US also celebrated this holiday as well.

The current way it is celebrated in the UK was imported from the USA celebrations. 🙂

Just weird
Guessing the ambulance escort was a wanted criminal that needed hospital treatment, as Ambulances don't need escorting unless urgent like a criminal
Sometimes they do...
Or a paediatric cardiac arrest.
I transport organs for transplant and I have had a police escort in Birmingham while the commonwealth games were on. Not just used for prisoners

Don't tell me it is something to do with the eco nutters?
