    Holy smokes, I thought I’d be offended by ignorance but this guy actually knows what he’s talking about. I’m Pashtun but all afghans are my countrymen regardless of ethnic background. Nice job Mr. Barfield.

      "Afghans" don't exist. It's like "American" or "Canadian" except Americans and canadians believe in their countries. Afghanistan is colonial creation just like most Asian and African countries.

    I’m mixed with Pashtoon and Tajik. What’s funny is that my tajic cousins speak perfect Pashto, and their Farsi is average. And then some of my Pashtoon cousins speak perfect Farsi, and their Pashto is average. Then there are the ones who speak both well. It‘s rather interesting.

      Hi Aly. When they say "Dari"...How different is that from Persian or Tajik? Ethnologue defines them as separate languages.

    • @wakmanazimi1643
      @wakmanazimi1643 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@MrRhomas913 Tajik is the ethnic group. Dari is the language spoken in Afghanistan beside Pashto as two national languages. Persian or Farsi might be the origins of Dari language but the dialect and the language which is spoken in Afghanistan is Dari not Persian. But Dari speakers can understand the Persian ones yet they are two separate languages. Just like Turkish and Azeri/Azerbaijani they have the same Turkish roots they both can easily understand each other after a few days in one of their countries yet they are two separate languages. Our Dari language and its dialect is much sweeter than that os Persian. Not that it’s one of our languages but this is a fact.

      Recent DNA analysis proves its not that ethnically diverse as previously though. Many in Afghanistan and some parts of Iran still have their original ancestors genetic DNA called the R1A haplogroup descended from the original persian Aryan ancestors they had called Yamnaya and same common ancestor of europeans. Most are still ethnically and racially white. There are some ethnic groups that are not from original persians/Aryans like the tajik, Uzbek peoples, hazara, smaller populations of Indian/pakistanis (which are dravidians), some Arab, small jew, small Turkic.

      Trust me when I say the ethnic identities in Afghanistan and northwestern Pakistan is so different than that of India and South Eastern Pakistan. It is not something comparable, the goals are different the thought process is different. Whether it's Tajik, Uzbek, or Pashtoon, we have always been here and the borders whether it's with Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, or Pakistan, means nothing to us. We all have families on each side of the border. And we are one people.

    There is 10 billion in the bank for Afghanistan from those last two deals mentioned in the video. The Taliban want to rule under Sharia and govern the people too. How can this be done when you hold down half of your population from learning needed tasks that will help you govern your country better?

    • @AmericanTLBN
      @AmericanTLBN 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re looking at it the wrong way. The sharia is the guidance for how to live in every aspect of your life. There need not be any deviation from that guidance because it creates mischief. The taliban will be able to govern well because they understand that following the Sharia is the only way they can be successful since their country is a deeply religious one. The US tried bringing “democracy” and it has been rejected by most which is why they were able to take over the whole country as quickly as they did. Never has the world seen something like it. It was Gods will.

      I don't think that is accurate, at least presently. Almost all Pakistani Pashtuns prefer the Pakistani nationality. Most top military leaders have been Pashtun. Moreover, a high proportion of the military soldiers is and has been made up of Pashtuns. The Prime Minister today is a Pashtun with most of his support is from non-pashtun province of Punjab. Those who like play the Pashtun independence card usually tend to be the political tail-enders, who lack support in the public. Sometimes, when "religious" parties can't get attention, they also like to play this card.
      Afghans have gotten into a habit of blaming others for the inherit problem of distrust amongst each other, at least at the leadership level. Even Biden referenced to it in his last address a few days ago. It is interesting, after crowing "Pakistan" "Pakistan" for the last decade, the ex-government officials disappeared like ghosts.

    What if we look upon each ethnicity as a unique flower with colours, shapes and fragrances all it's own. Each ethnic group or culture has talents and skills to contribute to society, and a legacy to pass on to their children.
    Next, Let us fly up to a great and wondrous height in the blue sky above. With a bird's eye view we are able to see all of the beautiful flowers of every variety, together they grow toward the Sun and wave back and forth by the cool breeze of the evening time. A kaleidescope of colours appear, and the mixing of the fragrances rises into the air, a most pleasant sensation to our eyes and nostrils.

    That was very interesting, especially the bit about age demographics. If the taliban want to hold on to any semblance of power - they will have to compromise massively. The worry is that they wont and there will be more fighting, that they will eventually lose but it could be years

    Very accurate, spot on. A lot of folks don't seem to understand that there is a strong enough emotional and pragmatic sense of "Afghanness" among the ethnic groups. The actual governance and accountability is very localized and across some tribal lineages. The closest thing I can think about it in the West is Switzerland, in the sense that ethnicity is not the defining part for political support of a state. There are differences, of course, especially since in Switzerland the Swiss Germans are a clear 65% of the majority. Moreover, the Swiss have developed a form of governance that actually works, where the canton-based organization has given much more stability than the unitary state formulas that have been attempted by many in the last 150 years. A federal or confederate model would work a lot better for AFGH than the unitary-style of the latest kings, Soviets, Mujahedeen, Taliban and Americans.

    What our current problem is that “Afghan” by definition in Dari and Pashto means “Pashtun” and doesn’t involve other ethnicities. Also “Afghanistan” means the land of the Pashtuns.
    If the government, which is dominated by Pashtuns, would agree to find out another name that’s neutral, everyone would be happy. The whole debate is I think not about the ethnicities disliking each other, but about one ethnicity labeling all others with their name. Like the man in the video said, it’s important to all ethnicities what role they are going to play in an multicultural and -linguistic national state.
    I personally have no problem with other ethnicities, although there might be a lot of differences between us. What all Tajiks, Hazara, Uzbek & co. are worried about is, the Pashtuns (not all of them, but the racist ones) who want to dominate the country in every aspect of our lives. And that’s smth other ethnicities won’t accept. They won’t accept their identities to be faded away.
    All other ethnicities don’t want domination, but involvement in the government and economics. We want our politicians to get elected considering their competence, not ethnicity.
    Unfortunately due to the government being dominated by the Pashtuns, they do all kind of corruption for the president to remain always a Pashtun.

      I understand your objection, having lived in Wales, and when abroad being called “Englishman”, and when listening or looking at The BBC being reminded that I was either ignored or excluded.
      The one advantage for non Pashto’s is that the dominant language in Afghanistan is Dari
      That is the key to maintaining a balance and preventing Pashto dominance. The Regions and cities that use Dari can never been suppressed especially if there is freedom of the mass media. This also helps the Hazara as they have one importan neighbor who they share a language and a religion with. Tajiks
      Dominate the cities and together with the many other Afghan ethnic groups have neighboring states ; I.e. Tajikistan.Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan .
      The World know understands that there are
      many ethnic groups who live in Afghanistan, including Pashto, but the World outside do no interpret the Name Afghanistan as Pashtostan.
      Many people know understand that the Taliban are mostly Pashto and that Pashto make up 40% of the Afghan population and that 60% are made up of others ethnic groups.
      This is why the Outside World insists that Afghan government must represent all groups
      and the rights of all groups must be safeguarded.♦️♦️♦️
