  • This is the official video from American Hakko - The FR811-SET is an economical, complete SMD rework system for the installation and removal of bottom terminated components, such as QFNs, etc.
    This video will show you how all the components of the system work together as a complete SMD rework system.
    The FR-811 complete system includes all the necessary component accessories - board holder, bottom heater, rework fixture, camera system and software - to professionally rework bottom terminated components with accuracy and repeatability.
    For full details please visit our website at: www.HakkoUSA.com - We also encourage you to visit our TH-cam "HakkoSoldering" Channel for more visually stimulating product videos.
    Thanks for watching!

    5:50 "Attach a vacuum pick-up cup to the vacuum pick-up tube..." - I can see a regular plastic/rubber pick-up cup, and that will melt away inside of that "mini-oven" at 400...500°C for sure. That is a quite high temperature for plastic things. Hows that ?

      telelaci2 probably it's silicon not plastic

      If you want the whole set, it's about 5500 USD on Amazon. But that's not the best place to buy that kind of product. I bought only the station itself without the table and the XY holder, and it was 1100 USD (here in Japan). I made the table myself, which combines it with a FM203 soldering iron station. CAREFUL: when you buy the rework station, they don't even give you one single nozzle, you have to buy them separately. There is one kit of 5 pieces which is cheap, but not really usable. Any BGA nozzle costs more than 60 USD.

    I'm sorry to tell you that, but the interface is really bad. You have designed what you think was an improvement to the previous button only interfaces. The multifunction button is indeed handy, but completely misused. And I feel entitled to complain because I have one.
    Example: see around 1:20. Rotating the button could be used to set the temperature, which would be quite intuitive, but no! The rotation is used to navigate in the menus and you have to set the temperature digit by digit. And once you have set up the temperature, the current menu position is reset, so you have to come all the way back to make minor modifications.
    We are in 2020!!! What you cal a "large, easy to read and understand graphic user interface" could have been true in the early 90s, but not anymore!
    If I had to put an evaluation on this, 1 to 5, 5 being best, It would be close to 5 for the hardware, but let's face it, it would be 1 for the interface. The reason I would not put 5 for the hardware is the design. Making a fancy casing for that kind product is clearly a waste of resources that could be better used for the interface. I'm in a
    lab, I will not use it in the living room, fancy design is a waste. Make it cubic, but make it easy to use! And remember: if you need to read the manual to use it (at least in manual mode), then it's a failure. I agree that configuring temperature profile parameters can be complicated if you don't use a PC.

    Is "bottom terminated" like "surface mount"?

    • @HakkoUSA
      @HakkoUSA  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, and QFNs (bottom terminated components.)

    • @HakkoUSA
      @HakkoUSA  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, and is ideal for QFNs.

      Bottom terminated includes indeed QFN, but you don't buy such a station for QFN which can be soldered with a plain soldering iron. You want that kind of expensive system for BGA. I bought it to rework large FPGAs (484 pins BGA).
