I am from Hong Kong and glad that you live Beyond. Beyond’s songs are inspiring, not just only romance but more focusing on freedom, race, dream….and haven’t mentioned that the lead singer, Wong Ka Kui, wrote majority of melodies and lyrics as well as his crazy skill in playing guitar. If you have time, recommend you to listen another song called 光輝歲月，it’s song he wrote to show his respect to Nelson Mandela.
I love his songs so much. I heard his songs when I was teenage (80's). His voice is so unique and attractive that you never forget. I love him not only his voice but also what he was trying to say ～ freedom, peaceful, equality and accusation of the society. Btw this comes from HK
This is the song I grew up with, it sung about the lost, helpless, young and stupid dreamers, the struggle between holding on to the dream or to grow up and become an "adult". It is a song that'll never gets old and forgotten, so much so, it still makes my eyes watery this day. I'm glad someone else found it too. R.I.P 家驹.

I'm from Singapore, I hear this song at pubs here, in Malaysia, and I've heard it countless times on taxis in mainland China when I'm there for work. Beyond is a legend, one of the icons of the epic 90s which was the zenith of Chinese pop culture.
the song is about the band struggle to find a stage where they can showcase their talents. Back in the 80s and 90s the HK music scene is all about singing cover version songs from Japanese and english songs and there wasn't much space for orginal songs written by bands.
No wonder HK golden era ended without regeneration. Through Beyond, i have learned that HK entertainment was very dilapidated. Beyond under Wong Ka Kui composed a lot of great and touching songs, yet they only got bronze award. Everyone knew they deserve higher recognition. The most ironic is they defeated by the same group, Grasshoper for 6 years. 🙄 I mean how could it be for consecutive freaking 6 years?

Wow it must be your recent comment that put this video on my TH-cam front page, I had NO idea you had reviewed these guys. They were really the iconic rock band of Asia back in their time, popular also in Japan, Taiwan and mainland China - still today popular karaoke choices (maybe you're aware but Asians don't see karaoke as a joke, they have fun with friends but it's serious and not intended as comedy like some people think). Their music is timeless I still love it.
They're really famous in Southeast Asia too. Last concert with all 4 members was held in Malaysia. He promised to be back at the end of the concert, sadly it could never be fulfilled. The rest of the group members held concerts in Malaysia every few years, I guess it's their way to fulfill the promise.
One of my husbands favourite groups from his early 20s.They are still hugely popular in HK where they were from. Also a favourite group among Chinese, Taiwanese, Malaysian, Singaporean etc and in the West among Asians. Their talent was so evident...great vocals, guitar, drums everything... Tragically their lead singer Ka Kui died in a freak accident leaving the stage while in Japan just as they were gaining the recognition they so deserved😢🙏❤️. Beyond were socially conscious and even wrote a song about Nelson Mandela. The wonderful thing about music is that it communicates across time, language cultures and generations. Beyond is still very loved to this day and I believe they always will be. We can only wonder what might have been🙏❤️🕊️

Been listening to Beyond since i was just a kid. This song is one of my fav song but i rarely listen to it bcos the lyrics are too hurtful feeling😭 The chorus part, "Although i'm still afraid that one day i might fall" became the truth when he fell down from stage and hit his head first. The main vocal convey his disappointment and despair about the depravity of the showbiz so he and the group decided to leave HK and move to Japan for their rock music dream. But it turned out the decision instead leads him to tragic death before group's career progressed as expected😭
Oh,I love every song from "beyond". It's so sad that the leader had an accident and died from from it. The boyband was disbanded a few years? After his death since he was the "soul" of the group.
