I felt really sad that new kpop stans know little about these legends. EXO is the 'elite' boy group, the idols of their kpop idols But many is not aware how great they are. If only SM did not gatekeep them in East Asia, they should have been more famous that what they are right now.
I have noticed that many new fans are not particularly interested in the history and context and culture their groups grew up in etc. Many recognise things from Tiktok or survival shows but have no idea of where these important songs come from. But it may also be just because most groups have so much content these days that there isn't loads of time to go looking up foundational groups and understanding the history of the industry etc. Comparing the levels of content and access people have now to when we were enjoying kpop abroad back in 2008.... wow, fans are so spoiled these days (and I'm not complaining).....

The problem is not that SM gatekeep them in Asia, the problem is SM hardly ever promoted them. 2012-16 is where SM at least showed up efforts for trying to promote them, 2016-19 is just fans keeping Exo relevant. After that it's mostly hiatus era until Don't Fight the Feeling. The only reason DFTF even stood up is because it was a special album and because it was the last comeback of Lay. After that they've been basically on hiatus again until Exist era. Exist was meant to doom with all the drama that was going on between SM and Exo. Even fans have grown up and didn't have time to actually contribute.
@@tbakhalid4781 However, Exist still sold more than 2 million copies with very little promotion and with the legal struggles because their fanbase has continued to grow over the years as more people discover them. And us old fans may have less time but we also have more money hahahaa (mostly joking) but I do think the changes over the years include (both SM promotion or lack thereof) the general arc of kpop groups as they and their fans get older.

Only 3. They have the elite musical singer among their midst, suho. A gem like xiumin, even though his talents is mostly showcased in cbx. Chanyeol a league of his own that's fits into no box..the king of China exist. You can't downplay the power of r&b kai with a honey voice. Not in the league of the others, but his power and presence is worthy of note. Sehun is just coming into his own with singing, doing voice lessons but has also requested more singing lines which was showcased in singing voice.
Am just saying their top 6/7 is noteworthy, and they others can definitely hold their own.

I would say 4: Baekhyun (my no1 fav singer), DO, Chen, and Suho, but they are all good. But Super Junior sound just as great as a group and they also have top 3 soloists: Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Yesung who actually also perform as a trio, KRY. And Max of TVXQ is also outstanding, and Y-Know is good too. SM 2nd-3rd gen was really extremely lucky with singers.
EXO is the best thing that could happen to Kpop, both in music and voices, they are a group with a level that is difficult to surpass ❤️

Also "Mama" is Korean for "Your Majesty" not like. english mom x"D so EXO has a very structured lore history and mama was the debut and it sets up their entire premise. they do have a werewolf one [Wolf] but htey're actulaly aliens with superpowers which is shown in pre-debut' sHistory and Obsession

@@kimrust1826 both Wolf and Growl came with two seperate drama episodes where they are kinda made out to be wolfs, but in the lore most of us just see it as one of their many forms in a parallel universe
Also, in my opinion some of them more or less have Elemental Powers instead of Superpowers, hmmm ….. sort of like Fifth Element (if you get what I mean)!

exo literally invented lore in kpop. sm wrote a lore already even before picking out the members. they are the reason behind SM's multiverse/kwangya lore, it all started with exo. mama is a song about how they are from another planet which is exoplanet and came to earth and have witnessed how damage the world already is. exo's lore is so deep that yyou just have to be there but there arwe a lot of videos you can watch trying to explain them. their lore is just so massive that even until now in 12 yrs of their career, their power is still incorporated and there are a lot of clues and hints in everything- commercial ads, variety shows, concerts, VCRs, all their mvs are connected and their album concepts and song lyrics. especially each solo member's discography is also connected with their lore. its so insane tbh and so fun

EXO is the reason I stick around for kpop at all anymore. I like plenty of other groups and songs every so often, but Exo ensures I still pay attention. Their voices are beyond many I've heard in music flat out. It's so sad to me how badly they're gate kept from international fans. The raw talent these boys have for music is mind blowing.

Hi Im new to Exo and Im trying to learn, I know Kai and I know why he is not here but in some comments of other videos where they explain who they are some people say they have 8 member(this 7 plus Kai) and some people say they have 9 members(because of Lay) and I have seen than Lay hasnt been around for some time. Im just confused. Please help me.
@@nilmaryrivera8578 Kai is currently completing his military service which is mandatory for korean citizens for lay he's not being able to promote and have comeback with exo due to political tension between korea and china plus lay is a Chinese member

Exo did live for their title as the Vocal Kings and Emperor of Kpop. Imagine a powerhouse of talent. They can easily switch positions without a worry.
3 members established their own labels for solo works. Baekhyun (INB100), Kyungsoo or D.O. (Company SooSoo), and Lay (Chromosome Entertainment Group). They was debuted of he year 2012.

I’ve listened to their Killing Voice so many times. I’m obsessed with their live vocals.
I cannot recommend enough reacting to many of EXO's songs. They are one of the best groups out there, and not only in K-pop in my opinion. Their vocals, music and everything else about them is gold and unmatchable. Their discography is one of the most versatile I have come across. They are the kind of group that while their main tracks are bangers, their B-sides are treasure. There is a reason why they are known as Vocal Kings of K-Pop and the three main vocalists (Baekhyun, Chen and D.O.) are known as the vocal trinity. They also hold the Guinness record for the fastest concert sold at 0.2 sec. In addition to that, they are amazing human beings. Another thing that I would highly recommend is to react to their solo projects which are just as amazing as their group work. Test it out by checking a solo of one of the guys that did not really catch your attention here, but that once you listen to only one song of his, you will not be able to forget and you will go down the rabbit hole. Listen to Baekhyun's "All I Got " and take it from there. He is the only soloist to sell more than 2 million copies in S. Korea of each of his two albums in more than 19 years breaking the record twice (the second time without any promotion whatsoever as he went to the military immediately after releasing the album). They are really special.

First Snow is a Christmas song that keeps on resurrecting through charts every December, it's a decade old and still won an award last year, insane!!!
exo-L here. there are a lot of great live 'don't go' performances. you should check their live stuff like their acoustic session or diamond-coming over-run this-drop that-power or anything really because they always perform at a 10+. vocal kings.

I have so much praise for EXO, they are legends of KPOP. Named "Vocals Kings of kpop" "South Korea's choice" "best boy group"! They have a massive fandom around the world and have countless awards and amazing things they have achieved as a group! They are truly MUST KNOW and STAN group in Kpop. How good is Xiumin? Exo is so good vocally that Xiumin is only the 5th best vocalist in the group. Chen, Baekhyun and D.O. are the main vocalist (with former member Luhan 4th). Xiumin would be a main vocalist in many other groups other than BTOB or perhaps Super Junior and TVXQ. Btw, Mama means majesty in Korean.

I discovered EXO in 2014 when my niece went to South Korea to teach English and have loved them ever since. There is a live version of "Don't Go" -- EXO Planet #2 at the Tokyo Dome. 😊

Top-notch skills including singing, ad-libbing, improvisation, stability, harmony, acapella, high notes, various techniques that still have both old and new fans interested at all times. All members can write songs and melodies for many songs in each album. and resolving various situations well in every stage All items displayed Mike never dies. You should go see Killing Voice, which is sung live in a single take, which is only thinly selected. Even though there are many famous songs And you should watch the medley singing live at the latest 12th anniversary fanmeeting where everyone was stunned. Amazed at the power of singing that is extremely perfect all rounder. The talent of every member is suitable for the big national events that they have performed all the time. Deserving of the status of one of the emperor legends of Kpop is EXO.
And one thing about EXO is they can ALL sing AND rap AND dance :) an all rounder you can say

Tomorrow is the 12th Anniversary for EXO. They are doing a two day concert April 8 th and April 9th . I’ve been following them for 12 yrs, there used to be 12 Members. There were divided into two units EXO K and EXO M. EXO M consisted Chen, Xiumin, Tao, Luhan, Lay and Kris. The other EXO K Chanyeol, Baekhyun, Kai, Suho, Sehun, Kyungsoo.
