"Brotha, I will go through the fire with you!"...An underrated great line in this scene. It showed Frank's loyalty and committment to Joe despite Frank's dissapointment
Morgan Freeman should have won an Academy Award for Best Actor and Robert Guillaume should have won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. These two actors were brilliant in this film.
I could watch the scene over and over and not get tired of it. Acting greatness. And the way friends should be able to go at each other if need be and still be down with each other. Robert told Morgan I'll go through the fire with you...but I'm still the HNIC. Love it.
I definitely agree but we will never get them. The American ego is more fragile than glass. It takes absolutely nothing to offend somebody you don't even have to say anything and you have somehow offended them.
What Crazyjim said. As the old adage goes, "Love is love but business is business". They care about one another because of what they have gone through, but from 9 to 5, Dr. Napier is the boss and Joe has to play by what he says.
This clip makes it both hard to believe and all the more stupendous that you are actually watching two actors, each with a boatload of lines, in one continuous (and intense) scene without any breaks, executing the interchange to absolute perfection. Though Morgan Freeman is excellent as always, Robert Guillaume demonstrates full-on how "mastercraft" an actor he is and always has been.
More than half of this scene is a single shot. More than 90 seconds of one shot. Just unbelievable. Unthinkable in modern popular cinema. Freeman and Guillaume are just completely in control of their craft. Old-school, hard-working actors turning in an absolute A+ performance here.
It may be true. But extracurricular activities is useful for kids as it brings motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. That’s just as essential as academics.
@@amylee8969They’ve had enough extracurricular activities of a life time. Would not hurt them to get their shit together and not lose their entire education.
@ Jerry X Well it’s not the music teacher OR music classes fault the school went downhill and the students are wild and crazy. That was the fault of the drug dealers and kids associating themselves with bad crowds. That’s the reasons it was hard for teachers and staff to manage the kids, which interferes with their ability to get an education.
I love this scene. its awesome because it illustrates that both men are strong and intelligent and passionate about wanting to get things done, but one also sees the larger scope that the other may not and that one is also under just as much pressure as the other. I also love that the depth of their friendship remains intact inspite of the fact Dr. Napier is Mr. Clark's superior in the school system.

God I would literally kill for a friendship like this. Where I know we can get into some serious disagreements, then move on immediately. You can't learn and grow if you're always agreeing with everything all the time. It's a stagnant, braindead lifestyle. Healthy debate is good, imo. It's probably why I keep getting into it, despite swearing not to again, half the time. The problem today is people don't know what debate is. Debate isn't calling names, or unfriending someone cuz your feelings were hurt. This world will collapse the way it's going. People need to grow up or go extinct and nature will make sure it goes one way or the other.
