I found this vacuum sealer in the middle at Lidl about 4 months ago, and it's been sat in my cupboard ever since then, mainly because the instruction book isn't exactly clear on how to use it! I came across your really helpful video today, and it's made my life sooo much easier! Thank you so much for making a simple and easy to follow tutorial.
I'm just trying to get mine to work. As stated the instructions aren't very good. I've followed you to the letter but cannot get the vacuum part to do it's job.
@@peterbonnez You might be putting the plastic sleeve too far in past the vacuum part, or not far enough, or you have cut the sleeve too close to the food object so the vacuum can't seal it.

I bought lots of beetroots from M&S as they are currently on special offer, I have boiled 10 large beets, the next step will be to slice them up, vacuum seal them and then freeze them. I am truly grateful for your tutorial video which was very easy to follow. Thank you much 😃

Nice review I bought the same one, but I already have to send it back… It’s not sealing like it suppose to. It only sucks the air out sometimes and when it stops it doesn’t seal

Mine lasted 4 years and finally stopped working three days ago. Now I'll have to wait until Lidl gets these machines back in stock. They are usually available up to three times a year. I could buy a different make, but I found the SilverCrest to be so reliable and easy to use that I want to stick with the brand if possible. I used my machine nearly every day, sometimes twice a day, and vac sealed easily 150 packets of smoked haddock (use one fillet, vac seal the second) over the 4 years. Plus English muffins, pork steaks, chicken drumsticks, and much more.
@@thephattones I also bought one! But it never appeared in any of Lidl's weekly leaflets. I've been looking out for a consignment of these to land in the stores for literally weeks, so I could hardly believe my eyes last Sunday when I suddenly came across them. And the price was still £19.99.

Mine does not suck the air out. It sounds the same i try to put the plastic bag in all kind of positions but it just does not suck. I guess it sucks in just the most common way.
We've been trying to find them and can't. They do occasionally get them in the shops but they sell fast and never know when they will get more in unfortunately.

No need to press the seal button, this works at the end of vacuuming automatically. Just use the seal button if you want to seal the bag with the air inside 😊

Hi, thanks for the question, I agree the device pulls tight but then relaxes ever so slightly when sealing, I recommend a test seal and see how it goes, we have had no issues and foodstuffs have lasted as long as expected, hope this hepls

Had to return this item back to Lidl as like in your video it lets air back in whilst its switches over to seal. @ 5:16

That’s a shame. Ours still works well. I’d return it for a refund or exchange. Lidl are very good at customer service.

Bought mine does 2 seals then stops over heats vacuum not great.
That’s a shame. I can do several bags in one session with no overhearing problems.

On my previous vacum sealer i damaged it by closing it shut for storage. Apparentley i should have left it open. Is this one the same ?.
Yes, it’s best to leave open so the rubber seals keep their plump shape and don’t get stuck together or flattened 😊

Can the bags be reused?
I often wash them and trim off the tatty pre sealed edges to reuse until it eventually becomes too small.

yes, a tiny bit of air flows back, same happens with the other vacuum sealers we have used, but it still works great at keeping food fresh.
