Dear, Thanks for your questions! We are glad to hear that you finally got Power Pivot working. This video focuses on creating data models using relationships between tables. However, depending on your goal, you can use DAX formulas within Power Pivot to create calculated columns or measures after appending your data.
Hello @satishreddy1497, There are more than 3 ways to get pivot table fields these are: 1. Drag and Drop 2. Field List Checkbox Selection 3. Pivot Table Field List Pane 4. Right-Click Menu 5. Using Field Buttons 6. Keyboard Shortcuts 7. Excel VBA Regards ExcelDemy
Very well explained…but curious to know why different methods are available? Is there any extensive use of data models created through power query i.e # 2 you explained?
Dear, Thanks for your compliment! Your appreciation means a lot to us. Using Power Query to create a data model is particularly beneficial when preparing and cleaning your data extensively before analysis. It helps by automatically sorting out your data and ensuring it is clean and organized. This saves you a ton of time, especially if you're dealing with big piles of data that need a lot of work. Basically, the method you choose depends on your needs. If you want something simple, go for the primary process. Try the Power Query method if you need to clean up your data before using it.
Hello @ph.mekawey, To add Power Pivot to Excel on a Mac, follow these steps: 1. Ensure you have the latest version of Excel for Mac, as Power Pivot is included in Office 365 subscriptions. 2. Go to the Data tab and look for the Manage Data Model option. You might need to install the latest updates via the Help menu if not visible. 3. For additional functionality, consider using Power BI, which integrates with Excel. Regards ExcelDemy
I understand the use case for using power query for automation. But, what are the advantages and disadvantages of using Relationship tool vs PowerPivot.
Hello @DequanHarrison, In the video, we skipped the theory part, sorry for that. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of using the Relationship tool vs. PowerPivot in Excel: Relationship Tool: Advantages: 1. Simple for linking tables. 2. Suitable for simple data models without complex calculations. Disadvantages: 1. Lacks advanced features for complex data analysis. 2. May not efficiently handle large datasets or complex queries. PowerPivot: Advantages: 1. Supports complex calculations, measures, and KPIs. 2. Optimized for large datasets and complex models. Disadvantages: 1. Requires more advanced knowledge to use effectively. 2. Needs the PowerPivot add-on, which might not be available in all Excel versions. Regards ExcelDemy
Dear, Thanks for your queries! Yes, Power Pivot is similar to Power BI. Both use the same core technology. However, Power BI is more advanced for making interactive reports and dashboards. If you know Power Pivot, Power BI will feel familiar and more powerful.
