      @Random A All the latin american folks will probably understand this: sadly we don't need to draw lines because we live in cages with bars on doors and windows, so it's very unprovable that a bird fly and crash into the glass. If there's a day in the future in which I can live free without fear, so without bars, of course I'll paint all of my windows if needed for them not to be hurt💛

      Birds don't fly into windows because the see through the glass, but rather because they see the reflection of the outside world in it and probably think they'll fly towards whatever is reflected in the window.

    • @coriscotupi
      @coriscotupi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Berserker Fury Not really. When you see though glass you see things that are on the opposite side. The birds attempt to fly toward a landscape that SEEMS to be on the opposite side of the glass. I trust that you can grasp the difference here.

      The sun moves in the sky, and the changing angle of light means that reflections come and go different times of the day, as well as different seasons of the year. The markings cannot be seen nearly as well when there is reflection from the glass. So you may find that with time, there will be some collisions with the markings on the inside only.

He tried to save one he tells the story of how he burst into tears with the injured bird in his car going home how the bird burst into song before passing on. Great tip . Perhaps the makers of windows should be taking the birds welfare more into consideration , and be designing windows that prevent this happening . I was at a golf club recently for my patents 80 th birthday , and a bird was stunned after flying into a window . My sister who is a vet but was here on holidays had to take it to the local vet clinic in the end .
    Places such as that , buildings with large windows , which is popular these days , really ought to be held responsible for protecting the wildlife’s well being , in this day and age . It’s not really good enough is it , just accepting this hazard for poor birds , as ‘ the norm ‘

    • @judeangione3732
      @judeangione3732 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It isn't the windows themselves that are the problem. It's the location and size and whether you're on a flight path and what is reflected in the windows. I've only had a problem with birds flying into my windows at one specific house and that was when I was on a hill and the windows reflected sky much of the day. It happened mostly on the south side of the house. The window just looked like sky. We eventually put black bird decals on the window. I don't think window manufacturers could take all that into account.

    • @killa46464
      @killa46464 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jude Angione . Thanks for your reply and information. More research and Education for people to understand the wildlife habits for all the creatures we share our space with would be ideal . If town planning took that sort of information into account .that would be good . And certain types of windows for problem spots , perhaps non reflective windows that appear black on the outside or something .
      I think the lack of care for the wildlife is serious . With the knowledge out there I can’t believe the level of densely housed developments that are spreading here where I live in Australia . It’s sad to see . I just read yesterday , an ABC report saying that Research in America and Europe is saying that The loss of bird numbers in particular, is happening at an alarming rate . I think it was 2.9 million less birds in the US since 1988 (?) don’t quote me . I’ll add the link 👍The whole ecological system is breaking down . A much larger problem than windows . But I always like contemplating possible ideas . Unfortunately I’m not in a position to affect great changes myself . I wish I’d studied environmental science and was more involved . But I have a chronic health condition which means my daily life is pretty much a challenge to navigate . 30 yrs ago I saw problems coming and when more people seemed to be into studying the environmental issues I thought that knowledge and skill would be utilised in town planning . But the way that the houses are going up , without any room for trees or garden , brick wall to brick wall , it’s devastating for the wildlife population. And ultimately the human population too . It’s not looking good is it .

      @@-BUFFALOMan ok but in all seriousness you shouldn't censor children from such things as long as they don't use it, for example sexual relationships. If parents censor their children from such things then thats how you get awkward moments when a kid finds out about such subject because hes/her parents were to overprotective that they didnt tell them what a badwords is or mean i think its better for children to have a knowing what it is but also a knowing its wrong and he/she shouldn't use such words because its wrong
      Besides pretty sure most kids in this day in age know more bad words than their parents thanks to a magical thing called the Internet
      So please, any parent out there please do yourselves a favor and talk to your children about such things so their rightfuly educated BEFORE they hear it from a friend who probably heard it from a friend who probably didn't know anything about the subject

    The entire front of my house is All Glass . 5 sets of sliding doors 10 feet wide each. They have E glass which almost like a mirror type effect especially because I face North . I've had quite a few Birds over the years commit suicide on my glass doors. As a matter of fact just last week I heard a big bang I went out it was a kingfisher laying there. After a few minutes it picked its head up and I thought it was going to be all right the way most of them are but he tried to get up a few times and he put his head down and passed away . I felt bad. Over the years I had two separate red tail hawks do the same thing and the Crash was so loud I was shocked that they didn't break the glass . A red tail hawk is a big bird . Kind of fun living here in the middle of 40 acres of mostly open land with a 17 Mile View, 360 degrees. Everything you can imagine deer, turkeys, bald eagles, black bear, bobcat, coyote ,small game, etc. you name it and it's here.
    Take care. T

    Alex thank you for this education to our birding lovers. I am over here in the US and the pattern that we recommend to use here is a 2 in by 2 in pattern so our hummingbirds can see the visual markers and avoid trying to "squeeze" in between. I used a white Sharpie oil based pen (from Amazon) on the outside of my three reflective windows and it worked like a charm, I have a two-inch by two-inch dot visual marker pattern on one window. And had my grandkids help and make a nice picture (with the same pattern) and eureka - so far no collisions. Not sure if anyone will see this but few collisions means more birds - that's what we say here! :) thanks all

    Here in Texas we have a neighborhood red tail hawk, on two known occasions; has driven mourning doves into a front glass storm door, in order to stun or kill them. The doves leave a substantial amount of feather oil imprint on the glass as proof.

    • @SiegePerilousEsauMaltomite
      @SiegePerilousEsauMaltomite 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Johnny Dominguez Well, the doves try to lose the hawks through a small space, unlikely the hawks can steer a doves trajectory into a window.

      Johnny Dominguez I wouldn’t put it past a bird of prey to learn that chasing birds around houses yields an easier chase.

    I've got this same problem with one single bird repeatedly doing this every day. I will try this. Thank you for the tip, and for being so nice to all those little birds. Would you happen to know how to keep them from landing on and fluttering around car sideview mirrors when parked in driveway? They seem to keep trying to see themselves in the mirror, like they want to meet the bird in the reflection, or they are obsessed with their own appearance. I guess maybe covering the mirror with a cloth may be an option. And perhaps a sign that reads "Please do not poo on car."
