A young woman is uprooted during the time of the last forest inhabitants of South Africaʼs Knysna forest of the 1930s. When she gets involved in an intimate relationship with an urban gentleman, her forest background proves an obstacle.
Karoliena is coaxed into marriage, experiences the realities of progress, the power of money, the oppresion of nature, and what it will take to stay true to herself.
Hierdie romantiese drama is gebaseer op die 2003-topverkoper met dieselfde naam, wat deel uitmaak van die oorlede skrywer se arsenaal van suksesvolle bosverhale. Dit vertel die storie van Karoliena Kapp, ’n vrou met ’n intieme liefde en verbintenis met die bos. If you've read the book, don't bother watching this movie. They didn't even attempt to be true to the essence of what this book is about. I have no idea how it got such great reviews. This movie was such a dissapointment.

I have read all dalene matthee books. I can tell from this , its a bit different . Her books could do well in films but I think it depends on the director..
