  • On the program:
    - Hungary approves Sweden's bid to join NATO: After two years' delay, lawmakers vote overwhelmingly to support the decision, after overcoming opposition from the prime minister.
    - Germany rules out sending Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. Chancellor Scholz says delivering the weapons that Kyiv requested would risk pulling Germany into the war.
    - The prime minister of the Palestinian Authority announces the resignation of his entire government - a move seen as a step towards reform and a post-war Middle East peace settlement.
    - European farmers bring parts of Brussels to a standstill. They're angry about high costs, competition, and red tape. EU agriculture ministers look for ways to ease tensions.

The argument that Taurus missiles would be a material escalation are absurd. Even discounting the occupied territory, Ukraine and Russia have a common border of hundreds of kilometers where a hand grenade could reach Russian territory. The real difference Taurus would make is that the Ukrainian aircraft can launch it from well beyond Russian air defenses.
