seeing art and his wife, francoise, is eerie for me... I've only seen them in mouse form!

I read maus in high school and that book is what sparked my interest in history...WW2 history and ALL history. All I can say about Maud is it is pure brilliance

Maus is one of the very few books that made me shed tears while reading it. I cried when reading the last page, when Mr. Spiegelman's mother and father are finally reunited. What a masterpiece.
I wish we had read this in middle school instead of the fictional accounts based on what happened that they had us read, instead, even if one of them was a mix of several survivor's stories.
Maus felt more real, and more human.

I read Maus on nightshift in Work last night after my dad told me it was amazing, knowing my interest in ww2 that has developed since I was a kid- it’s incredible. I found myself forgetting what I was reading about as I was getting lost in the art and at times when the story really hit, it brought me back to Earth with a crash. Truly wonderful
My 6th grade daughter read Maus, and then I read it, to connect with her. I enjoyed it very much and talking about it with her.
Maus is a masterpiece.
I'm reading Maus in my 8th grade history class, and so far the book is amazing. Every day I can't wait to read more.

This year a TN school board banned it from 8th grade curriculum without offering a replacement.
I am at Full Sail and I had to read this for the first time but I am glad. This truly is a work of art. I loved reading this book! He is amazing!
Walking through the school one day, walked into a book closet where some buddies were organizing. Walked in, said what’s sup. One goes “hey, seen these books”? It was both issues new. He knew i liked copies and “gave” me them. Best graphic novels I’ve ever seen. Finished them within the week.
Brilliant book. I've reread it muliple times.
Purchased a copy of this book in the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. and enjoyed every second of the book.
Started reading it today. All I can say is wow. Amazing stuff.

Did you know Art Spiegelman was behind Garbage Pail Kids? Just discovered that today from reading his (comic) autobiography. Amazing
Maus grabbed my attention so strongly that I was never that enthusiastic about doing my homework, anytime I hear about this book I feel like crying to this day that's how much I understood it. When the test day came for this I was ready to take this test in any form (essay form, short answer, multiple choice, oral test, etc) & get a good grade! I knew just about each page of the book. So yes I concur with you, but for you to tell that person that Maus is a brilliant book is an understatement!.
If, dear readers, you would like to view more heart-felt cartoon stories try ''Barefoot Gen', Keiji Nakazawa's account of surviving the nuclear devastation of Hiroshima at the age of 7. First published 1972-73, like Maus it emphasises, "the need to cultivate in ourselves the ability to see through and resist images of the enemy which erode our capacity to experience our common humanity.... (and resist) the use of violence and weapons as an expression of personal courage and love of country."
Such a great novel and warning from history.
Funny, one-half of me is mixed Polish, Slovak and Ukrainian (though not Jewish), and yet I'm not at all offended, in fact I really do find this to be sheer genius, no lie. I was in my soph. year in college back in '94 when I bought both volumes, have them both to this very day. I very much like keeping in touch w/my roots, but when it comes to the all the chaos and misery of WW II, it's best to keep it from a distance. Both books do just that.
Sort of like Animal Farm meets Schindler's List :-)
He wanted it to be re-readable, he suceeded. 4th time I'm reading it :D

I’m reading this in high school right now it’s really a interesting book and one of a kind
My 1st semester @ a local university in 2007 I was doing poorly in a history class especially after getting the results from the test of the last book I had to read. (& I didn't really like to read Idk if it's because that particular book was boring) However, the next book the instructor had us read was Maus. I didn't think I would do good in this book either.. but as soon as I saw it was animated & I read the 1st page I couldn't put it down! I fell in love w/ this book & I couldn't put it down.

I remember my 11th grade english class read this, I thought it was awesome we got to read a comic for school. Being of Italian ancestry, I wonder what animal he would've drawn Italians as?

In finland there is really bad comic culture, there is few places where they sell a lot of comics and most ar reslly generic. If you go to the bookshop, there is very little section of mostly Tex Willer, TinTin and that type of stuff. And ofcourse Donald Duck because finnish loove Donald Duck. So there usually is Carl Barks and Don Rosa stuff. Then sometimes there is something special and I had never heard of Maus but saw 2 copies of the complete edition in english and immidiatelly noticed it's something special when I picked it up. Just finished it and goddamn it is something else, so well told and gives you better understanding of the situation than other mediums have done for me from documentaries, movies and books. It deeppened it for sure. Way it's told it kinda maybe unconciously for Spiegelman at the time revealed a lot about the lingering trauma even thru generations.
This book was written in his fathers point of view.His fathers view was that the poles were treacherous because of the terrible things some of them did.We as humans like to group people together to make a common enemy,so instead of hating a few Pole's, he thought all of them were.This whole books about people finding common enemys, Also for the record, this is a brilliant book.

Maus me acercó a la terrible masacre que vivieron millones de personas, eso siempre lo voy a recordar. Recomiendo ese libro la parte uno y por supuesto la parte dos, también recomiendo investigar sobre el holocausto con intensidad... no hay que dejar que algo tan horrible y atroz se repita. The more I think about it, the more I think things like Watchmen and Sandman are the best comic books ever written, but remain comics. Maus is pure literature.

I read Maus back in Junior high and I still remember everything clearly. It truly is a work of art.
