Beautiful work Gabriel, I have to admit that some of the "mistakes" that you pointed out are actually among my favourites 😉

Thanks for this! This topic is of great interest to someone, such as I, who has a freezer full of expired film. I had not heard of that rule before. Two questions: does it apply as well to B&W film, and does cold storage reduce the level of overexposure required?

Interesting, I have read that storage plays a large part in film sensitivity over time. I bought these off eBay so I don't know how they were stored and took a gamble that paid off! I would have thought you wouldn't have to overexpose as much if they were freezer stored!

The ways the colors "degraded" is spectacular! It seems maybe some color sensitivities drifted apart leaving gaps in the spectrum (greens shifting blue and yellows and reds staying steady making a gap in rich warm green). The rainy grey days were a great choice as well as they seemed to help smooth some of the extra contrast from pulling the film a couple stops. Love your videos!

Maybe its actually yellow thats dropped out. Could be that the chemicals sensitive to reds and greens got less sensitive on the edges of their spectrums leaving a gap for yellow. From some googling it also seems like something could be happening with the yellow filter layer that separates the red and greens from the blue sensitive layer. Anyway lovely Sunday video and a reminder to restock on film for the holidays :)

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the video! I agree on the film really shining, I think I got super lucky with how long it's been expired and how well everything turned out! Really appreciate the breakdown of what might be happening to the film itself to cause some of the colour shifts, it's really interesting to hear about!

Loved these. The greens and the brown colors came so well. Even loved the once which got underexposed badly

@@gabrielbailey802 you have me wanting to visit the Yorkshire Dales too now! Are they easily accessible from London?

Yes really not too bad! You can get a train to Horton in Ribblesdale, one change in Leeds on the way and then you’re right there in the heart of things!

Great shots, surprisingly good for Tesco )) I wonder if M&S or Waitrose also sold their own branded film? I know Boots had their own film too...
