Can't wait for the bumper mount reversal and flip. Cut the body line right below the headlights, cut the back of the bumper, put the back bumper mount on the front, upside down, slapped all the way in, remove the fake winch. Then put the front bumper mount on back, upside down and French it into the body too
Just found your channel and this series, great stuff! I am getting back into the hobby and wish I this was available when I "restarted". love your way of sharing, teaching, and educating about the hobby. Keep up the great stuff! Next project should be the SCX61??
One of the first things I did to my sport was move the battery to the front. Then shortened the frame and body. The sport is one of the best for the price.
The pace of this series is very well judged for those inexperienced with, or apprehensive of, tinkering with their new toy cars. As usual the video is so dense with information and opinion that theres something for the grognard too.
Oh, TRX-4 by a lot. The amount of money that need be spent to get a TRX-4 to a level of shall we say, competency is far below that of a Basecamp. Durability is basically not directly comparable. Between the two, the TRX-4 Sport has a better body, better shocks, better tires, better electronics, better axles, and better aftermarket support. The "new" Basecamp looks nicer and is $10 cheaper (for the vehicle itself,) but that's it. As you get into modifying them and look at the level of performance based on equal dollars spent, the Sport is miles ahead of the Basecamp.
Very good strategy all around with the TRX-4 Sport. I have the Traxx edition (we have snow here in Canada) and it came with the forward battery mount so I use it. I swapped out the XL5 and stock motor for a Fusion when the stock motor wore out. I run a Traxxas 2255 servo because when the tracks are on it’s heavy and they are hard to steer. I don’t use it as a rock crawler, more of a wilderness adventure trail truck, so I’ve left the rear rack on. I like the look of the rack and have it kitted out with the full spotlight set. In the dead of winter it’s dark but that thing lights up the trail. In the summer the Canyon Trails go on and it does fine on almost all my local terrain. Anyway, if I bought a Sport to use as a 50/50 trail truck and rock crawler, I’d do exactly what you are doing with the tan man.
If you really want to quiet that truck down...get a Kyx aluminum motor mount. I didn't want to drive my Sport kit when I first got it a few years back. But that mount made such a huge difference.
I assume it helps by aligning the pinion too the spur gear better. I have two TRX4's that are over a year old and a friend that has two that were purchased a year apart. He actually wouldn't dri e his TRX4's cause of the noise. Then when he realized how quiet mine was and I suggested the aluminum mount, he got two and now drives them again.
As always great production, insight, commentary etc. I regret not getting a sport when they were available because i feel like its kind of the penultimate iteration of the trx-4 platform. Like a trx-4 whittled down to only its most essential components. All the reliability and performance with less weight, cost, and complexity. Very cool. That body is ass though..maybe thats why i didnt buy one, cant remember now.
I am there with you, as I strongly prefer a kit and will buy one whenever it's an option. But the "industry" doesn't much care about the established, they only seek out the new-- and that's not just in toy cars. Looking at just "the big four," there's less ~7 kits total, and the truth of it is that only a couple of them are even worth considering. It's honestly terrible that we have to rely on MEUS, Injora, and the like for innovation in the segment, but here we are.
I k iw every one says that a trx is built like a tank, but I have broken a front axle housing on my trx6 before. It was last winter, middle of winter. I had a 1410 3800kv and castle mamba x in it. Just doing some trail driving on some really rough terrain.
@@OrganizedChaos1221I would send him my Basecamp, but it has straight axles and a stealth x transmission swapped in, so it wouldn't be a fair comparison
I've never gotten a click out of any of my TRX-4 boxes, just out of a couple of Vanquish VFDs. Or if there is a click, I can't hear it over the usual TRX-4 growl.
My wife is a voice actor and every time I watch your videos around her she says “Is that Seth McFarland?” She thinks you must be related to him or you are him since you haven’t shown your face.

Happy Halloween Canyoneros. Be safe 😎🙏

I added brass tube sleeves on the links of mine not sure it does anything but they look cool 😅
You're giving Traxxas a reason to bring back the TRX4 Sport Kit. I spent about 269.97 for my Sport Kit. (of course that was pre-pandemic money)
I love this TRX4 tuning series, learning so much!
❤TRX-4 sport
I can't decide between the Axial BaseCamp and the TRX4 sport. It will be my first 1/10 scale. Loving this series, very imformative! Thanks

@CrawlerCanyon Thank you for the detailed response! 🙏 I'm looking forward to watching this series to learn a lot more about the TRX4.
Excellent episode. Really digging this series 👍

I use that front battery tray to hold my winch controller 😅😅😅
You keep calling him the tan man … just Name him Sandman !!!
I can get behind that
Aw man,I missed it. Our horse was getting his hooves trimmed and new shoes.
Spicy photon gun!
I’ll never forget the difference between opening my trx4’s receiver box and opening my trx4 sport’s receiver box 😂
Explain please or will I see in this episode?
@@brianmorrison2846 three less servos!
Yeah, everybody but the Sport has a CRAMMED receiver box. If you try to add anything else you have to get an extender.

How does that help?
Wondering same, aluminium would make noises even louder😅

Wagwan Canyonaeros 👊
Great series!
Loving this series ! Would you please do a base camp one ? I would gladly pitch in for that . I’d even be happy with a builders kit series .
Time to boil up some tire soup!

Oh yeah, no kit no sale. This is a hill i will die on.

A 4200 3s shorty fits in the front battery spot too. Tight, but fits.
Oh man i miss ti kering with my trx4 Sport back in 2019
Are you going to do the thousand cuts to the tires? That, and changing the wheels, is a really good upgrade for really cheap

Cold weather takes flex out of plastic
Hello
I see axial moved there manufacturing to China and lowered the price of the Basecamp as well........still prefer the sport
Maybe he'll get one to compare or someone will send him one

👍👍😎😎
🎃🎉🤌🛻 very nice
Do you have to use an xt60 to trx adapter to get that battery to work?
My son and I have Trx4 Sport . The ascent I have is terrible and the sport is way superior and worth the price!
Awesome vid as per usual! Love my trx4 s. Did they fix the click in the transmission they had in OG pin body Model? I shimmed mine nice and smooth now

morning gents😊
This was the perfect time to come with this series with the axial basecamp china.oh version is released. Hahaha.
I have too much to say about the "new" Basecamp to say in any one comment.
Hmmm. I only have larger, heavy batteries for mine.... Maybe wasn't my best choice.
Are Canyon Trails directional?
Very much. One of only a handful of tires marked as explicitly directional.
Pls make video on minifusion16 in 1/10 scale rig.
Does a Fusion 2300 fit in there? I might have just got my first TRX4!
yep sure does
@Hptyhop Thanks for the info. I guess I have a TRX4 now lol
Ah, the tuning and tweaking, where the real fun is.

3944X | 14-T pinion (32-p), heavy duty (machined, hardened steel) (fits 3mm shaft) | $5.95
3943X | 13-T pinion (32-p), heavy duty (machined, hardened steel) (fits 3mm shaft) | $5.95
I don't think I'd pay more for a Traxxas pinion than a Robinson Absolute, but it is good to have options should the situation arise.
