Yes. Indian music and Indian dance requires commitment practice, riyaz etc.. I am a Hindustani classical vocalist and I have been learning for quite a while and I have also learnt carnatic vocal in my younger days. It definitely takes lot of commitment and practice to master.

First time search for kathakali dance out of pure curiosity & this showed up: I can immediatly tell that this performance took a lot of dedication, talent and discipline without any other reference. While watching it i even failed to notice when I began tapping my fingers on table in synchronization of beats and tapping my foot on floor accordingly. Having just come back from a flamenco performance in Spain I can see where the influence comes from clear as day. Kathak is truly the early flamenco.
Looks more like Tai Chi and Kung combined with moronic repetitive hand movements like holding an invisible tray with drinks than flamenco.
