    The blocks to raise the back tier is helpful. Thank you!

    Super cool. Only thing I’d do differently is make it so the lid opens to the side and lays flat next to the bottom. But I’m definitely at doing something like this. And I’m surprised there isn’t more info on things like this.

    +1 for including the decksavers in the design. save those knobs!

    Talent man. That is a sweet set up. I love it. I am looking for an old suitcase that I can convert into a portable carrying case for my synth setup.

    Kudos, this whole project is very impressive. I’m guessing it was born from a need more for space management and dust protection than portability? Have you ever tried traveling with it?

      No, it's a bit too heavy (about 22 kg). The main reason was to have a pre-wired DAW-less rig that was easy to stow away. :)

      @@Coldsnap500 ok yeah I figured I would be pretty heavy. Anyway, very nice build….also enjoyed the music!

    this is great I'm trying to a build something similar, with less synths.
    How do you keep the volcas and the arturia in place when moving the case?

    • @Coldsnap500
      @Coldsnap500  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They are velcroed in place + I put a foam sheet in when closing it!

    Awesome!
    I'm thinking to do something like that with a huge case I already have.
    Just wondering, how are you going to prevent the synths/controllers to fall?
    I think I saw something like rubber bands for the "upper" devices fixed to the wood, but could not catch something like that for the Beatstep pro

      Most synths have velcro underneath to keep them from sliding around, and everything in the lid is held in place by elastic bands. In addition, when I close the box I put in a thick foam sheet that prevents things from falling (this is important). Since this video was made I've rebuilt some things, and now most machines have plastic lids to protect knobs and cables.

    Where did you buy your suitcase hardware? I'm specifically interested in the corner guards. Thanks for posting!

      The corners are Penn Elcom Medium Flat Corner C7082, I found these in a local shop but I think you can get them online! :)

    Great project! Im just building one myself but im using an old suitcase because i need it for concerts aswell. Im wondering how do you hold the mixer and the stuff on top in place?

    • @Coldsnap500
      @Coldsnap500  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Velcro and elastic bands, I start adding these at 1:20. When the case is open, the mixer and fx pedals rest on top of a thin wood strip. The elastic bands used in the video turned out too weak to hold the mixer securely when closed, so I've had to replace them with stronger ones.

    But hows weight?

    • @Coldsnap500
      @Coldsnap500  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's quite heavy, 20+ kg, but I'm only moving it from one room to another. It wasn't built for traveling, just for convenient storage. :)
