Love these tips, Pippa! Thank you.
One thing I can think of is when I’m reading a journal article I will read through once with no expectation of understanding anything, then the second time I read I’ll highlight key words/phrases as I go, then the third time I’ll add the key points and quotes to a table with the citation, page no, reference. This only works if I’ve got time to do this, which sometimes isn’t the case, and I know that I have to give myself the time to read (like you said) because I won’t understand it or take it in if I’m feeling under pressure.
The research table is the best thing though, it was a god send for my diss! I think the headings I did were: Citation, Date, Quote, Notes/key themes, Links to theory, Reference, weblink. Then if you get sucked into a black hole of article after article trying to find the bit you need, it’s easier to grab any quotes with the info you need whilst you have it in front of you, so you don’t forget that really good point three articles ago.
Really hope that all makes some kind of sense!😂 xxx

Ohhhh that sounds like such a good method, such a good way of breaking out down to make sense pacing-wise as well! Tempted to try this myself now, thank you so much for sharing 💕💕

Coming back to this yet again as i find myself snowed under with readings! Something that my friends and i do when there are lots of papers to get through is create a shared google doc for each one and then we all add our own interpretations and key points so that if someone (not just chronically ill humans) doesn't get round to all of them they can get the gist
