I think the dress movement make it a little bit unrealistic,
maybe if she was with jeans it would be a better shot.

I'm confused. You said you use Lightroom, but I saw that you used Photoshop. Did I see that incorrectly? Or is Lightroom now Photoshop? Also, I can think of a much easier way of doing the same kind of photo. It appears the purpose of your base shot is to be able to take out what you don't want in post. Well, why not position the camera so that the stool isn't in the shot? Or have the person jump further away so you don't have to get the stool in the shot? Definitely going to try this w/ my kids who like to literally jump around pretending their cats or other animals.
Or just jump and take a picture. One shot. No editing needed. No launch pad needed.

I'm not sure the cat will take the photo while you jump off the stool.

You can make the cat fly like superman (supercat).
Only smartphone capable high shutter speed shot will be xperia mark 2.

Hello Chelsea!! I can’t think of a better way to do this but I really don’t care for the procedure you used. To me, it doesn’t look like she’s levitating. It looks like she jumped off a chair. Her position in the air resembles jumping off of something and her ruffled dress looks like it’s catching air currents on the way down from jumping. I remember a photo of the comedian Robin Williams jumping at a beach from years ago. That looked real even though we all knew it was fake. That was done with a film camera. I think someone was walking beside him. I also remember when Kai W did a video using an intervalometer. In that one, he walked around someone and each shot caught him in the air. The result was great Chelsea!! Although humorous, the technical aspect of the results were kinda tricky. But it looked like levitation. I really believe your creative mind can come up with something way better. By the way, the recent show on creativity is great!!
PicsArt (the app that your daughter use) is a very cool app, but it has 1 huge flaw that made me delete it: it compresses the exported file A LOT. You lose all sharpness
do you use other app by any chance with the same features, but without compressing the exported file?

More tips: you don’t even have to jump. You can raise your hands and have an ascending type shot like Jesus going back to heaven. Or you can sit Indian style and have a Buddhist monk type levitation.
Photographers need to branch out and learn to draw. I am not talking tracing. Put some wings or angels around, a halo on her head. Some ducks flying under her. Get creative. Drawing tablet prices and quality have improved greatly. Try the Huion 13 2020 version. But really most photographers just use a $30 tablet to burn and dodge photos.
I don’t think there’s any point jumping sideways when you are masking the stool out anyway, I’d like to have a go and see what I can manage ;)

I noticed a few TH-cam videos on Lomography or, as I prefer to call it, 'toy camera photography'. Just wondering what your views are on the lomo phenomenon.
Just click a photo of the environment without the subject. Take another photo with the subject on a stool without changing position. Superimpose both the photos and just erase out the stool carefully. This method looks easier.

If you are you using an iPhone 11, 11 pro or iOS 14 beta you are not going to want to hold the shutter button because it will record a video instead swipe the left when you press the shutter for continuous shooting
Hello again. I think a better levitation shot would be to have the chair suspended in air with her climbing a small ladder to get to the chair using layers. Or to take a pic of her on the ground and move her up in the sky using layers.

Glad to see your kid interested in your business. I have a 16-year-old who is over anything to do with a camera. My 6-year-old, on the other hand, runs around with her camera all day taking pictures and videos of her toys posed around the yard.

doesn't iphone shoots raw? To match wb beforehand? faster and less editing that way.
Thanks for this, my people jumping definitely not floating photos are going to be much better now.
You can also use props, an umbrella can give you a Mary poppins type shot or use balloons to create a floating away type shot.
Lot easier to use the spot eraser in Photoshop to get rid of the unwanted stool in the shot, everything else I would do as you describe

Is there a huge difference between the Lightroom 6/CC book and your most current Lightroom edition?
It has some new tools and it's much quicker

Chelsea said she used Lightroom, but the video shows that she used Photoshop, which allows you to layers photos. I don’t think Lightroom does. Am I mistaken?
@@chriskaufman4394 Hi, thanks for your response. There are 2 Lightroom books for sale and I have the first since I had Lightroom 6 at the time. The first Lightroom book includes info for both 6 and CC.
So I'd like to learn Lightroom. At the moment, I'm unsure about layers on LR. But from everything I've read, it's not sounding like it has the traditional layers from Photoshop without use of plug-ins. Maybe someone else can speak better of this.

How about just have one shot and use snapseed to remove the chair. Simpler I think. And I want to say, I bought that first book and I love it. I still take it on long trips. I recommend it to anyone reading this here. I plan to get the second as soon as I can.

The "blank photo" is called a "clean plate" I have heard. Oh, and if I'd jump like that at my age the emergency folks would have to be called (000 here in AU is our "911"). Madelyn will soon need her own photo-teaching channel! :0)
