The world moves at a frenetic pace nowadays, small displacement bikes force you to slow down a little and they give people a chance to appreciate the beauty of a country road . I do believe that if one must spend a lot of time on major highways or traveling two up, then a larger bike would likely be a better choice. When my wife wants to go for a ride I take my roadster. Normally when I take the bike it’s to enjoy the back roads and explore on my own or in a small group. Even my KLX 300 will exceed 80 mph, more than fast enough for me on public highways. Keep up the great work, best of luck with the home search. My two cents, I would never buy a house without a garage unless I could rent garage space somewhere close by, just makes life difficult if you are a gear head like myself.

Cracking bike. Only improvement RE could make to this machine is to change to belt drive instead of very old chain nonsense or at least offer it as a change option accessory kit.
Just got to 1500 kilometers on the Bike, its every bit as good as mentioned in this great vid, Just sold the FIREBALL 350 METEOR, Had it for a year, and that too was a great bike, would love to get the INTERCEPTOR, but the riding position and seat height make it difficult for me @ 5'8" tall. First bike in the Garage is the TRIUMPH SPEEDY 2018, 1200cc of magic.
Perfect timing on this video big guy. I was in at my local the other day discussing the purchase of this very model. At 5'10" & 80 kg it seems like the perfect size & power for a guy my size.
The SuperMeteor is the bike that can replace the now gone HD Sportster - especially the 883… Owning a 2004 1200 Custom, I tried the SuperMeteor at my local dealer and impressed! Love the wide range in the rpm band… 3 gear a bit over walking speed without any hacking and just open up the throttle and it moves…. It‘s very stable at high speeds better as my Sportster, but the cog is much higher as on the Sportster and compared it felt a bit top heavy - not that it was really bad as on a BMW K1200LT or a Honda PanEuropean 1300, but recognizable higher. Looking into my garage where the Sportster shares the place with my daily commuter a Honda PCX125 (don’town a car), I‘m thrown to trade my Sportster for the SuperMeteor or…. at a Classic/Bullet 350…😇 BTW - consider the Sportster if a used bike is suitable for you as your bike for Spain… It is a perfect canvas to build what ever you like from it ( hardcore chopper/bagger/dirtbike/cafe racer) everything is possible with a Sportster.
Reading some of the comments about reliability and waiting for parts, I find you could say the same about any manufacturers and I believe there is a lot of luck involved and also how you ride, I ride everyday on a honda and I'm always replacing repairing and adjusting. If you like a bike jist go for it you will enjoy it regardless.
Great Vid, Love RE, I have a continental GT I love that bike, I have had many in my almost 50 years of riding, if you include dirt bikes from when I was a kid, my RE is one of the few bikes I really connect with, its amazing.
I like the looks of this RE a lot more than the Triumph Speedmaster. But I’m finding out I’m going to need two bikes, one for touring and exploring, and another for more spirited riding because I enjoy both and it kind of depends on my mood.
Currently in hospital due to a major motorcycle crash. Needing a new bike again (No.6 now) and these royal Enfields have always pulled me in. The question is though, interceptor, Himalayan or super meteor? Guess I'll have to test ride all three in 6 - 9 months when I can ride again :D keep up the great content lads! Making hospital just that extra little bit more palatable Stay safe and ride free
Sorry to hear about your accident, hope your injuries are not too bad! Pleased our videos are making your hospital stay not so bad and you have some time for thoughts on what your next bike will be 👍🏼
My interceptor is playing up at the moment of cutting out when pulling away from lights and junctions done 4500 miles on it and really like it took back to the dealer where I got it from and very helpful and changed the ignition barrel and it happened again so ordered some different relays for it and see what happens so I am guessing some of the electrical components might be a bit naff may be as I am not a expert in these things so hopefully the new relays will fix the problem I have my winge now happy motor cycling
There are quite a few videos of people who have had trouble with the grease that has been applied to the relays. I didn't have any bother with mine but swapped them out as an upgrade and the amount of grease was bonkers. I'd definitely clean the relays and the terminals for them whether you're replacing them or not.
I have had my RE GT for over a year now and have about 10,000 miles, no problems but I think the issue you are having seems to happen because of too much electrical grease or something, I was thinking I would take preventative maintenance and change the relays before hand, Anyway good luck they are great bikes and some of the problems have sometimes have give the bikes character, I don't mind tinkering on bikes my self.
I’d love to see you do a RE tour video. I just did a 9 hour group ride on my Interceptor with the Indian club through the mountains of Idaho. I had no problem keeping up with those powerful bikes. If you have even an ounce of interest in a RE, get one. You won’t be disappointed!
If your talking about the jerkiness as low RPM, all the new parallels twins do that, my Bonnie did it as well as my RE I installed a Booster plug on them both and smoothed it right out, made a world of difference, not expensive and any one can installed it, very very simple install.
@@karlsquire8148 I suspect he's "joking" about the 20mph limit in most built-up areas that we have in Wales. Personally, I think that if you can't control your vehicle at 20mph then maybe you should consider whether you deserve the privilege of having a driving licence. The interests of people have been subjugated to the interests of "motorists" for far too long 😁
@@horspiste Oh Friggg, lol now I get it lol I'm in Canada we are not getting that speed limit stuff jammed down our throat , YET. I totally didn't get what he was talking about, Sorry Iceman, my stupid bad. lol
In Europe this may work. But in the US market, Super Meteor doesn't really stand a chance - it faces some of much more formidable opponents in the market. In the US, Super Meteor is about US$7600~9000 depending on options. It faces following competitions - Yamaha Bolt R Spec 942cc ($8600), Kawasaki Vulcan S 650cc($7500), Kawasaki Vulcan 900cc ($8500), Honda Rebel 500 ($6200), Honda Shadow Phantom 750 cc ($8000), Suzuki Boulevard C50 900cc ($8900 - but I've seen ones going at low $8k)....Moto Guzzi V7 is about $8500~9500 depending on models...Need I go on? In the UK and Europe, perhaps it is limited by the model restriction, but in the US market, we have so many good alternatives...plus, why would you pay same amount of money for RE when you can buy far "better...(I meant more proven)" bikes from Honda or Yamaha? Would you speciously buy Super Meteor over Yamaha Bolt R or Shadow for the same amount of money?
Welp, aesthetics comes to mind, my two cents are all of those don't look as cool as the RE Classic (Meteor included). The v-twin conversions on some older bullets (done by Aniket Vardhan) make them sound perfect imo.
@@kabzebrowski Then you should get Honda Shadow Phantom or Kawasaki Vulcan 900 - essentially the same classic design - RE will have some tough time competing at the current price range (against the Japanese bikes with bigger displacement).
After riding new to me vulcan 1500 for a month today took out my trusty CB750 and tell you what a joy it was in comparison light agile and fun.I concur with you smaller CC bikes are fun
I owned the 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 classic for a while. Now I have the Honda VTX 1300. The Vulcan was a better Interstate bike but the VTX is somewhat lighter and more manageable. I actually like it better. Nevertheless, I wish I could afford a second bike so that I could get a smaller, lighter more flickable ride. Sometimes big bulky bikes are sort of a downer. I think I would like the Royal Enfield 650 the most. Probably the super meteor.
Spent a month riding my new Super Meteor for my daily commute, with the Classic 500 being at the mechanic's. Now that I have the Classic back and its time to shift back to it for my daily commute, it shocked me how tiny it feels now, I think it will take a bit of time for me to get used to it again.
I agree with you about the USD forks and the silver components, looking out of place on a cruiser. If the Super Meteor had the complete front end including the clocks from the Interceptor, it would be perfect in my eyes.
I agree... my biggest complaint about the Super Meteor is simply the fact that the gauges (or to use the British term..."clocks") don't look right to me. A big one on the left and a small one on the right spoils the looks. I just want the traditional gauges.... speedo on the left and tach on the right and they need to be the same size. Maybe there would be a way to at least get rid of that stupid little trip gauge and then reposition the speedo to the center.
Sorry Ol'man but I prefer the SM650 over the Classic 350. Got both but the ride quality and smoothness of the SM does it for me. Think if I'd have bought thr 750 first I'd never had bought the 350. Hope you get the move sorted soon 👍
interesting take! so the smoothness of the ride was what sold it? appearance of the classic 350 didnt sway you? personally im eager for RE’s release of the classic 650. might bring the best of both worlds.
I do appreciate the movement to smaller bikes. . .BUT. . .my daughter has a 500 Honda Rebel, that I do love to ride, but when I get on my Bonnie T120, I feel like I can “putt putt” around just like her, but when I need to hit (American) highways, I can do that all day long. I traded in a K1600 BMW for my 1200 Bonnie, and the Bonnie feels like a toy (in a good way). I get the small bike movement, but I DON’T want to overplay it. I think a 350 is just too small, and a 650’s weight is so different from the 1200 as to make that determinative.
American here who just got a Speed Twin 900 over Labor Day weekend. I hear you, what it really comes down to is there are really two types of road riding here in the States. The one type is urban riding or riding country two lane highways. Your top speed is going to be 65 mph (typically 55 mph) and highway riding will be limited to a few miles and highways have lower speed limits in the urban areas. My Speed Twin 900 is great for urban riding and the country two lane highways. Then there's the interstate. As you know, people cruise at 80 mph to 90 mph on the interstate. My Speed Twin 900 is a naked bike and I'm sorry, 30 minutes at 80 mph and I feel beet up. 65 mph, I feel fine. 80 mph and I feel whooped! I've learned 30 minutes is all the longer I want to go - and I really don't want to go that long! So yeah, you want the big, heavy bike that can hold its ground when riding for any length of time on the interstate at those speeds. You'd prefer to have a windscreen, too. These little bikes, while a blast to ride, aren't going to cut it for that kind of riding. But, those big bruisers that can chew up the interstate all day at 90 mph are awful for commuting in heavy urban traffic. There's no one bike that does it all.
The small bikes movement makes a lot more sense in Europe than in the US as we have lots of back roads etc where smaller bikes can travel comfortably. For long distance travels on the highway I agree than larger bikes (8-900cc onwards) are better suited though
The small bike movement makes sense to me being about the ride, style and spirit of motorcycling. Over powered bikes have taken out many. I think in for city based riders in Australia they can fit the bill perfectly. Ego's here equating bigger is better is still a culture. Even if it doesn't make sense.
@@Cj-nu7nx Bigger is better is definitely the culture here in the states. There was a guy on Reddit a couple months ago telling a new rider they shouldn't consider anything smaller than a 1600! Sad thing is, he wasn't joking. I reminded him the first car I bought had a 1.4L (or 1400cc) engine!
Lovely work, yeah very curious myself when they bring out royal Enfield classic 650, love that chrome bronz colour, be nice going through the old 🍷 winery here in Adelaide 👍👍👍
Conclusion absolutely as expected. In terms of quality for the price, it's unbeatable if you want a mid-capacity cruiser. We test rode one and were very impressed. Only the harsh ride from the standard rear shocks spoiled it slightly. But by now, Hagon probably do a replacement pair for less than £300? Yes, of course It's made in India but there's no dishonesty about that. Quite a few "European" or "Japanese" bikes aren't actually made there these days.
Get a few miles on the clock and the rear suspension softens up plus the rear shocks are very adjustable, so just get the right setting for your weight. Had no problems with my suspension, what an awesome bike.
Looks like a nice bike, and has a low seat which is good. at over 240kg though it's well heavy for a 650 - not too far short of my weighty Speedmaster.
Hoping for a Classic 650. Really enjoy my 350, but it is limited to the side roads. It thrives there, and I love it, tho I find the 650 would be a do-it-all bike
Ya know, if you could get your hands on one of the new Norton's, I'd love to hear what you AND Darcy would have to say about that. I love the new Norton's As much as I love my Royal Enfield but my Royal is not over priced.
More and more people are seeking for light weight motorcycle. Also appreciate powerful engine enough to get and go, 47 hp are more than enough. I feel my self riding slow bikes having much fun and less stress in the city then riding 100hp bike where I must keep it from jumping to full speed to the trafic and cause issues. you won't understand the feeling if you only ride powerful heavy bikes, then you should try a light one perhaps one from RE.
Great,mr.Darcy! A cool bike! But my favorite bike of R E is the Intercepter. Maby can you test for us the Brixton Cromwell 1200 ? Greetings from north germany, Bernhard
people speeding (drivers or riders) on these "modern" roads we all have in Europe (apart from Belgium, i believe) are literally loonies. a 650 bike is waaaaaay more than adeguate. i tried a meteor 350 and i think......it's the most comfortable bike i've ever used in more than 30 years.
Hi OL' Man. I can't find the video of you riding the super meteor 650 to a meeting. Then you drove home on a beautiful hilly road. Can you help me in it?
We made it private because it’s not quite the direction we’re taking the channel but here’s the link for you th-cam.com/video/imP9g8kbqAs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fJ7AbjM5Te5LSIYW
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Thank you so much. Yesterday I've ordered a brand new super meteor in this green. You're videos helped me a lot in my choice, I learned things from them that I didn't elsewhere. Thank you very much for this motor review. 🙂👌🏻
Hi, I got the super meteor 650 yesterday. It's very comfortable, and wonderful to drive, the sound is fantastic with the rumbling. Thanks for the videos.
I adore the interceptor, the GT and the classic. And i guess the bullet too. To me they look like proper British bikes from back in the day. . This thing not so much. I just don't care for imitation little sportsters.
You should loan or at least test ride the BMW R18B, the bagger. Offers way more than the HD. Try out the ACC(active cruise control) it’s a game changer and the sound system and so much more
With the exception of the Classic and Bullet maybe the rest of the Royal Enfields are let down in my opinion by the modern retro speedo design and the nav thing, they look very out of place to be honest and this would be enough to put me off buying one of these bikes. A classic 650 or 750 would be sweet. Can't beat the Bonneville T100/120, Triumph have nailed it in regard to modern retro design and kept more in line with true original design, the analogue clocks look gorgeous, in fact it looks so much better than the garbage Honda make today which are just copies of the same bike and don't get me started on Honda TFT displays, they look crap ! Honda need to Wake up and fire their designers and the rest of the manufacturers , I mean how many stick bug shape sports this and sport tour that with a TFT screen can they make ?
RE makes some nice bikes but the RE Super Meteor, to me, is neither fish nor fowl, not modern looking yet not classic and sporting ugly parts, especially the pipes. I think the line would have been much better had they come out with a 650 Classic first then go to the Meteor or the Hunter. Alas I don't make plans for RE so I'll just have to sit and wait to see if a 650 Classic ever shows up.
I bought Royal Enfield it was having problem shifting gears ,on first service found no lubricant in gear box it was tataly dry ,after one year One of front shocker gone then starting problem was on going just kicking, kicking? finally i sold it,
For the love of God, only buy the house that you want and will be happy with! Just like me, you have been to this rodeo before. Real estate transactions are not like switching T-shirts 😀 From Southern California ~ Ride Forever! 🦅
My experience of royal enfield is not good. Especially aftersales and dealership. I will not be rushing to buy another. Traded my one in and values have dropped badly
sounds like you had a spot of bad luck, sad to hear truly. Freddie Dobbs posted a video where a viewer talked about a similar experience but that viewer was actually just quite impatient. It seems very region dependent when it comes to dealerships and such. But why let that affect your love for the bike?
@@ChancellorBeeHaw it was the first brand new bike I'd ever bought. I suppose I should never say never. It would have been 2 years old in October but I traded in. You know how these things leave a bad taste but someday that might go away
On the subject of Indian bikes, I am eagerly looking forward to the BSA Scrambler. I can see the appeal of this Royal Enfield, but I wouldn't get one. Nick J
Royal enfield should sell the bike with a splayed out down pipe like the triumphs (old bonneville motorcycle) then it would be an even more desirable bike !!!!!( my own personal view) . Peace out ✌
Search for relais and grease at TH-cam. It‘s terrible what RE is doing there. For the pinnacle of motorcycle manufacturing the have to go some steps more ;-) But of course they build very nice bikes for a fair price.

In my experience, every garage-less house I bought where I said, "I'll build a garage" I didn't. Life, wife, strife, etc. Beware....

The more I see and hear this bike the more I dig it, it's just a good ole fashioned motorcycle. But aren't all Royal Enfields!!!
Great video brother 👍
Totally agree 💯
100% would love to see you touring Royal Enfield in the UK!

At 5'10" & 80 kg it seems like the perfect size & power for a guy my size.
The SuperMeteor is the bike that can replace the now gone HD Sportster - especially the 883…
Owning a 2004 1200 Custom, I tried the SuperMeteor at my local dealer and impressed!
Looking into my garage where the Sportster shares the place with my daily commuter a Honda PCX125 (don’town a car), I‘m thrown to trade my Sportster for the SuperMeteor or…. at a Classic/Bullet 350…😇
BTW - consider the Sportster if a used bike is suitable for you as your bike for Spain…
It is a perfect canvas to build what ever you like from it ( hardcore chopper/bagger/dirtbike/cafe racer) everything is possible with a Sportster.
Lovely video. Nice balance between thoughts on the bike and a vlog. Cool 👍🏻
It would cool to see you go to round Royal Enfield, I will look forward to it..
Nice, but like many others I would prefer a 650 version of the Classic 350.
Great Vid, Love RE, I have a continental GT I love that bike, I have had many in my almost 50 years of riding, if you include dirt bikes from when I was a kid, my RE is one of the few bikes I really connect with, its amazing.
Yes pleas do videos with the designers and engineers at royal enfield.
Have you seen Space Odyssey 2001? It kind of looks like the scene in the beginning the monkeys playing with sticks and rocks.
I like the looks of this RE a lot more than the Triumph Speedmaster. But I’m finding out I’m going to need two bikes, one for touring and exploring, and another for more spirited riding because I enjoy both and it kind of depends on my mood.
What brand and model is the helmet? Great review
Indeed it is.

Making hospital just that extra little bit more palatable
Stay safe and ride free
Sorry to hear about your accident, hope your injuries are not too bad!
Pleased our videos are making your hospital stay not so bad and you have some time for thoughts on what your next bike will be 👍🏼
How about pot hole country side roads
Do u suggest this bike
Is handling easy on such roads
Did you watch all of the review? As this was covered in it 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan no sir
Only your video
Yes loads grease in the relays
Thanks all for your input done the grease bit and been to the dealers and they check for air leaks but was OK I will till i get my relays from piagio
I’d love to see you do a RE tour video. I just did a 9 hour group ride on my Interceptor with the Indian club through the mountains of Idaho. I had no problem keeping up with those powerful bikes. If you have even an ounce of interest in a RE, get one. You won’t be disappointed!
I'm disappointed in Classic 350. RE doesn't give shit. Rude and clueless customer service.
Dude, you're freaking dope! I hope I can be as cool as you when I get older! \m/
Super meteor will be my next motorcyle.
Awesome thanks 😊
Great motorcycle but how does it run at 20mph?
If your talking about the jerkiness as low RPM, all the new parallels twins do that, my Bonnie did it as well as my RE I installed a Booster plug on them both and smoothed it right out, made a world of difference, not expensive and any one can installed it, very very simple install.
Haha
@@karlsquire8148 I suspect he's "joking" about the 20mph limit in most built-up areas that we have in Wales. Personally, I think that if you can't control your vehicle at 20mph then maybe you should consider whether you deserve the privilege of having a driving licence. The interests of people have been subjugated to the interests of "motorists" for far too long 😁
It seems to be doing 40 at 20 😉
@@horspiste Oh Friggg, lol now I get it lol I'm in Canada we are not getting that speed limit stuff jammed down our throat , YET.
Dear Ol'man excellent video and Nice presentation on RE Meteor 650.I want to know about URAL Motorcycles made in Russia.I liked your video
It's a strange world where a cb750 is considered light and agile .....
In comparison 750LB Vulcan? Yes light and agile@@ralfybaby
Im all in for the sound.will get one.i saw the hunter has sound but less power but this one is good ,with shot gun had the same sound
Spent a month riding my new Super Meteor for my daily commute, with the Classic 500 being at the mechanic's.
Now that I have the Classic back and its time to shift back to it for my daily commute, it shocked me how tiny it feels now, I think it will take a bit of time for me to get used to it again.
I hope you get to review the RE (Shotgun) SG650. I’m VERY interested in it coming to America.
@rhysincoll3176 love the look of the 350, and that's why I bought it and why I've kept it. I enjoy a ride on it but my go to bike has to be the 650.
@pm8465 I love the looks of the 350 classic. I was surprised that at 6'2" 188cm 240lbs 110kg I actually fit .....
But I need a bit more power.
@@pm8465 Understandable! happy to hear youve got a 350 too!
Do not forget the new name on Kawasaki it becomes ”Meguro” and i think
the Meguro K3 (before Kawasaki W800) would fit you guy’s motorcycle taste ❤
Yes make it happen in Bruntingthorpe
A video about the RE UK operation would be fantastic viewing. 😀👍
Excellent presentation..bravo..👍👍👍by the way which part of uk is there that u take these videos..such a peacefull environment..
Many thanks, we are in Wales 🏴
Looks like a nice bike, and has a low seat which is good. at over 240kg though it's well heavy for a 650 - not too far short of my weighty Speedmaster.
im in malaga province an enfield would be perfect for plodding around the hills here.
The sound is brilliant
Would love to see you visit the UK facility
I have the Meteor 350, but do find I prefer the Interceptor 650 over the Meteor 650, probably due to its seat height and more forward controls.
Great bike, great Mister Darcy, great view! I'm very sorry that I can't visit you.
We’ve got one booked very soon!!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Oh ya, I cant wait, awesome. Cheers.
I think the meteor 650 has untapped potential to be a very cool and stylish bobber with a few tweaks
Are you referring to the Shotgun 650?
Gonna buy one really soon
"It makes you appreciate the world you're living in." Perfect definition of riding a bike ! Amen Ol'Man ! ;-)
Its a mild annoyance, but I have to go different dealerships to test ride the Royal Enfield models vs the Rebel & Kawasaki models.
Arrange the enfield design facilities do that video please
I really like the looks of this bike. It reminds me of the 865cc Triumph Speedmaster which I like. I can’t wait for it to come to the USA.
Year and half later, I'm still wating for speedo fix on my RE Classic 350. One of the worst and coolest bikes I sat my ass on.
Great bike, even better scenery.
Very good thoughtful review
Great,mr.Darcy!
A cool bike! But my favorite bike of R E is the Intercepter.
Maby can you test for us the Brixton Cromwell 1200 ?
Greetings from north germany,

I love the R.E. 650 air-cooled twin for it's primitive and visceral nature, but I prefer it on the interceptor. 👍👍
Hi
Video fantastic as always. Just wondering why have you made a decision to move to Spain. Wales is just ad beautiful if not better
Thanks buddy. Yes definitely off to Spain
Well the weather ain't so great in Wales and Wales is full of welsh people 😂

people speeding (drivers or riders) on these "modern" roads we all have in Europe (apart from Belgium, i believe) are literally loonies.
a 650 bike is waaaaaay more than adeguate. i tried a meteor 350 and i think......it's the most comfortable bike i've ever used in more than 30 years.
Hi OL' Man.
I can't find the video of you riding the super meteor 650 to a meeting. Then you drove home on a beautiful hilly road. Can you help me in it?

Hi, I got the super meteor 650 yesterday. It's very comfortable, and wonderful to drive, the sound is fantastic with the rumbling. Thanks for the videos.
Your a big guy and that bike looks so big.

Try out the ACC(active cruise control) it’s a game changer and the sound system and so much more
We've contacted BMW again. Hopefully we can get some more of their bikes; we have tried!
A Classic 650 is already being tested. You can see spy shots of the test mule on TH-cam. It does look quite nice.
Looking tasty, I'd put a corbin gunfighter on it sounds like a bag of nails on tickover, wrap pipes, manual cct
I bought Royal Enfield it was having problem shifting gears ,on first service found no lubricant in gear box it was tataly dry ,after one year One of front shocker gone then starting problem was on going just kicking, kicking? finally i sold it,
Did you have a mic setup by the exhaust during this recording? The sound is phenomenal. Ordered mine a couple of months back.
Not exactly, but we don’t tend to have a mic in the helmet like most vloggers

Search for relais and grease at TH-cam. It‘s terrible what RE is doing there. For the pinnacle of motorcycle manufacturing the have to go some steps more ;-)
But of course they build very nice bikes for a fair price.
Yes, I saw a video about how a relay was packed with grease and caused it to short out.
