One thing folks should realize is this: a courtship that does not result in marriage is not a failure. It is better for the folks to go their separate ways if one person does not feel right about it anymore. And this is what Jesus was trying to explain to the Pharisees. Marriage is not for eternity. Marriage is only for this life. God can always raise up another partner if someone is no more interested. After all, marriage is not by force, and God let's us choose. May God help us.
By the way, they should not victimize the girl for her choices. People should certainly not just claim, "Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit." However, they should be free to make their choice, as long as the person is walking with God. Clearly the motive in this case was not pure.
