Maybe use the kids’ beach sand sifter to run the sand through? I’d guess the roots will stay behind and the sand will go through. GREAT video once again, thank you!
You should make a cap for the bottles with a silicon flap on the inside - under gravity should seal the bottle enough, with a protusion in your lower adaper, will pop the silicon flap up and let the fluid flow down
with the sand base being so easy to clean out, could the pak choi be pulled out and washed hole and eaten rather than cutting off base?, is there a lot of healthy nutrients in base also ?
You are amazing. I wish I could grow stuff like this but I can’t even get a flower to grow from seed. I’m going to keep trying though. I love your videos
Hey Mike thanks for the idea. 🤗 Just recently started a new hyper carnivore lifestyle.😊 All 30% of complex carbs permitted to enter my body, must be grown myself, or be unconditionally natural and untouched. I was thinking about when using the sand, could you bring it just above the water level maybe a half an inch to an inch or so, just where you know it's going to stay moist but not rot the seed, spread your seed and then cover the seed with a quarter of an inch or less of more sand, like you would in a garden? This would keep it covered, and give them enough weight to encourage the roots to grow down. I figured if you're going to rinse them just before consuming them then a little extra sand should be no big deal, right? Plus, if you're just growing them for microgreens without any nutrients, would you just rinse the sand out well and eat the roots as well?
Hey found your channel resently and i got a question that i cant find the answer in the internet... why ppl so obsesed with the netpots.. can`t u use normal pots? are the holes to small? Can you just buy cheap normal 60mm pots and enlarge the holes? And is there a cheap alternative to poolnoodels? because where i live they cost 4-5 Euro^^ iam experimenting with hydrophonic sponges (4cent per plant) but they dont give hold to the plant and clay pebbles are so expensive xD Sorry for the out of context questions on this video, but iam just starting in this very moment with hydrogardening and i have so many questions xD And sorry for my bad english :P
Thank you very much!! I'm going to have a go with the sand for sure!! I've just moved house and the garden has been an absolute disaster!! Microgreens don't need nutrients... if you want to do baby greens or full grown plants etc.... then you need to add hydroponic nutrients at the microgreen level of growth
I’ve been watching your channel and see that you have what looks like a greenhouse. If you only have a light source from a window, and it isn’t much, do you need grow lights to do this?. I was hoping you could tell me so I don’t have to watch all your videos to find out!
A cheap LED shoplight hung right over the bottle work good. I get mine from Walmart but many stores have them. I like the bright daylight light (white light) ones about 5000 lumens.
this technique would not work for someone living without a backyard. doesn't seem sanitary. and hydrogen peroxide ain't cheap. might as well buy from veggies from supermarket. I tried growing microgreen on stainless steel sprouter. what a mess dealing with empty seed hulls and roots. need to change water every day or it stinks. always had to maintain cleanliness or end up in ER. I ended up growing sprouts using my corningware cookware. microwave 2 mins to sanitize the dish and discard empty seed hulls as they break free every day. nice to know I'm not the only one who figured out I don't need sprout jars, trays to grow sprouts.

That's a good idea!
Great video. I also grow in clay pebbles and find it is a pain to clean. The sand looks easier and quick to clean.

...and cheaper!
Best microgreens system!

I hate gritty food. Gives me the shivers just thinking about it! Interested to hear if the plants hang onto sand as they grow.
I love this idea. I use the trays with silicone liner to do my microgreens. Love this is another great alternative.
this looks great. i wonder how an bunt cake pan instead of foil would help out in this process especially if you already have one.
Nice! That's a great idea!

Yes, that is correct. Give it a try.
Thank you Mike.
Looks good mike
But where does one order Your bottle adapter I didn't see it in the shop area, only coffee cups n t-shirts? Thanks Diana
Wow that’s amazing. Thanks
hi Mike
great channel!
Why not eat the roots?
The sand comes off, right?
It was sitting in nutrient solution for 10 days. No thank you.
@@KeepOnGrowinwhat if you just grew it for microgreens without nutrients, would you consider eating it then?
Can you do one for coriander seeds and mustard seeds
Yes, I love those!
Hey Mike, do you know if hydroponic plants will grow in black tea? In an effort to cut algae??
I don't know but that is interesting, I could try.
I don't see a Description Icon to click on, only share , etc ? Looked in your store an adapters weren't listed? What size bottles will it fit?
I wanna take you couse what is the cost for it and i love your videos i wanna grow my own food
Beautiful
What type of sand and where do you get? Home Depot? the beach????
just play sand
Do you use city water or RO water for your hydroponics
City water. I have a RO machine, brand new. I might do some tests.
@@KeepOnGrowin I live in Madison Wisconsin and water has a lot fluoride.
Hi, im in florida too. Can't we just use the sand that's in our yard? It's all sand lol
lol, you can try.
@@KeepOnGrowin lol
@@loisyoung4662 As long as the sodium content isn't high enough that it disrupts the growth of plants, it's worth a try.

Thanks. Pak choi for ease and versatility. Radish for flavor.
How does the plant get its nutrition with sand?

Hi Mr. Mike, have you tried this method with perlite?
I do use that without the adapter. I can try a few, problem is, it floats. We will see.
@@KeepOnGrowin thank you.
How can one order the clay pebbles and your adapter?

What kind of seeds you used ??
pak choi

Some people use sand in the aquaponics bed to grow all kinds of garden plants. I want to try this too and what you are doing.
